Are there specific vape shrinks these days? (note to self: good new business!)

I don't know Kat, but if any folks might be in need of a vape Shrink, it would be the folks here on this Siren thread. We might "Car Pool" bob, kydo, Kat, what do ya think ??;)

Signing up for the assignment, 5-2, but it's going to have to wait awhile. I'm still doing nothing but refilling and vaping this same ol' smallish and cotton-wicked coil (Fill 5 now, oops, make that Fill 6).

I'll be waiting for your results Kat, Thanks for wanting to Experiment.

You guys Crack me up.:lol:

BTW, I forgot to list in my above post that I have been running 80 PG/20 VG juice in all my tanks for several months now, not the thick stuff many are running. So that should be brought into the picture when I talk about seepage with the Siren. Every once in a while a person will have a Oopsie (Kat ) and do something that is contrary to the Siren's wishes and then find a seep or outright leak. When that happens and you find yourself "FLOODED", just turn your Siren upside down, open to the Biggest air hole, grab a Kleenex and put it loosely around the base (where the air hole is), and give it a couple of good Blows up thru the drip tip, wipe off the base (air ring) good, reset your preferred air hole and vape on. That has always cleared out any excess liquid from my Siren's without taking the whole shebang apart again to redo the build and give it a bath. That's similar to what they did back in the KayFun days, and still holds true today for a "Quick Fix".

You can actually take that technique all the way back to the kartomizer daze, dahlink! I do believe that's when we first learned it.

(and I had to practice it tonite, on a Doggy)

The more that I look at my 22mm Siren, I am more convinced that that bottom o-ring on the glass tank prolly needs to be changed out soon after one gets their Siren V1, ya don't know how long it has been assembled before it was finally sold. Those clear o-rings that the factory put in there are of the "Cheap" variety and don't conform back to their original specs very well after sitting compressed for months, they are also very soft, like Silicone. The "19x1.5mm Buna-N 70" o-ring I put in it's place is working out Great for me. I say all of this because the reason I changed that particular o-ring is because I noticed juice just above the air flow ring and below the glass tube, and since I have changed it all has been dry in that area. The original o-ring was not nicked or torn at all (I checked it out with my magnifiers on) when I pulled it out, it was just flatter in some places than other places. The "Buna-N 70" o-ring is a sturdier o-ring than the ones from the factory. Something ya'll might look at in your Siren 22mm's.

No problems Kat.
I should have put up a link, How Rude of me, Sorry about that, My Bad. It's late for me. All I could find were the plain "Buna" o-rings, not the "Buna-N" that I have, but it should work just the same. I think that the "N" stands for "Nitrile", but don't know if the "N" is really needed for our application here.

Metric Buna O-rings 19 x 1.5mm Price for 25 pcs

Metric Buna 70 O-rings

  • 19mm ID x 22mm OD x 1.5mm C/S
  • 70 Durometer Rubber Buna O-rings
  • Standard Nitrile is also known as Buna-N. Excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels, water and alcohols
  • Price is for 25 pieces for $2.50
or these: (what I have)

1.5mm X 19mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring [N1.50X019] : The O-Ring Store LLC, We make getting O-Rings easy!

There is a minimum order of (5) o-rings at $ 0.10 apiece.

Last wicked 'round three months ago, they're both going pretty strong (knock on head).

How strange - the way I remember the ol' Siren was like this, but I recently dug mine out and wicked it up - vaped pretty well, but now only after 2 days the wicks are as black as a coal miner's ......... Muddied up quite a bit. Couldn't believe it. No leaking, didn't seem to have wicking problems, but the insides are quite burnt up. I've been vaping in TC mode (240 C - don't know what it is in the "old money" - 460?) but perhaps I've set the temp too high.

Anyway, I've re-wicked my second Siren, and we'll go from there again.

Gotta say I quite like the look of the Siren 2, but we'll see I guess. Haven't gone on a spending spree for a while now, so I'm due.

I love the "old money" reference! Yeah - that's pretty hot (from what I understand). I don't know what 11 watts in power mode translates to, but whatever temperature it is, that's where I vape.

Are you using a different juice, maybe? I know some juices gunk stuff up, while others run clean.

I tried the 4mm coil.. but I must have had too much cotton.. or too much vg and it was cold.. but I kept getting dry hits :(

but I was given some cellucotton rayon to try - and love it in my squonkers and wondered about it in the Sirens.. so have experimented with a 3.5mm spaced coil.. placed a thin strip of cotton bacon v2 like a central core rolling it into the middle cellucotton... and am very pleased to report - two tanks and no leaks :) and wicking beautifully...well so far... time will tell :) so I may revisit the 4mm with the cellucotton because it wicks so well !

I would think that too much "VG" and "Cold Temps" will get a person a Long Way toward "Dry Hits". I am using a 4mm coil, KGD, and 80/20 PG dominate juice and at the moment (actually, for the last 18 tank fulls) and have had No Leaks, Seepage, Dry Hits, or even Flooding. I set my air holes to ½ of the smallest air hole also, if that helps you out any. Plus I run at 12 watts, 1.45Ω to 1.50Ω 28g Kanthal A-1, 4.2 Volts, 93°C in xxx mode with an FSK of 13.0 right now on my HΩ G2 with my Siren 22mm ingesting my Menthol/Mint 9mg/ml mix (Playing a bit off of what DPL posted, I site the juice because it is a Clear juice with No Sweeteners added, that I think is at least (usually 80-85ish ml's) some of the reason for my wick longevity). When in "Power" mode I usually stay within a range of 8.5-11 watts with the same build (I am a "cooler vape" type person, "Don't like it Hot").;) Hope this helps someone out there. My :2c:

Edit: How am I doin' on punctuation (I'm a bit rusty), I do have a lot going on up there in that paragraph, but do try to make it Proper Sentence Structure. I am a "Perfectionist", It's a definite curse that I carry around with me. ;) :(

Sorry @1ynne, I forgot to add this into my Paragraph above.
so have experimented with a 3.5mm spaced coil.

Are you experimenting with the 3.5mm coil, or the "Spaced" coil, or both ?? I find that "Spaced" coils give me more/better flavor than "Contact" coils do. How goes it for you ??

I agree and really only use simple single wire spaced coils. Usually I have always built my Sirens with 3.00 ID coils .. and while generally not leaking as such, they do sort of ooze sometimes ! But I still love em ! Your mention of 4mm ID coils made me branch out :) to 3.5 and 4.00 and the gifted cellucotton, was purely experimental as I thought it would fail and leak like crazy - so my tentative approach was the small insert of cotton - just in case, and they are bone dry and not oozing, so maybe size really does matter :)

3mm coils were all I had ever used with my Siren's also, and I too was surprised at the results that the bigger sized coils made, and Very Happy. Glad you found the same results that I did. As long as everything else is in good order with your Siren, the bigger coils of 3.5mm and 4mm seem to do the trick (I still use KGD though, haven't tried Rayon yet in my Siren's). Happy Vaping on a Fantastic Flavor Tank 1ynne.

BY the Way, the Siren is not the only RTA out there that has "Juicy Air Flow Rings". My Coppervape Hussar (I will tackle that one next), Lemo V2 (no hope), and several other of my tanks also do, But, with the way those are put together, I haven't found a fix that works yet, at least the Siren warranted the effort, as far as I was concerned.
