Ok, so here's my short story. I bought my first ecig last Oct and it was a "never light again" thing from the mall and it completely SUCKED! It didn't even feel like I was smoking.

Last night I stopped by 7-11 for a coffee and saw they had the njoy NPro for $20. I figured why the hell not. I gave it a shot and I am impressed with it. Completely different than the mall one I got. I smoke a pack a day of newports and since I got this one last night I've smoked 3 cigs. It feels identical to smoking and I get no cravings at all.

My disappointment comes with the price of the refills. $20 for 5 refills is steep. I get my newports for $25 per carton so the price increase is huge.

I really don't mind the price of the e-cig, the refills is what gets me.

Is there anything out there that feels 100% REAL (dont care what it looks like) that has economical refills?

Thanks everyone!

Ken first off welcome. Second know you are not alone. Nothing feels 100% real (to analogs) but as you already have found it is a great replacement. The path you are on now will cost you a fortune, but like me being in NY you are spending that on smokes anyway----so no great loss. For me I use Joye 510 and eGo. You can get blank cartomizers and fill them yourself (will save tons over what you are doing now). Also you willbe able to use the atty/cart set up out of the box with a juice of your choice and latter you can go with a drip tip and LR atty.

Read the forum there is tons of info and be happy you found this place prior to shelling out $100 on junk.

Ken welcome, i like my 510 but that's just me a lot of people i have noticed like the ego but you got to remember nothing is going to be 100% real because there is no burning or actual smoke there forth its never going to taste exactly like a cig im still new so my answers are all the best but i use to smoke a pack a day and i havent had one since i got my 510.

I get mine (or should I say USED TO get mine) from the Reservations so my cigs are dirt cheap.

I was wondering if I could refill the carts that came with it with different juice?

I didn't realize it but I got the normal flavor and I'm a menthol smoker. Even with that I've smoked 3 real cigs since I got it so I'm happy. I just need to find the right combo that won't kill the wallet.

Just looked at the Njoy website and the Npro is a cartomizer model without a cartridge. If these are designed like most cartomizers you need to take a paper clip and put it in the hole in the center of the cap and remove the cap, then remove the little rubber piece below the cap then you can drip enough juice in the cartomizer to soak the polyfill inside. As soon as you see liquid start pooling above the polyfill you are done. Let it sit about 5 minutes then you can start vaping. If the cap can not be removed you will have to refill with a syringe.

An njoy/npro is the same as an rn4081 = they are not too popular - so you have to look - but you can find cheap cartomizers to go with it - They have a few flavors at azsmokefree at $6.60 for 5. But for even more savings you need to learn to refill them - there are many how to videos on youtube. The npro ones have glued on caps so filling is harder - the cheap ones the cap is not glued on.

The 510 seems like a popular choice. Can you refill that with juices?

I'd love to find a ex Newport smoker and just copy his/her set up.

i recently bought the totally wicked's take on newports the black label tobacco. i bought it for my ex gf... but as an ex menthol smoker - it used to be the only thing i smoked parliament menthols newports malboro menthols and then i moved back to malboro camel filters camel red... point is i think they are great and if you like the menthol flavor you might be impressed with the resemblance of taste it has to a real menthol

Hi Ken,

While I smoked Salem Lights when I started vaping, I used to smoke Newports in the Navy.

First, I would say pretty much forget the store bought stuff. While it may be good equipment, it is going to be so overpriced as to almost not be worth it.

When I started I bought a 510 kit and was happy with it initially. Very quickly though the batteries started lasting less and less time. So, I bought an eGo and have been very happy with it. I prefer dripping as the flavor is better. You can get a drip tip to make it more convinient but they are not absolutely necessary. Cartomizers are great as they last a long time compared to a regular cart and they are more convinient than carts.

If you can remove the cart from your current ecig and see some filler (cotton looking stuff) then you can refil it. Just drip juice straight on the filler material until it looks kinda slushy.

The best menthol juice I have found is actually the dekang menthol but no menthol juice is going to taste like a menthol cigarette.

But above all, do your own research on this forum. There is alot of great information and it is pretty easy to figure things out.

Good Luck

Welcome to ECF! You'll get lots of good advice here. Read, read, read everything you can here. Sooo much good info. Once you get set up with a good e-cig, you'll be surprised to find how much fun not smoking is. I was pretty much a one brand person too. I'm blown away by how many flavors I'm trying & liking. Be sure to check out the ecf library for pics/videos etc. It was overwhelming to me at first, but I did get past that point. Don't get discouraged!

I use the Joye Ego & Joye Ego XL due to their longer battery life than the Joye 510. I knew I'd get too impatient charging batteries all the time. However many people start out with the 510.

Ken the carts on the rig you have can be refilled. Just don't vape them till they tatse burnt and you will be good to go. Many have advice on how to do it but when I had my "Cheapo" first unit I used an tine from a dinner fork to pry that white cap off. Just push it down about 4mm and pry away. The fill has been explained above. This will keep you going until you decide what "real" rig you want to go with. Then it's off to the "Stalking the mailman" thread for you. Good luck

Thanks for all the advice guys but what I'm not understanding is what I need in order to refill.

I was looking at 510 kits and they come with 5 cartridges. Do I just buy the juice in the falvors that I want and fill the cartridges that come with the kit or do I need to get ones with nothing in them?

If someone can just give me a list (or point me to a place where there is one) on everything I'll need to be able to refill my own with the 510 kit.

Thanks

Somewhere in time.
All you should need is juice and maybe a pair of tweezers-and if they are carto's possible a stick pin/fork tine..........I prefer the cartridges cause they're easier. If you do not like what is already in the prefills, as I didn't on my starter-rinse them out well and dry. Then fill with your own stuff:) The process is explained in a few places on here, and it's really simple-sounds alot scarier than it is.
