Go easy! get is snug.. just enough to hold it in place, twist a few times... snug it up and twist again.... do that 5-6 times or as many as needed...and it should be cut or break apart easily.

alright everytime i twist it, it spirals. how can i fix this and keep it still? im using a mini tube cutter

If you don't have a vice:
Take the mouthpiece out
Hold the open end with a pair of needle nosed pliers
Put the tube cutter on about 5mm from the bottom
Gently twist it on until it is tight but you can still spin it
Twist three complete revolutions
Tighten one or two turns
Twist
Tighten
Twist
POP!

If you have a vice, put the connection end in the vice and tighten enough to hold it but not so much as to crush or misshapen it

Oh, and BTW, if your using black or colored tubes, make sure to take the sticker off before you start!

holy cow... that is great!! That just goes to show you how great this forum is. from start to finish, I laid out what I was doing, all the info I got from here... this thread! If you look at the timestamps, those are the exact times I started each of these steps. This is a quick and easy mod that will greatly improve your experience with this carto! Thanks ECF and all who have participated in this thread!

Make sure you put some PTB strips in it or all you'll get is a clear R4.

that is next on the list. I have been sitting here puffing on this for the last 20 minutes, and already it is loving up to the hype. I have some clear r4's on the way with the big bulk buy and let me tell you, I am excited. Guessing that I will just do the ptb mod with those and probably be happy! Vapor production with these is just fantastic. No drop off yet, and should be extra easy to clean.

how does this help with it not spiraling out of control? also i do not have a vice...i did use pliers to hold the free end of the tube but i ended up crushing it with the pliers by accident because i was trying to get a grip on the tube. is there anything else i can use?

If you have needle nose pliers, just grab an edge once you take out the mouthpiece. You won't crush it that way. It doesn't matter what you do to the top of the tube as long as once you cut through, you can still get the guts put without damaging anything. If you put the right amount of pressure on the cutting wheel and gently turn it three times, tighten it one or two turns, turn it, tighten it, and keep repeating, you should cut right through in a few twists. It takes some practice but once you have the technique down, you won't lose control of it.

I use vice grips on one end and the tube cutter on the other.
I don't agree that this is just a clear CE2, the tube is bigger and it seems to make a difference, at least for me. I try the CE2 out of the package and still can't get one to work so I end up putting them in tubes (NO PTB) and they perform perfect. I have never used PTB. I tried it but didn't see a noted difference in the wicking. More trouble for me than it's worth. JMO

No way. Doing the mod but not improving the wicking doesn't change anything. If you like it modded better than stock but you haven't really changed anything that will improve the actual performance then what is really better about it? Two PTB strips on the sides of the cup where the wick comes in gives you an actual performance improvement. If you're stating that it is more trouble than it is worth, you haven't actually tried it. It takes about 20 seconds to cut two strips and push them into the modded carto. If you're willing to go through the effort of cutting the tubes and doing the mod but say that adding PTB is more trouble than it is worth is kinda ridiculous.

JMO= Just my opinion. The tube is larger than stock, by very little but still larger and in my opinion, it is very much improved. I hate the stock CE2's, can't explain why but they are better. Again, I repeat...in my opinion (many others, as well). I have tried PTB many times and for me, not any better. We are all different and all entitled to post our opinions. Right?

I don't do the PTB and am satisfied. Don't know why but it seems to be working better that the stock for whatever reason. I think one aspect might be that you can clean it out more often and more efficiently than when its stock so that you maintain good performance.

Personally I am more than happy with where its at and it is working great. To each his own.

omg this is stupid. i apply the smallest amount of pressure and it still spirals -__-. is the blade of the tube cutter suppose to be able to wiggle a little bit on its own?

No it should not wiggle...also make sure nothing is on the rollers or tube to make it not turn smoothly. There can be no taper either...check to see if the brass connector is wider than the tube causing the rollers to not be parallel with the tube.

I understand what you're saying but you have to admit the tube is bigger, maybe just enough to make it perform better.
That's all I'm saying, no placebo going on here, I've tried many and can sure tell a difference. I'm one happy camper for the first time in 19 month and I'm not looking for anything else to buy that might be better. LOL This has saved me tons of money in the past few months.
