Hey Guys,
So I am new at the rebuild stuff and am looking into doing so. I like to know as much as I can before starting. I noticed a lot of people using different kinds of wick and sizes. What is the differences among the types of wicks and is there a particular size that is most popular to use? Or is it just preference and a factor on what you are building.
Same goes as the wire? I am looking to rebuild a Nimbus Clone.
Thanks In Advance

there are almost so many resources that they serve to further confuse us. here is what i have found with countless hours messing around with rebuildables, reading and watching videos:

Kanthal A-1 resistance wire can be had here for cheap: Resistance Wire
most popular sizes would be, from smallest diameter to largest and most resistance to least 32awg, 30, 28

for wicks the materials i have heard of are silica, cotton, stainless steel and hemp. there are other materials that will work but the most information exists about these. many different sizes and variations are available. it would be advisable to find a video or write up on the specific atomiser model you wish to rebuild and find out what materials were used by that individual. there is no right or wrong as long as you are being safe.

There is like an information overload on youtube. Most people seem to be using that wick, I have heard some negative and positives on silica and fiberglass wick. I work at a vape shope and that is the wick we carry. We don't have a lot of people who rebuild in my area, so I want to learn so we can get more people to rebuild.

I've used silica and also Ecowool. The Ecowool is measured by the ID and the silica is measured by the OD. And to throw another loop in there is always sterile cotton which is what I prefer. Sorry to overload. (but sometimes it's kinda fun. Get your post count up so you can check into the Rebuildable thread. sorry for spelling.

You work in a vape shop? How cool is that! :2cool:

I just made my first micro coil with cotton this week and I have to say is it's a lot easier than it looks! I watched a bunch of youtube videos, read a lot on here and downloaded "Vaper's toolbox" app on my android phone to get the general idea.

I've been on a CASAA kick tonight so you should take a minute and join and maybe hang a flyer up in the store! :) (see my banner below!)

I use mostly 28 awg Kanthal and build micros in one form or another mostly. A lot depends on your atomizer and the ohm's you are wanting. Most is preferences. I use cotton for wick, Cheap and wicks great. Going to start using hemp, but waiting on my order to arrive.

I started out with a sample of several different gauges of wire before using 28 awg. So it's best to try several to find what works best for your application.
