So, I have been lusting after the P18+ for some time, but couldn't bring myself to
put out the cash. After getting over my angst about the price, I finally ordered one.

It came in in less than 2 weeks, and after oohing and ahhing over the sleek design,
I put in a batt and screwed on a tank. IT DIDN'T WORK. It was like getting "gut checked"
by Tyson, I was devastated.

I use carto tanks with the carto that has a flange, and I guess the fit is so precise
( no pun intended ), the flange sealed against the top flat enough to allow no draw at all.

Am I missing something? Is there an adjustment I need to make? My current cartos are
working well for me and I really don't want to have to go back to punching cartos.
Not to mention the fact that single coil XL cartos are hard to find.

I hope somebody can help me out. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to see what SuperT's
return policy is.

Sounds like you have a smoketech style tank with the metal flange on the bottom, those will block off airflow and not work on the P+. Shoot me a PM and we'll see what we can work out.

Bummer !!!

On a different note now, but connected somewhat, how cool would it be for Super T to launch an add on accessory which could let you modify/ adjust the air flow ? Somewhat similar to the 306DCA.

Way too cool IMHO.

Actually SuperT was the first to have an airflow control on the original 801 adaptors. It would be cool to see that feature return for the 510 adaptor though.

Actually, i have designed an accessory like that. Its completely different in it's design and doesn't use any of the DCA's engineering, but it does a similar thing. It's just one more in a long line of projects that i have simmering on burner to produce someday...

In case this has not been figured out yet, I use the smoketech carto tanks on my P+, all you need to do is use regular cartos such as the smoketech single coils or dual coils without the flange, you will need to punch your own cartos but there are some nifty devices that do that. There is really no need for the flange on a precise because the bottom of the tank sits flush with the top cap.

I build my own tanks, and I use the smoketech carto's with it. What I do is I cut the flange off with an old pair of fingernail clippers. It's actually only made out of some sort of diecast which is very easy to cut. Just cut the flange off around the edge and then pull the tank up just enough to allow a small gap for airflow. It's very easy, and if you had just put some thought it instead of getting so upset, you wouldn't have any issues!

Take it easy and just get rid of that flange. :D

While I have been lusting after the P18+ for a while, the comments about angst and gutchecks,
was just me being overly dramatic and a little snarky. I have made my share of tanks and modded
cartos in the past, but I am tired of all that and just want to be able to buy my supplies and
use them with no fiddling.

All that being said, David has a fix for this, and I'll go on my merry way.

note - the short 510 to 510 adapter does make the flanged cartos usable, it just looks a little goofy IMHO.

Amen about not having to fiddle!

Big Daddy Vapor has all sorts of cartos in stock, XL, regular, single and dual coil, all prepunched or unpunched. That's where I buy mine.
