I never thought I would consider DIY’ing my own liquid, but times being what they are, I may not have a choice. Before I jump in full force, I was thinking of getting some Nic Base from some place like ecigexpress and just want to be sure I have this right. I can buy the base at whatever nic level I want (6 for me) and then buy some flavors and then I just have to mix the individual flavors with the base right? Because the VG and PG are already in it at whatever ratio I specify?

Short answer:
Correct.

Long answer:
You can put it in the freezer for really long periods too. You may or may not want to mix in the flavoring first though. The issue is some (but not all) flavorings are damaged by freezing. I’ve heard reports of it happening or not happening depending on I assume a particular flavor.

The issue is unprotonated nicotine is broken down by heat and light freezers have very little of either so the nic stays good far longer.

If you’re short on freezer space you can buy high concentration nic and store only that in the freezer, then mix it down with base later. It is very very unlikely that non lipid oil bases(PG and VG), which is the only kind you should use, will be controlled so you can get more of that easily enough, and they have quite long shelf lives so they don’t actually need to be frozen.

Please don't buy your nic base already diluted down to your finished 6mg nic level that you vape. It is WAY more expensive that way and each Liter will last you a much shorter time.

I figured the difference for another member just last week. She'd planned to pay $72 for 3 Liters of premade 3mg nic base from Nude Nicotine. Each Liter likely would've cost them less than $2.00 to make & bottle. The 3 Liters would last her a total of 1.38 years, based on the amount of eliquid she vapes each day. Instead, she bought 1 Liter of 100mg nic base from them for only $75, and she will dilute it down herself to 3mg when making her eliquids. Based on the same amount of eliquid she vapes per day...that 1 Liter of 100mg nic base will be enough to make all of her eliquid... for the next 15.22 years!

ETA: Also, buying the 100mg nic base from Heartland Vapes @ $44.99 per liter would've saved her an additional $30. However, because she lives in California, where Nude Nicotine is...she preferred to order it from them and receive it quicker. Heartland Vapes is located in Oklahoma, but they ship nationwide, and their nic base is very good quality!

If you'd like help with DIY info (nic base strengths, online calculators to help you figure out the quantities of ingredients in your eliquids, the methods used and supplies needed, trusted vendors to buy nic base, flavorings, PG & VG, etc.)...please send me a private message (PM). I'll be more than happy to work 1-on-1 with you, to help you with those things and to save you some $$.
