Hello all. I have a MTL question and I think this will be the best place to ask.

I quit smoking a year ago 13 June to be exact. And went straight to a DTL setup and have been at it ever since. I use mostly drippers. And really enjoy the vape.

I got curious about MTL gear and got a Siren recently. Weird thing is if I drag the vape into my mouth (like a cigarette) and then inhale, I sometimes cough. I use 3mg juice and on some occasions 6mg. But both make me cough.

Can someone enlighten me why?

I have heard this can happen. I have no idea why. I would love to know the answer to your question too.

Khanninnarh, I have no idea the reason for your cough. I know that the first couple of years of vaping, I coughed consistently and it really did worry me. (I'm MTL and always have been, so it wasn't due to a vape style.)

A doc finally explained the nature and process of the cilia in our lungs, and how mine were clearing out and cleaning out all the residual from the years of smoking cigarettes. Eventually (seemed like forever), I stopped coughing.

It's also been my experience that new vaper (smoker) most generally coughs when he/she first takes a vape. I believe it's the smoke still in the lungs.

I doubt this is your case, but I thought I'd just mention it. :)

Hey. Thanks.

You are right this is definitely not my case as I have no issues with a big DTL hit.

I was interested in MTL as it's a little stealthier. Less clouds. LOL. But it makes me cough.

Still loving the Siren though. But I've also discovered the Serpent Alto from Wotofo. The draw can be quite tight. Small tank though.

The air flow hole is around 3.5mm, and the KF5 reducers won't fit unless you add a small o-ring to them or widen the reducers' 'legs' a bit.

I'm waiting on some suitable o-rings arriving to test it out.

After a bit of thinking the o-rings I've ordered will probably be a bit too big to fit.

If my maths are right, I'd need o-rings that have a 0.5mm cross-section and a 2 - 2.5mm internal diameter ( can't find any in the UK )

A better idea might be some PTFE tape wrapped around the KF5 reducer to make it a snug fit in the Siren's air hole.

Btw the reducers do fit as they are as standard.

They're just a little bit loose, but don't move or fall out unless the tank is upside down.

Got a new Siren 22 today. It is serial number 3446. Don't know what they have screwing the tops on these things. Must have been the Incredible Hulk. I didn't think I was going to get it undone, ha.

I have one more coming. I went from getting no more to only one more, now two more!

So the Siren finally arrived... first impressions

1) There is No Mtl reducer that came with it... that's a negative.. I read there was a problem with tanks going out without reducers in early production last year, why is this still happening?
Gonna call Vapor DNA tomorrow and ask for one to be sent.

2) With the smallest hole it is very open (obviously no reducer) How much does the reducer affect the airflow?

3) Easy to build on. No leaking at all...so far.

If I try to close it all the way it kinda works as Mtl but without the reducer I'm kinda bummed out.. didn't think I'd have to start tinkering on this tank the first night....gonna tear it apart build a new coil try to use a KF5 reducer in it and use a little mesh to make it fit.

I'm so sorry your Siren came without the airflow reducer that Digiflavor calls the oil film! Did you get the 25 or the 22? The Sirens that Vapor DNA sold initially had no oil film, or as we generally call them on this thread, the diffuser. I am sure they caught a lot of flack about them selling a product for more money than many other vendors without a critical part! You'd think they'd have learned better!!

You may want to look at getting a Protank Mini grommet from Lightening Vapes and installing it into the airflow tube. This is what Ian did to give his Siren a tighter draw. I'll link you to the grommets below, and you might consider looking at Ian's posts on this in this thread for how-to info.

Resistance Coil Insulator 10 Pack RUBBER OR SILICONE (CE Type Atty's, eg. Protank, Evod,T3 etc.)

One other thing that might help is to keep the smallest airflow hole open halfway. That's how I tame my Siren's airflow.

Again, I am so sorry this happened to you! Please let us know what happens with Vapor DNA.

Good luck!!

It's the SS 22mm. The serial number was 36? You think they had them stashed and decided to just sell them anyways? They were on sale.
I tried it on a few diff mods.. the 510 does not seem to thread well with almost all of my mods.. I'm not just talking about a gap, the actual screwing in process is not right and feels off kilter. Thought it was just the first mod I tried but it's pretty much all of them.. I never have that problem with all the other tanks I have...
With no "oil film" and poorly threaded 510, along with a serial number of 36 (how did I get such a low number???) .. it's packed up back in the box..gonna return it.

Guys need some help here. I have a 25mm version and even though I am wicking like before I now get a huge number of dry hits anytime I take a slightly longer drag. Short drags are fine, but the moment the drag is around 3 seconds or so I get a dry hit.

Any ideas on wicking this would be great.

As of now I have the works about halfway into the tank and the wick holes are filled completely.

Just, are these grommetos only for the PT Mini and the Sirens? Would they by chance work on the Egg Rolls as well, ya think?

Wow, an impoverished start, Cosmic, and I do feel for you. That's not a happy experience. I'm one who's been fairly vocal that these tanks are pretty Mae West-ish.

Aren't you concerned about that material being so close to the coil. When exposed to heat ( melting ) then inhaling the vapor?

I don't know about the Egg Rolls. It all depends on how big the airflow hole is. In looking at the Egg Roll, I don't see an airflow hole, but you might be able to fit a grommet into the top of the CLR. The hole in the top of the CLR looks a little larger than the airflow hole the Siren has, so I'm not sure if it would work. If I had a grommet, I'd try it myself, but I don't. The next time I buy wire, I plan to get some grommets too.
