Difference between M401 and 510?

Can someone explain the differences between the M401 and the 510? I just bought a 401 and it's quite amazing (excellent battery life, strong throat hit, lotsa smoke), but I've been told the 510 is WAY better.

What I'm mostly interested in knowing:

Battery life compared to 401
What does the cart look like / cart life
Length compared to 401 (longer, shorter?)
Throat Hit, Flavor, etc

As a former M401 lover who made the switch to the 510:

Battery life: less than the 401 (but the 510 is not an economy car, see Cart info)

Cart: easier to fill than the 401 because it is not recessed. Larger cart but life is shorter because it produces LOTS of vapor. The 510 is not an economy car... it is a performance car and uses lots of gas.

Length: longer, heavier, wider... but not so much so to be a problem.

Throat hit, flavor, vapor: MASSIVELY better than the 401.

All my views are based on the 510 with the MANUAL battery. Automatic batteries are just to finicky. Got the 510 because I was incapable of using the 401 in my car without the battery sticking on and haven't used the 401 since!

Appreciate the info... so when you say the cart is not recessed... is it like the 901 carts? I've tried to look at a few pics, but all the stores have pics with caps on the end. The cart looks odd, because it looks tapered like the 901 at the end.

So all of the 510's have a recessed atomizer I'm guessing? doesn't stick up like the 401?

Damn... now I'm going to have to get a 510 :)

So for length... is it as long as a 901? or in between 401 and 901?

Yes, the atomizer is recessed and the cart filling is not, opposite of the 401. I somewhat dislike the fact that the 510 atomizer is recessed because you can't see the coil like you can on the 401 (to check for gunk buildup), but not having to push the little insert up to fill the cart like on the 401 is really nice.

The 401 is about 109mm long. The 510 with the older manual battery (which I think is no longer available) is about 115mm long and with new shorter manual battery is about 111mm long.

Although I don't have a 510, I have read that most people agree that the flavour does suffer somewhat in them (compared to the 401). Would you agree?

That is why I sold my 510, I always got that burnt taste on my juice. I think I would have loved the 510, if the juice tasted the same as it does in my M401

Because it consistently produces so much more vapor, I find I get much more flavor from the 510. It should not taste burnt unless you let the cart get too dry.

Personally, I can't tell much difference between the M402 and 510 manual; vapor production for me has been about the same.

My 402 is an easier draw, probably due to having 4 holes in the atomizer. I've not noticed a burnt taste on the 402, like I've had with the 510. One big difference is that the 410 is harder to refill / restuff. You have to push up the inner cartridge with a safety pin or the like to get to the batting.

I really prefer the M series myself - the 510 always taste burnt, and it is very difficult to clean the burnt taste out. I think the auto batteries on the M series are much better than the auto on the 510 - I will grant that the 510 manual is more consistent than either, but very easy to overheat if you use that manual for power-drags (very tempting, but easily ends up leading to the burnt taste previously mentioned.) I'd take an M over the 510 any day.

Just as a side note, everyone says that its just because its so "powerful" that this or that problem occurs. I have an RN-4072 which gets quite hot and never burnt a cartridge yet.
