New guy here everyone. Current smoker, been smoking for about 8 years off and on. Currently smoke anywhere from half a pack to a full pack a day, just depends on the day.

After doing a bunch of research I ordered my first ecig last sunday night and got it today. I ordered the joye 510-T from Rocky Mountain. My biggest question is did I make a good decision going with the 510-T versus the standard 510? I read they updated the atomizer, batteries, and cartridges. So far its great, ive puffed a little on it and it performs superbly out of the box. So can anyone shed some real light on the differences between the regular model and the T model? Naturally one would think that an upgraded model has to be better, so what say you?

It's OK because you can always ditch the tank atty and tanks and use cartomizers. Though if it's auto, I would not have recommended auto batteries. Manual 510's are totally sealed metal on the threaded end so they are near-impossible to damage or kill with juice leaks, and manuals make it easier to get a good hit. Also, if you got auto 510-T then never use its charging cable on any other 510-threaded batteries - they is something different about 510-T auto charging cables and they can fry other 510's (and even Egos which should be using their own chargers anyway).

But it's not a bad choice. I do recommend you buy a normal standard resistance 510 atomizer and drip tip for testing juices, and some Boge 3 ohm (standard resistance) cartomizers and learn to use them. Then you can use cartomizers for clingy flavors you like but don't want in your atomizers and if you ever have atomizer trouble the cartos will be a backup way to vape. Standard resistance is stuff from 2.5 to 3 ohms.

Tanks and reservoir cartos generally like juices with 30% or less VG though some thinner 50/50's may work. I find PG s/ 20% or less VG gives me the best life out of stuffing cartomizers like Boge and I also avoid all juices that drop flavoring sediment (typically dark or cloudy juices) because that sediment clogs and gunks up everything - cartos and attys.

Differences - the T model uses the more expensive tank atomizers w/ tanks. A normal 510 comes with a standard 510 atomizer and cartridges (and people with manual batteries can also use a drip tip on the atomizer). But few normal 510 owners vape with atomizer + cartridges except when learning. Most switch to cartomizers for their favorite juices.

For standard or T, the short batteries have short life. 100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping. Short 510 batteries are 180mah.

Its a good decision for 2 reasons....

Like dormouse said, You can always ditch the tank if you dont like it and order other stuff for your batteries....

Or, you can do what alot of people have done. Used this ecigg to get your confidence up as far as quiting the analoges (Addicts gotta have consistant on demand delivery of the "goods" and you have it) then MORTGAGE THE HOUSE and go HOG WILD on mods and atties!!!

Toss in alot of juice and Presto chango!!!! YOUR ONE OF US!

Chill...try it....If ya like it GREAT, if not you can always throw more money at it.

You made a great choice. The batteries and threaded connection are basicaly the same for all 510 models. You can use anything that is listed for 510. Not positive on the battery size of the 510t but the low resistance and dual coil stuff should be run with the bigger batteries. Good luck and ask questions someone will have answers

My first (good) one was 510, and I still love it. I also have an eGo passthru, that I use the most, but I still use my 510 a lot. Nice thing is the cartos are interchangeable, I use SmokeTech 1.5 dual coils, so I can swap back and forth if I wish (been 2 weeks and no problems with the 1.5 on my 510 yet, but I don't use it constantly). I like the small size of the 510 when I just want to sit back and watch the Bears, or Nascar :) and the eGo is great when I'm sitting at my comp all day. Just my preferences. Good Luck and Welcome to ECF

I still use 510 manuals. Most of the time I'm vaping 510 manuals and KR808D-1 (Vapor4Life, SmokelessImage) manuals - I carry both and have a contrasting flavor cartomizer on each (one has cocoa tobacco, one sweet vanilla). And when I want more oomph I move my 510 cartomizer or atomizer to my fat battery Riva 510 (from Liberty-flights.com - their Riva 510 kits are 3.7v) or to a plastic 3.7v box mod. (3.7v is a bit more voltage than slim 510 has)

First off, Welcome to ECF. Any e cigarette is a good choice over cigarettes anyday. Regarding the 510 vs. 510-T, I've owned both type of atomizers and I have to say that I quite enjoyed the 510-T for convenience since I was not constantly dripping and was just a regular man about town. The only thing I noticed which was a discomfort to the derriere was the fact that 1) the tanks didn't seem to hold up to a good amount of refillings without tasting funny and 2)some of the tanks would leak and flood the atomizer too easily. So there you go, Derp has given you some knowledge and just know that you made a great decision to ditch the cigs. Take care.

So an auto 510-T charger is a problem? I ordered one that came with the 2 manual batteries, the charger is a wall charger and the cable to plug into it is USB.

So far its great, I get great drags off it and its comparable enough for me to start using more than regular cigs. Albeit the one flavor I have isnt so much to my liking. However I ordered a ton of different 5ml flavors from another site. I cant wait to try the new flavors.

So how oftern do 510-T tanks need to be replaced? Whenever they wear out? If so whats a general idea of lifespan? Are there really any benefits to switching to cartomizers? For now I just plan to test a new flavor every couple days, so I can keep one attomizer using a dedicated flavor and use the other to test new ones, cleaning it inbetween. Right now I think this thing works amazing, ive tried a few friends in the past and wasnt pleased.

The 510T was my first real e-cig as well.

The tanks themselves last a very long time. The atty's, not so much. After a while, they get gunked up and the draw becomes very stiff. Was getting ear aches LOL. I found them a real PIA to clean, and with limited success. Also the .7mil fill capacity was a negative for me. Your going to find that juice tends to get trapped in the mouthpiece. Removing the inner plug in the tank pretty much takes care of that problem.

I switched to using cartos for a good while, and was pretty happy until I got into DIY juice making. I used some of the 510t atty's that had been gathering dust to trial my creations and sort of rediscovered how much better my juices taste from an atty as opposed to a carto. This got me to looking for an alternative to poly filled carto's and I have been using Fluxomizers and Visions from Got Vapes as of late. Like em a LOT.
