 Just recieved my Vapor King Ecig 3 days ago. Love the idea and think this is what I want to do (and can do) to replace analogs after 35 years of smoking almost two packs a day of Marlboro lights. At first, even though I didn't really like it, I didn't mind the taste of Cowboy V4L ejuice but the more I vaped the less I liked the sweetness. It seems to stick to my lips and I taste the sweetness all the time (vaping or not). I am trying to figure out if this is the flavor of the ejuice or is this a result of the PG base.
I am looking for some help to get me started on the road to vaping. Until I can ween myself off the analog cigs I need to find as close a replacement for my smokes as possilbe (or at least something that doesn't make me me think I'm eating candy)....at least for now.
I originally ordered Cowboy and Cinnamon Roll from V4L. As far as the V4L Cowboy goes, the throat hit seems okay (possibly too much since I've choke on it several times), Vapor is a little lite, and the taste just doesn't do it for me. I expected the Cinnamon Roll to be sweet and intended to use it for a break from tobacco but both are a little too sweet for my taste. V4L sent me some sample cartomizers and the 555 wasn't bad but seemed to "dry up" after several puffs. It may have been old, hence the freebee. I also ordered the low nicotine level which also seems to be a mistake.
Yes, analog cigs are not the best tasting but after 35 years of smoking, it is what is am looking for when I pull on an Ecig.
What does anyone recommend to get me through the transition. Do I need to go to VG base or do I just need the right "flavor" and nicotine level.
Yes, this is a repost....but I need your help

Just wondering.....has anyone tried vaping unflavored/nic-containing ejuice. Maybe lack of flavor is what I am craving. If you think about it, analogs really don't taste like anyhting you could describe (rich, full, etc. (what to hell does that mean anyway)).

2 packs a day for 35 years? You have lost your sense of smell and taste - especially with regards to regular cigs. Once you have been off regular cigs completely for 3 to 7 days (depends on the person) you will notice a HUGE difference and won't even be able to tolerate the smell of a regular cig.

Not arguing with you but I still have to deal with my taste and prefrences. I truely hope you are right. The fact is I still don't want to quit smoking. I know this and that is why I have not tried to quit in probably 15 years. But if I can switch to ecigs and smoke(vape) healthier I'm on board (family has been after me for years). Might not be the best mindframe going in but that's my problem.

I just started also, before i ordered I emailed V4L and they recommended 24 mg, and either cowboy or kamel so thats what i ordered. they threw in some samples and i am they did as it gave me a chance to try other things. So far the VG cowboys produce the most vapor which i like, but they have a taste i'm a little unsure of, the kamels are not as sweet but seem a little harsh to me. The parliament is smooth and probably my favorite right now. Like you I am searching for the right mix of flavor and vapor production, the 24 mg has worked well as I haven't had an analog since getting my Vapor King, I ust need to find the right flavor that produces alot of vapor as that sems important to me (makes me feel like i'm really smoking).

I didn't really want to quit either, had given up on the idea after trying everything (gum, patch, zyban, nic inhalor, cold turkey). But once I got an e-cig I liked (tried a few models, 510 manual does it for me) and learned how to use it (for my preference which is dripping - everyone is different) I can't consider the possibility of going back to regular cigs.

No question - there is a learning curve, and it may take time to find a device that fits your needs (and a flavour or flavours) that you enjoy - but -

you'll live longer
you won't stink
you'll save money
vape anywhere

many other reasons....

I would not expect any flavor to duplicate an analog. After all the majority of the taste generated from a analog is from burning tobacco and all the chemicals that are generated.

Ya, personally I can't stand the tobacco flavoured juices... love getting my nic hit with minty chocolate or strawberry!

Trying to replicate the analog flavor was the most difficult hurdle to get over. I tried almost every tobacco flavor from V4L, and it never matched the American Spirits. So, I gave up trying to "replicate" and started trying to find something enjoyable: Hilton. Excellent taste and very nice vapor. The trick is to find one that you can enjoy. Then, you will enjoy cigs less. Eventually, when your taste buds return, you will find yourself with English toffee, peanut butter, and coffee. Please don't give up. Remember, you had to "learn" to smoke at one point, and you will "learn to vape" just as well.

Not familiar with that brand of e-cig but if you smoked 2 packs a day you definitely need high or super high (24mg or 36mg) juice to get your fix.

Be careful with this. I was at almost 3 packs a day and high nic about sent me to the hospital. If you get higher nic make sure you have something you can cut it with. As far as flavors, that's pretty much going to be trial and error. What I like may not be your cup of tea, but for a few suggestions, Maybe some French Pipe, Winston and Kamel. Another one I really like is Cuban Cigar mixed with about 25% 555. Again be careful with the nic. We're not getting any younger.

For the closest taste to analogs, IMO, try the Kent from nhaler.com. It's got a dry, burnt, crappy taste. Not knocking it or trying to be funny but that's just the way analogs are. Got a sampler last week and this is going to one of my keepers.

There are some amazing juices that produce great flavors, just not the type of flavors I want coming from my PV.

Appy polly loggies... anyone with heart conditions, medical problems, etc... should not be smoking/vaping period. There's a heath forum on this site everyone should check out. I'm of the opinion that e-cigs are a healthier 'replacement' but also a bridge to reducing your nic intake (since you can control the nic content, gradually reduce) and eventually become addiction free.

Perhaps I am in the best position to empathize with your plight as I, too, was a 2 pack Marlboro light smoker for 35 years. Taste was a major hurdle for me, and, I, also, was not interested in quitting smoking. I wanted an alternative. 555 worked for me and if it is not all PG based...I prefer 50/50 it is not as sweet. Allow yourself to smoke analogs if unsatisfied....I did...and as time went on...the taste buds renewed and my analog craving became less. I am now almost a full year without analogs....by accident. I prefer my tasty flavors now....although, I am a warm flavor freak and not a sweet freak. I like butterscotch, caramel, french toast, waffle and some coffee based flavors. The sweet taste bud is the last to go and you are very sensitive to it. Perhaps a cuban cigar or stronger tobacco flavor and definitely a higher nicotine content and a purchase of some VG to cut it if you find nic is too high. What worked for me? Vape first...smoke second if unsatisfied. Save a "go to" flavor that closely resembled my old habit for cravings and use an ok flavor for hand to mouth and tactile "lollipop" times. Do not give up....Nhaler has inexpensive sample flavors...try them all....or PM me and I will help out with a few samples and support. Many suppliers have sample sizes as well. I found Drewbacco at Nhaler to be a winner.
Good Luck and know you are not the only one that has this experience ...it took me 2 months to find the right combo of flavor and equipment to make a success.

Just remember everyone's tastes are different. You should try several flavors until you find the one that suites your taste (although remember it will most likely change the longer you vape). Try using med level nic and see if that helps I don't recommend starting at the high levels. VG tends to have a sweeter taste, although it does produce more vaper, but if you don't like the sweetness stay with PG.
There is a learning curve to vaping so give yourself some time. Remember you didn't start out smoking 2 pack of analogs and you probably tried various brands to get to where you are now.
Best of luck :)

The taste thing was a biggie for me at the beginning. It was a good thing I was at my daughter's<----the reason I got my first e cig because daughter and son-in-law hate the smell of analogs.
The flavor was a bit of a downer for me at the beginning. It was okay, but just not the same. Since I was there about three weeks, I was pretty much forced to go with what I had.
Since then, I’ve tried several flavors trying to find "the one." After failing, I just used VG with a little vodka in it---pretty plain Jane. A few months ago, I retried a couple and one hit home this time. It was cinnamon. I have yet to retry cherry, but plan on it soon. So don’t throw anything away. Once your taste buds get back to normal, you will be surprised.
You probably should be on a higher nicotine level, but, as already advised, use a little caution.

I'm another advocate of Cuban Cigar as a transition vape. I got mine from Wet Your Stick.

I will also echo the thought to be careful about the nic level in your juice. The other day, I was absent mindedly vaping away on a 36mg juice and suddenly found myself sweating profusely, having heart palpitations, and feeling very light headed. It's a good idea, I guess, to pay attention to what you're doing. :Df

I was in the same boat, smoked 1.5 packs marb light and wanted that same taste. The marb juices just weren't cutting it. I tried the winston flavor and have to say it is the closest thing I've found to an analog. I have also tried some of the blended flavors and they are pretty close too.

To change things up I'll vape vanilla. It is slightly sweet but doesn't linger in your mouth like other sweet flavors. It also produces great vapor and very good nic hit at 26mg. When I want to get my nic level up, that's my go to.

Chocolate mixed with coconut, now that's a win. Mounds...YUM!

Whatever you do, don't give up! Keep trying different things and find the one you hate the least. Stick with it and you will start to like it, and just as everyone on this site promises you will eventually love it. I smoked 1.5 packs a day for over 30 years and it only took me a week to completely get off analogs.

Good luck.

It took me a couple weeks to get used to an e-cig. I never really tried to stop smoking ... it just progressed rather smoothly. At first, I smoked like normal and toyed with my e-cig ... learning the technique, playing with flavors, etc. For me, the flavor that worked in the early days was 555.

Anyway, after a week or so, I started vaping with intentions. Whenever I lit a cig, I also picked up my e-cig & used them simultaneously. The plan was to train my mind to associate vaping with smoking. And it worked. Eventually, I found I smoked less of the cig & got more satisfaction from vaping. After a week or so of the simultaneous thing, I found I wasn't lighting the cig - rather simply picking up the e-cig.

After a couple weeks, I was down from 2+ packs per day to only a few. And then one day, I didn't smoke at all. And the next day, same thing. And 5 months later, I couldn't smoke a whole cig if I had to. They taste NASTY.

So my suggestion is - don't try to force it. Get to know your PV and try different flavors and let things develop.

E-cigs are a journey. And a very pleasant one at that.

Spend some time in the Nicotine section - lots of good info there. Marlboro "Lights" is kind of a misnomer - from what I have read, they contain less tar but about the same level of nicotine as the regular Marlboros. So at 2 packs a day you were getting a pretty good dose of nicotine.

The tobacco flavors haven't really hit a home run with me - they've all tasted a bit like an unlit cig. They do have distinctly different tastes though, just like regular cig brands did. I like 555 the best of the ones I've tried. I have found that I like the menthol flavors better, even though I was never a menthol smoker. They just seem to give me more of a sensation of the real McCoy, and have a nice, refreshing taste. I have also found that coffee flavors make a good substitute for tobacco for me.

Best of luck - finding your "go to" flavor is always a challenge in the beginning.
