found what I needed... Nothing to see here!

/thread

Perhaps not the right forum for the question but quick and dirty…

Top right of the page, click on your username and you should get a pop-up listing the setting "preferences". There you should deselect all the sub-box setting labelled "and receive email notifications". That should do it.

Good luck. :)

But now that we're on the subject, can I tell ya…

ZenForo or its setups here is some kinda the most anti-social email config I've ever run across in my long personal and technical internet career. Really pricelessly useless.

Almost every forum I've had the pleasure to participate on (ECF is no exception for the latter) sends (or by config enables) copies of each and every one of the subscribed user's posts to be sent to the user. ECF never sends cc's of your individual user posts.

I really don't care what is considered modern internet development etiquette or the philosophical premises for it — I'm primarily interested in what I've posted and others have responded. Or, posts that involve me by reference or user name. Pertinent, like posts of friends or people followed. I don't need to see every off-topic remark of every casual drive-by that professes on a thread just 'cause I subscribed to it.

To compound the intrusion of irrelevancy, it's triggered with every thread you link to!

Am I the only one? Right. Exactly.

It exists, in the trading forum. So the functionality is evidently not absent from the forum's capabilities.

If forums, developers, this venue really wanted user engagement this would be fixed (and should have been a long time ago). A gazillion copies of everybody else's comments, no matter how "smart" the engine of the UI might (considered to) be, is worthless to most of us.

Just sayin mods. My rant this a.m. And my apologies for not ranting about this loud and longly some many years ago.

Good luck. :)

I just never watch any threads. Zero emails.

I do get PMs, but that's all I want. If stuff goes on I catch it when I pop in a few times a day. That's me watching the threads I want to, not getting my inbox overstuffed with things I'll likely read later anyway.

Yeah, heard that. Over the years I've tightened the belt on account of the email flood. And that's kinda my point.

Good luck. :)

Funny, because I already did that and still received an e-mail.

I know there should be an easy one click solution in your profile, but my only success has been found with the unwatch thread selection. Including this one, so while I'll just have to check this afternoon for replies, it's just plain less of a headache.

Yeah thanks! I know we know that there's that one check box to rule them all, but knowing where that is in every single forum you are in is hard to know once and remember for good. BTW I didn't get the e-mail this time. Now I'm trying to do the same with twitter, paypal, skype and 3 more forums. SMH at devs

I just click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any emails I no longer want to receive and that works. The ones I really dislike are the web sites that automatically store your email address and put you on the mailing list with asking your permission.

Times are a'changing, though. Some sites will sell or share your address and you suddenly start getting emails from all o them. Unsubscribe works there, but after the fact. You don't know how many other sites shared your address with another site.

How did a website discover my email address? - Ask Leo!

I have no clue what you guys are talking about. I have received zero emails from ECF in the nearly 6 years I have been a member. Obviously other than the very first "Welcome, please confirm your email" when you first sign up.

I have probably the most unique setup to prevent Spam. I run my own mail server with my own domain. I have 1 email address that no one on the planet knows, not my wife, parents, kids, no one. Then I have a unique alias for every single company, web site, or person I send email to. So if some company sells my email address, I delete that alias and stop doing business with that company. If a company refuses to honor unsubscribe requests, then same thing. For the most part though, I have found that companies/web sites, don't normally sell addresses for active accounts or customers, at least not to random 3rd parties. However once you become inactive for a while, they will sell it, I guess to try and squeeze a few last dimes out of your account.

The other possible way spammers can get my email is via data breach of the company/website that had it. I have discovered 2 breaches this way that the company/website hadn't admitted to yet.
