I don't know what's wrong with me today but nothing tastes right/good when I vape. I have 2 ADV's and 4 other flavors I love - plus about 7 different flavors steeping. I've tried all my regulars and some of the one's steeping and nothing tastes good - everything seems sour. I'm guessing it's me for some reason, though I don't know why, but it sucks - I've never switched flavors so many times in one day before. In 6 weeks I've never had this happen before - where I can't find one thing that makes me happy. :p

Sorry mod's - I meant to post this in the e-liquid discussion!! It is an off day!!

Thanks everyone - I'm glad I'm not alone and I truly appreciate all the tips!!

that use to happen all the time when I first started vaping I would just vape something strong until it passed like fire & ice. it stopped happening after 7 or 8 months

That's what I decided to try and do - when I first started, I used Peppermint Blast from HHV's. My first vape and I never picked up another cig - it was such a strong peppermint and I loved it. I decided to try that tonight and we'll see how everything tastes tomorrow. What a weird experience though!!

this has happened to me several times through out the last couple years. I've seen tons of threads about it. No one really knows for sure what the deal is other than it's a common occurrence and seems to always pass. Myself, I just vape unflavored for awhile and then go back to my flavored mixes and all is well till the next time.

It's funny. Just about every day, at some point, I'll stop what I'm doing, .... my head to the side, and think either - "Today's just a grand ol' vaping day"; or conversely - "Today's been a rotten, suck-... vaping day. Why oh why is everything going wrong?"

It's amazing how when things go wrong, they go wrong the entire day. I'm now convinced it has only to do with whether the Almighty Vaping Gods are smiling upon us at that particular moment... or not! Good thing for me, I always seem to gain favor with again them sooner or later. I damned well better... what with all the vape money I spend to appease them! Alms to the Vaping Gods. :)

I just listened to a science podcast and they were talking about smell, how we associate "taste" with tongue but really our taste is caused by air delivery of scent molicules to the back of the throat and up into the nasal passage. When the receptor catches these molecules it sends signals to our brain. When these receptors get out of wack we say our taste is off but really it's not tongue it's nasal and the scent molecule receptors being damaged.

Think about the Zicam incident and how people lost their sense of smell and at the time it was thought to be a permanent loss. But these receptors in your nose actually will rebuild. You see this with smokers who after a year or so start getting smell back and Zicam users who also got their smell back after a year or so.

After 3 years of vaping I suspect there is a correlation between vaping and these receptors being interrupted but I can only offer conjecture not having any data.

Edit: I thought it was interesting that the woman they interview said everything tasted sour to her.....

really interesting...

when it happened to me, someone suggest i drink a lot of water as i didn't before and i just had quite smoking 2 weeks prior. i was told i was probably dehydrated. i started drinking and quite the vape for 24 hours. my first puff back and the taste was there, but not 100%. after 3 days i was back to tasting the eliquids again and have been drinking water like a champ since. so now vaping has made me quit smoking and giving me the reason to drink tons of water too. it's a win-win!!!

Donnah taught me the ways of the unflavored! Lol.

I was thinking about starting a thread kind of on this same theme. With me...so much of whether my vape is tasting right has to do with how tired I am, if I'm in pain (headache, muscle aches and pains, etc.), if my sinuses are stopped up or otherwise irritated, and if I'm stressed. Especially if I'm stressed. And, unfortunately just about every evening I'm both tired AND stressed...and often have the other factors tossed in,too. Sometimes it clears up for a bit after I eat dinner and go to bed (I read and vape a bit before sleeping). But really...so much of my enjoying the flavor of my vape hinges on my physical state and my mood. It's crazy!

But it does pass. Generally after a good night's sleep all is well in the morning. Until evening and the stress comes again later that day....sigh.

This happened to me the other day. I concluded that it was nerves in my instance. Was near the end of a stressful day, and several things in a chain of events were tweaking me a bit. Vaping started to taste horrible, thought well it must be time to clean. However my other setups also tasted horrible, as did the glass of water... hmmm

I ended up just laying down for an hour or so and relax. Everything returned to normal soon. All i can attribute it to is "freak out" syndrome heh

Thanks so much to all of you - I really thought I was going to sound crazy when I posted this, so I am relieved to know that it's not just me - you've all given me some great information - especially in regards to the nasal passages and what fourthrok said about being tired/stressed. Both of those actually play into other things going on right now, so that makes a lot of sense. Today is better, though I can't vape the same flavor for very long before I get the sour taste - but at least it's not where everything is tasting sour.

I am absolutely going to look into getting some unflavored juice when/if this happens again - honestly, something with no flavor would be welcome rather then the way my juices taste "off".

Thanks again!! :)
