So I just got a pretty good deal on an x cube 2 with a nobunaga rda. It's currently built to .1 ohm. My other high watt low ohm setup is a kbox 200 with a smok tf-rta at .17. Both smok products are 24.5mm & the other 2 are 22mm. I'm thinking about switching the tanks so they fit the mods better. I'm just wondering are there any safety or performance issues I might encounter doing this? I don't know if one has better protections or battery venting or anything like that. This is my first dripper so I don't want to do anything stupid.

Yeah I would like both those attys to have double the resistance they do now. I accidentally ordered the smok with the wrong coils. The guy I got the rda from had it built to be as low as possible for the mod. Whenever I redo the coils I will correct them both. I can vape both but can tell they're not set up ideally for me. The kanger box will fire to .05.

If i remember right, the kanger will only do 0.05 in temp control. That being said, since it is a variable wattage mod, i dont see any reason to go even remotely close to that low with a kanthal build. If i were you, i would try just getting the hang of things with basic coils and run them around 0.5 ohms(if using dual coils, which i imagine you will, that will mean two 1 ohm coils together to equal 0.5 ohms of resistance). From there, just start playing around and find what you like. If i were in your shoes, i would try to keep it above 0.25 ohms.

The more important thing is to make sure you stay in the safe wattage limits of the batteries you are using. If you have 20 amp batteries, dont go over 60w per battery in the device. If they are 30 amp batteries, dont go over 90w per battery. If you have a mod that uses two batteries, dont go over 120w for 20a batteries or 180 for 30a batteries. If the mod uses 3 batteries, dont go over 180 for 20a cells or 270 for 30a cells. Also, make sure you are using genuine batteries(not rewraps).

With any decent mod, it should be safe.. the worse I tend to see, is that it breaks down (chipset) and won't fire, or not charge.

I have several average priced mods (from 40-60$) from Eleaf and others, and the only problems I've had are:

1) internal battery died, as non-replaceable, it's garbage, and why I'll only buy mods that takes 18650 batteries now.

2) putting a battery in, the wrap that was already a bit damaged ripped as I was inserting it and made a bad contact, shorting the battery (venting it) and the sparked fried the chipset, but that was a really stupid accident that thought me how important battery safety is and to be 100% sure that the wrap is in good shape.

I tend to stick to 0.2ohm builds and it's been fine... as far as I'm concerned, below that isn't really worth it nor makes that much of a difference anyways but adds a bit of risk.

The important this is to get good high-discharge batteries (20A-30A), brand names and actual manufacturers such as Sony, LG, Sansung. Any off brand are re-wrapping the second rate batteries from the good brands that didn't pass all the test at 100%.

I have a single to quad coil capable rda, the kr 454 BB, right now I'm only doing it as a single coil, (it's either on a kbox mini 75 or a dripbox 60 and I am using lg h2's). with both mods being a single battery and the last time, while I was going for a .25 with two coils... lol I shorted one coil and it broke.. me being a slacker said "meh" it works with one and I want my coffee fix from it, put the cotton in to get my fix. when I need to change my cotton i'll think about changing it... I don't mind .5 anyhow.

btw that 454 is solid metal... we have a new ram 1500, they are not low tiny trucks... it fell off the dash and out the door(long story) onto a road yesterday(roughly 6' drop and roll)... came away with a slight dimple on one edge. I picked it up, wiped it off, half dismantled it, yep it was fine and was good vape as ever.

Efest are garbage, ditch them and get some LGs Samsungs or Sonys.

Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
  • A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes an important commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

Are You Using a Rewrap (Rebranded) Battery?

  • Learn what a rewrap cell is. If you are using rebranded cell, does that mean it is inferior, poor quality, or even dangerous? Which batteries are suspected to be rebranded batteries.

Today he brought in the rest of his stuff & the other set of batteries is lg. I also got a charger, a couple mech mods, a moonshot, arctic & another crown tank. The moonshot is built at .31 & meets my needs pretty well so I'll have to see what I prefer. I don't really plan on using the mech mods but they're nice to have in case we really can't buy anything in 2 years.
