Obviously the nicotine and the feel help a lot, but for me, jumping into the hobby aspect of vaping help me a LOT. I tend to jump into things with both feet. Doing the research on mods, tanks, juices etc. have really helped keep my mind off of smoking almost as much as the vapor itself! I am definitely not saving money vs smoking right now, but I'm having a blast and haven't had a smoke in days! Anyone else find the hobby super helpful too? If you're on this forum, I'm guessing yes ;)

I quit cold turkey and more or less cannonballed into vaping. I didn't think there was much in regards to customization, until I started researching. Found out about mechanicals, mods, RBAs, different tanks and -omizers and so on. There's life in it. So I kept researching, kept learning more, and now want to learn as much as I can. There's so much tweaking and anyone you meet will have their own opinion, their own rig, their own steeping process, their own philosophy about vaping, etc. It's beautiful.

Take it in with all you can and explore the realm with open eyes.

Originally it was the nicotine, but now it's definitely a hobby of mine. Since then I have weened myself down to 3 mg nicotine from 24. The only reason I still am using nicotine in my juices, is that I enjoy the "fullness" it gives my lungs when subohming.

Honestly the more that I learned the less I ended up caring about smokes. I feel like that's one of the best parts about vaping.

And not to mention all the other benefits!

I started to quit before I really knew anything about vaping. Started with the nicotine gum and Blu cig-a-likes but was on the verge of failure, then I discovered vaping.

Initially the tobacco flavored juices with nicotine helped tremendously with the physical addiction but the psychological part was still there. Within a few days I found how much there was out there in the vaping world and it became a hobby (obsession?). From that point on I really didn't want cigarettes any more, so yes the hobby/toy aspect was a big part of making quitting easy. Now I'm happier, healthier, and more broke :)

When I switched "hobby" wasn't even on the radar, certainly not to any degree as it exists today. The thing(s) that helped were: It tasted better than smoking. It worked better than conventional NRT to address all those "fiddle factors" you had when smoking. It had nicotine.

The other big thing that helped was just being able to talk about the switching experience here. Sure hardware then had challenges just as it does today but the actual act of switching is a varied experience for everyone. I went through two weeks of hard core quit smoking withdrawal as I was detoxing from a 30 year 2 PAD habit, and it was far more important to sort that out here than thinking a new shiny would help.

Still works for me. This forum is my support group. I don't know if I could have done it without my ECF friends.

When i first switched i stayed in touch with the company i got my hardware from on Twitter, they sent me little snippets of advice if i had a question and linked me to all kinds of articles about correct usage and on going maintenence like cleaning :) That definately helped me, made me feel more like a valued customer on a journey than a walking pound/dollar sign :)

First it was the nicotine that really took care of the edge. The hobby of it picked up after I was seeing it was successful of getting rid of smoking. I love electronics and shiny gadgets, so the hobby part really appealed to me. It also has curbed my soda consumption down immensely as well as my craving for sweets. I have lost about 15lbs since I started vaping. Win/Win

My "hobby" is getting my nicotine without killing myself. I've DIY my juice and mods to lower cost, very successfully. I'm active on ECF to assist others be able to stop killing themselves.

I never got into the "oh, shiney" side of vaping....but then when I bought my first used car, I knew the displacement, carboration, gear ratios, MPG, etc...then my parents asked "what color is it?" ....ummm,....:facepalm:
