So I bought some batteries for my mech mod. Normally I buy brown lgs but they were out. This time I got a Sammy 25 r and an imren "40" amp and "3000" mah. I put those in quotes because I know it's a lie but the guy at the shop said the imren was great for mechs. He said they hit harder than the Browns will and blah blah. So I bought just to try. Anyways I notice a difference between my last brown lg which is about 4 months old and the new imren, the imren "hits" less than the brown lg. Like noticeably. Like it hits at a full charge what the brown lg hits at 3.7 volts. My charger is a luc v4 if that means anything. Anyways I go back to the shop and the guy tries them out and he's saying that the brown lg's are crap compared to the imren and that the imren hits harder and he wouldn't use lg's in a mech. So I went to another shop and the guys there basically agreed with me. Saying that the lg's weye all he uses in his mechs and that imren were crap. So is there any facts to back up one or the other. I mean I know everything is subjective but what do you guys think. The Sammy seems to do just fine with me withas be just a little less of a punch than the lg. So am I just crazy and noticing things that aren't there or what. Is there any data to back up one or the other. And besides vtc's what would be a great battery for some lower resistance builds on mech

Check voltages. It's the only variable. If you use two different batteries on the same build and detect a difference in power, assuming good connection points, there is only one possibility. Your cells are at different voltages. This is Law. Anything else is imagination.

LG HB2 and HB6's are legit good to 30 amps CDR. You won't find anything safer at higher current.

different batteries voltages sag more than others under load.

I would use the HB2 or HB6 in a mech is doing low ohm builds.
The HG2 is a 20 amp battery. A good 20 amp battery though.

The guy at the first shop did not know his .... orifice from an excavation as far as batteries are concerned.

So for checking voltages just charge both batteries fully and the apply one of those multimeters with the red and black probes? I've been looking for the 30 amp lg's but nobody seems to have them even online
As Robert and Edyle said, different batteries will have different voltage sags under load, particularly noticeable with high current draws. The battery voltage without load won't tell you anything. For example, a quality high drain battery might give you 3.9v under load whereas a lower quality might give you 3.6v, even though both will show 4.2v when measured with a multimeter (without load).

Printing my retraction :)

As current draw increases, voltage sag becomes more and more detectable, especially as we approach the cell's C-Rating.

OP, you have allot to learn, you've come to the right place.....please take the advice given....id personally put safety above what "hits hard".after all we do put the mod by our face when we hit the button........and Please...take vape shop advice with a grain of salt, certain exceptions of course.

@BackDoc I mean I know about battery safety and I do look at specs and how certain batteries behave but have only bought non rewraps because both shops near me sell all the batteries for the same price so why get a rewrap when I can't get the real thing for the same price. The only reason why I tried the imren was kinda out of curiosity.but when I was saying "hits harder" I wasn't meaning to sound like a "vapelyfe bruh" guy I was just meaning as in there's a noticeable difference in the performance of the two that I knew I could detect. And the guy at the first shop was making it seem like I was crazy. I just wanted verifiable facts to back up what I was thinking

Hi Belly, Your smart to choose the non re wraps ( ive found most of the time the branded ones are cheaper or the same price as well) "vapelyfe bruh", funny!.........I think I know what you mean now. 95% of the vape shops I've been to out here in PA are sadly uninformed, spewing out random info they heard from another misinformed person. Making a quick buck.....very dangerous for the new vaper.........the exception being 'Good Prophets"/ Rob, who is the real deal, im fortunate to be close to his shop.....that's few and far between today in the vaping scene ........you sound intelligent , and with a little research ( amazing knowledge base here at ECF) you will most likely know more than most vape shop self appointed Guru's.......the Best to you!
