i just received my new vapor king kit today. not too impressed. luckily i got 2 batteries, as both have gone flat within 3 hours! also, after about 10 puffs, i get the horrible burnt taste i've read so much about. this is happening with pre filled catridges and also when i fill one with ejuice.
i'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong? i've read so much and felt that i was quite prepared, but it's not an enjoyable experience for me as yet......

any ideas please?

I having been vaping all that long myself. My PV is a 510.

FWIR, some distributors pre charge the batteries before shipping, because most of us will hit out new toy on arrival. The 510 calls for an overnight charge of the batts, followed by a 20 min use, the a 1hr charge. This primes the battery and after that just charge the battery until the light turns green. Luckily enough my kit came in at noon so I was able to do this relatively easy. Mind you I had a back up system

Some attys have a preservative on them, most say it is just plain old PG, others state it could be anything, depending where the stuff comes from.

When you first get your atty, blow it out from the battery end, hard a couple of times in a paper towel. Then gently place paper towel to wick away all remaining liquid. You will be surprised of much the PT wicks. Place your atty on the battery ang give it a couple of 3 second burst (manual bats) to burn off anything still present.

Drip 2 to 3 drops of juice on the atty to prime it, and tail pipe that without enhaling. You will be able to detect any bad tastes etc...

I ordered unfilled carts so it was easy to fill with the juice I wanted, in my case RY4. Ensure the cart is topped off and enjoy. Take 3 or for hits, and let the cig rest between.

From my 2 part system I discovered that I needed at least 3 sticks to meet my previous hrly smoking needs. This allows me to let each stick rest for 40 minutes or so (which is important for extended atty life). Sooo, when I ordered my kit I orderd an extra atty and batt.

I also orderd a direct passthru for when I reply to folks ;). This is something I also discovered during my 2 part system. I would sit and puff every few minutes or so while sitting in front of the keyboard.

I quickly found out that polyfill is garbage, and did the pyramid tea bag mod for my carts, oooooooooh yeah! now we are talking. The info I gathered through these forums.

I hope I was able to offer some insight into what may be happening. In closing, vaping is a different way of acquiring nicotine, and is not done like smoking analogs.

hi macarthurbug,

yep, i ordered 2 bottles of juice. 5 prefilled cartomisers also came with the kit. both those and the ones i fill myself seem to get the burnt taste very fast. both batteries are on their 3rd charge for the day now. that doesn't seem right to me...
i ordered another battery and atomizer just before. looks like i'll need plenty!

Filling those carts every little bit can be a pain.

I moved to cartomizers for that very reason and you may want to check into them.

I'm not familiar with the vaporking products..so im not sure exactly what they are.

Most e cigs are adaptable to cartomizers...with a small adapter you can purchase.

Just an idea....for you to ponder.

As for those batteries...if they arent holding a charge for a few hours...I would consider contacting the place you ordered them and maybe asking for an exchange.

Don't give up ! It's a learning experience...and after you finally get it going well, you are going to love it.

ANother idea...If I knew then what i know now....I would have started off with the disposable 510's ....I've seen people state that they are lasting months...still going strong. And the whole thing is 9.99 a piece...so if it were me, I'd grab about 3 of them...and vape until I decided exactly what i wanted later on. madvapes has them and a few others carry them.

Good luck you to..and i do hope this has helped somewhat.

hi switched,

thanks for so much informative info! i just did a little experiment.... i am a quilter and decided to load a cartridge with some of my quilt batting. no better or worse than the filler which was in there before. will definitely be buying some pyramid teabags tomorrow, have read quite a few raves about them, and saw a video. is it normal to get a very slight crackling noise when drawing on an ecig? since i have zero experience with ecigs, i'm trying really hard to apply common sense, but even that seems to be failing me.

thanks so much everyone, you guys are awesome!

You got a Vapor King which uses cartomizers (more of a clarification for Clumsy as you seem to know). Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you shouldn't add additional filling to them.
Try to take long, controlled drags off of it. "Hard" drags tend to result in the cartomizer burning prematurely.

Unless I'm mistaken, your Vapor King is either a KR808D-1 model or something very similar which has only two parts, a battery and a cartomizer. After reading your concerns I'm wondering if maybe you may be vaping too much or too fast. I started out with a 2-piece KR8 model myself and have since been using a Joye 510, but a few important principals about how work may help you.

Depending on your model, the cartomizer or cartridge holds the e-juice in a filler material. The juice has to saturate the atomizer in order to obtain the vapor we want and this takes a little time. What I mean is that if you take a nice strong vape or two you have pretty much used what juice that had saturated the atty. Now it takes a little time for the juice to re-saturate the atty and the way it does that is capillary action. Put one drop of water on a plate and touch the very corner of a tissue to that drop and you'll see that it takes a little time for that drop to saturate the tissue as much as it is going to (that corner).

When I vape, I take one or two good hits then let my PV sit for a good minute or so before I know that it has had time for the juice to re-saturate the atty and now it is ready to be vaped again. If I just take one vape after another with only a few seconds or so in between, then it doesn't have enough time for the atty to get wet with juice. Take a vape, then let it sit for at least a minute then try again and see if this helps. Just make sure that your filler material is good and moist. Once you start to notice less vapor and a harsher burnt taste, it's time to add some juice.

Unless you build or purchase a battery mod or longer-life battery, then you can only expect your battery to last about 2 hours or so with steady vaping. My KR8 had automatic batteries and I learned that I got my best performance when I only vaped (took a drag into my mouth) just hard enough to light up the LED on my battery. A stronger hit actually gave me less vapor, throat hit and flavor. Even with my manual batteries on my 510 I still vape only lightly.

So if you are vaping with little rest between vapes, you're not giving the atty time to re-saturate with juice and your battery will not last you very long. I'm not saying that this is your problem, but understanding how these things work may give you a better vaping experience.

Only trying to help.

No, it's not a V4L product. It is from Vapor King.

    hi there,

yep, that's what i've resorted to, but sheesh! does one really want to keep adding drops every 20 minutes or so? not good on long car trips..lol
    thanks for your thoughts. :)

That's exactly what many people (myself included) prefer to do. Different brands of E-Juice produce different quality & quantity of vapor. Maybe different juice would help? There are also some easy cartridge mods that may help you too. :)

There's the Vapor King KR8 that Vapor4Life sells, but there's also a 510 Vapor King sold by another company. It sounds like the OP has the 510, not the KR8.

I've only tried a couple of cart mods with my 510 atty--straw and PTB--but I quickly just switched to direct dripping. Others report awesome results, but I didn't see them. I figured if I was going to have to top off that often, I'd skip the filler and just drip. I recently bought an adapter so that I could use cartomizers while out and about, and those work well for me.

There is a learning curve, and sometimes it takes some time to get all this figured out so that one can begin to actually enjoy it. You *will* get there; it just may take a little time to work out the details. Best wishes!

ok, i kept a battery on charge overnight. i got a whole hour and a half use from that. whoopy! have had to have both batteries alternating on the charger all day. also went and got the pyramid teabags. what's the big deal? they seem no different to what was in the carts.... unless i'm not loading them properly.
had just about enough of the whole business i think!

Those batts I believe are 280 mah which is the same as the mega 510 batts so hour and a half sounds about right. I used regular 510 to start with at 180 mah and got tired of the battery carousel. Vaping on a Tornado/Ego now which has 650 mah batts which last me roughly 8-10 hours. But mostly use a passthrough while sitting around the house.
