Did you eventually stop using nicotine?

I started at 18 last year and went down to 0 for a good while when insurance was threatening to double. I eventually started vaping 3-6 mg again because I missed the relaxing feeling you get. Lately, I've been on 4-5 mg and it seems to be my happy spot but would have no qualms going back to 0 if the insurance increase threat rolls around again. I enjoy the act of vaping more so than the actual nicotine.

I'm new to vaping and my reasons for eventually dropping down to 0mg nic is probably different than most. I started vaping on 18mg but realized that it was a little too much for me. I dropped down to 12mg a week ago and the adjustment has gone well for me. I will be starting my nursing clincals next month and since most healthcare facilities are nicotine free to hire, this gives me a little less than 2 years to drop down to 0mg. Its still too early to tell if I will continue vaping after my habitual cravings for traditional cigarettes wanes but so far I very much enjoy vaping. Its a personal preference and you just need to go with what works for you.

I was a 2 PAD smoker but my cigarettes were exceptionally light so when I started vaping, even low nicotine felt like a lot. I went from 6mg to 3mg to 1.5mg to zero probably within a month. Been at 0mg ever since. I vape pretty casually now, not constant like I used to.

I'm tobacco-free for almost a year! [emoji106][emoji4]

Well, better stop eating any tomatoes or eggplants then, and make sure no one who works there already eats any either -- they contain nicotine too. And if nicotine is "poisonous" then you won't want to eat any foods that contain it... you know, with niacin... a/k/a 'nicotinic acid'.

LOL. definitely. @jlv2fun4u, maybe you mean smoke free? I'm a physician assistant in a hospital and we have a smoke free campus. This means that smokers walk around the corner to smoke. Work places don't test you for nicotine, they test for things like narcotics and illegal substances

I live in CO, and have a similar story, which I sort of told in another thread.

I stopped smoking cigarettes over 4 years ago, and found myself smoking more herbs instead.

When I started vaping, it was to replace smoking, not nicotine. I've discovered that I wasn't fighting nicotine addiction any more, but I was still addicted to the act of smoking.

So I vape 0 nic ejuice whenever the urge to smoke hits, and, every evening, a little high ... oil for my epilepsy. I have now been completely smoke free for about a month.

About illegal substances ... They are only illegal depending where you live ;). My goal has never been to quit nicotine, but sigarets. Problem with quitting was that I smoke my canabis with a little tobacco . Now I extract the canna in some juice and am tobacco free.
Well, not really. Federal law says those substances are still illegal. Some states choose to ignore that law but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. This site does frown upon any mention of them as the owner and staff believe they hurt our reputation as vapers. Try to keep that talk to a minimum if you can.

@Ladybug24 here in Northeast Ohio they actually conduct a nicotine test upon interview for employment. Most of the major hospital and healthcare systems around here will not hire you if there is any presence of nicotine in your system. They will do a hair test or they will do a blood test. I completely understand drug and alcohol tests for obvious reasons but the nicotine test is just too much in my opinion. But I am a nursing student that wants to find work upon graduation.

Really??? Then this must be an American forum, LOL, the freest country in the world.

Actually the owner is British, but it has nothing to do with law -- the forum is his private property which he's allowing us to use, so he can make any rules he likes.

Entirely sensible! But it just riles me that the fat-cats screwed up the WORLD economic system so badly that nobody can take a stand against ridiculous rules like that, because everyone has to make a living.

That seems quite ridiculous in my opinion. What does nicotine have to do with a persons ability to work in healthcare? Is that even legal? It's crazy.

I understand the forum rules. But I think it's worth mentioning here, because it has everything to do with why someone might use 0 nic ejuice.

In CO this is a legal medicine, and vaping is frequently the best delivery option.
I only asked about 0 nic because my ultimate goal was to quit smoking analogs, which I have But also to reduce and eventually (hopefully) eliminate cravings.

@jlv2fun4u , I think you're on the right path. I have a friend who started vaping as a way to kick the nicotine habit before a surgery. She did it within a year, but everybody is on a different path. My goal for mental health and hopefully baby-making reasons is within a year, and I've managed 24mg to 12 within 2 months.

Apparently it *is* legal, irrational and stupid as it seems -- and BECAUSE of the crap economy, as I mentioned, they get away with it, because jobs are just too hard to come by anymore, nevermind *good* jobs. The fat cats have made every one of us into wage slaves.

Shows the importance of state and local politics. Here in CO, the legislature passed a law stating that employers cannot fire you for engaging in a legal activity on your own time. The law was passed in response to the trend of employers to trying to limit not only off duty nicotine use, but also other things like participating in dangerous sports.
