Hi guys,
I'm new to this site in terms of registering and posting. I've read many of you guys since May when I was informed by my girlfriend to try the ecig to quit the real thing. So I did. And I have never touched an analog since June 2nd. Anyhow, I felt no need to register until I came across this article today.

US FDA issues warning vs electronic cigarettes
Apparently they found diethylene glycol which is a different chemical structure to propylene glycol. It is very toxic to humans and a cause for concern. Any one care to comment if they found more information? The article link is below for your viewing:

I'm sure they will find trace amounts of all kinds of crap in ejuice from china. That's why we need more companies like Johnson Creek to produce the stuff here in the USA.

The amount they found should be of little concern. The chemical is found in analog cigarettes as well, being used in the treatment of tobacco. The fact that it was only found in one of the (18 I think?) samples is important to address as well. It could've either transferred over from the nicotine extraction from the tobacco, or could have ended up there due to a contaminated production facility, or simply the result of not having a way to regulate juice made in China. There's a lot of info floating around the board on this very topic right now, so look around.

Quality will vary from company to company, regardless of country. At one of the places I worked here in the U.S., there was an incident one day and we were instructed to pick out the moldy bits from the food product so that the non-moldy part could be sold. One of a few reasons I left that place.

Hey at least they were removing it. The peanut butter clowns just figured they'd leave it all in there and give a few people salmonella. Hey, didn't the FDA inspect that peanut butter place?

the good stuff comes from china, to them they are medical devices..its the united states u need to worry about cutting corners, trying to maximize revenue.

The juice they found containing DEG was made in China. It was from one of 2 companies that is suing the FDA right now for halting/seizing imports. As far as I know the only US manufacturer of e-Juice is Johnson Creek, and the FDA did not test them, though they have been attempting to make their juice in a way that would most likely be deemed "safe" by the FDA, so I think you're off-base here.

This was found in one cart out of 18 the FDA lab tested. Companies like TW are constantly having the juice they buy tested, and this has never come up before, IMHO we can't rule out an issue at the FDA lab either. I want another test done at a different lab before believing this was really in the juice/cart. Something smells funny and it isn't my e-cig.

I think China is most equipped to deal with any issues that can arise containing and problems with e-Liquid. Out of all of the e-Liquid producers, Johnson Creek has had the most problems with their liquids. YNDK has registered their liquid with the FDA as the FDA has a field office in China.
They have been making it from day one and have been complying with the FDA's needs.

This morning WGN in chicago had a news story on the so called harmful ingredients found in the juices. Yesterday, MSNBC had the same story. The interesting thing was they never addressed what the harmful chemical was and just sad it was used in the making of anti freeze.

Now I do remember a similar indictment on another thread from some lawyers blog about same chemical being found and come join the lawsuit. Is this a retelling of that old story from a month ago (I think) or new information? It can't just be coincidence.

Best Regards,

Mr.E

CNN and the big bad Wolf tried to be scary, but pointed out that only one of 19 carts tested had antifreeze. And that the test was of 19 carts... and quoted ECA that study is too narrow to be of use.

The FDA admits they have almost no data (one lab, 19 carts, thats a joke lets face it, it's a first year college assignment, not something you make enforceable law out of) and apparently the seizures are on the grounds it is a non approved substance.

Also, others have mentioned (law-e-cigarette/28266-chinese-suppliers-response-fdas-finding-2.html, I cant post links yet) that the cart that had the antifreeze (which might have come from all kinds of contamination, that is why you don't test at one lab, or just one shipment, let alone 19 carts lol) comes from Aboom, which supplies about 10% of juice. Yekkang Dennang, which makes the other 90% of the juice = no antifreeze.

Better still, that thread mentions that Yekkang Dennang is seeking FDA approval, and if that is true, not only do we not have to worry about bans, but we will have more piece of mind about the carts.

Admittedly, it's the same FDA that dosen't have a problem with BHA in baby bottles :)

TO me the decision makes no sense at all. They ban the stuff coming into the States, but yet have not issued any recall or anything in regards to the stuff already here. This tells me they have no bases for there descision and they realize they are going to lose some of there tax money funding there programs because people are not buying analogs.
