Well, I would buy some to test at the very least.

I think a machine produced product would be better for uniformity - I won`t be carding & spinning my own like something from the middle ages, that`s for sure ;)

It could benefit all atomisers not just oddly designed ones like the siren with is`s canyon sized wick holes,
smaller coils could be used with overall less wicking leading to less problems with oversaturation.

Less need for overcompensating with rayon alone due to it`s habit of compacting.
Likely easier to get wicking right first time with less need to make alterations.

A product that swells "slightly" to fit but wicks like rayon would be great !

There`s probably other materials out there in the world that haven`t been used for vaping yet which work well.

Well put Fad ^^^. I totally agree

Though If I had the means, I would prolly try it just to see how it works, Inquiring Minds Want to Know, and all that.

I think that that's what prompted JeremyR to get the whole Rayon thing going in the first place many moons ago.

I think that that's what prompted JeremyR to get the whole Rayon thing going in the first place many moons ago.

Yet, oddly enough I have seen no other major online discussions, testing or experimentations about discovering other/alternative materials....

whether they be natural, manmade or a combination.

Other than silica, mesh and various incarnations of ceramics....I can`t think of anything else.
None of which set the world on fire....for want of a better phrase.

Rayon must surely have been inspired by the use of cotton, which in itself covers natural fibres such as hemp and whatever else they were using at that time.

It`s about making things easier/better not just change for change`s sake.

Rayon is a remarkably efficient wicking material but certainly has it`s peculiarities and I`m not surprised some people don`t like it....it annoys me sometimes, when it shrinks too much and I have to re-do it.

When it shrinks inside the coil, or I don`t put quite enough in tight enough and you get that "post fire crackle" - that truly drives me insane.

Yes, and that's the only drawback that I have found also. I sure can see the difficulty in using just Rayon in a Siren, that's why I never even tried to do that, but, add some cotton KGD to the mix (I had an Epiphany one night) and I thought that Rayon just might work. Well, we shall see. Like I said, it is fiddly to make the wick, but if it works then that's a bit different story.

I'm gonna vape this Siren 22 down to the bottom of the tank, just to see if I get leakage when I do my refills (from the Rayon shrinking). Right now my juice level is just above the bottom of the deck, so not long to wait and see if it does.

So, Ive been reading and lurking a bit. I had my eye on the siren, but am I reading this correctly that it leaks? *sigh*. This was going to be my next purchase as I am in the market for a single coil tank...

Not to worry, there is a fix, but, Digiflavor has quit making the Siren, so..... Check out the Coppervape Hussar, it is single coil as well. Here's a link to the thread Hussar RTA single coil deck (attack of the clones)

I have (2) of those and like them a whole lot. Here's what I got $19.79 Coppervape Hussar Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 5.7ml / stainless steel / 22mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I was looking at the Hussar, how does it compare to the Aromamizer Plus? I know these are kind of two completely different tanks with different styles of vaping, but I really and digging the flavor out of the Aromamizer, just not liking the amount of juice it consumes (20 ml a day). Also, like I said, want a single coil option as dual coils seem to do absolutely nothing for me.

The Hussar is very very easy on juice consumption, and really really good on flavor. The best of both worlds. I have an Aromamizer V1 6ml myself, and compare it to that. The Hussar wins on both counts.

Fad, if someone was to combine Rayon and Cotton in a 60%/40% mix, you can just bet that they would charge us up the "Ying Yang" for it.

You could bet your bottom dollar on it....

Since I now have my 22mm Siren fixed, I thought I'd try a new experiment with it. I put in a completely new build and wicking. I used 30g twisted Kanthal A-1 with a KGD/Rayon wick. I've been thinking about doing a Hybrid wick for a long time, just never got around to doing it, so, here's how I made it:

WARNING !! This is a fiddly operation to do, but, I can run about 15 to 20 tank fulls thru my Siren KGD builds before I need to replace them, and at about 4ml consumption per day I can get a fair bit thru each build, so the possible gain is worth the effort to me.

1) Laid out a width of KGD (in my case a 10mm wide strip in a 3mm ID coil)
2) Took about ¼ the thickness off of the KGD strip and replaced it with Rayon
3) positioned the new Hybrid wick so that the Rayon was on top when inside the coil
4) separate the KGD from the Rayon
5) ran the KGD down into the wick slot and cut it to just below the wick deck, then glued it to the slot with a drop or two of juice
6) laid the Rayon back on top of the KGD and cut it to just above the bottom of the base of the tank section then laid it into the wick slot and glued it in with another drop or two of juice
7) put the Siren back together, fill, and vape

I'm using this Hybrid wick in my Siren 22 as I type.

The Question. Why would I do such a thing ?? I use the KGD more as a filler for the wick slots and the Rayon as a delivery system for the juice. The KGD to seal off the wick slots to keep the leaking into the deck portion from happening, and the Rayon to transfer the juice to the coil and KGD, plus, I can thin the Rayon below the deck more than the KGD could be thinned and still get good juice transfer up to the coil and KGD wick above the deck, so less wick in the tank and more juice, and I hope, even better flavor from the Rayon.

BTW, I'm using a 60/40 PG mix in my Siren 22mm and no seepage even with this Hybrid wicking.

Digi-Stein. Love the idea, 5-2.

Soooooooooooooo with you, yet I still have great fondness for the fluffy stuff.
