So I've had my GLV2 for about a week. When I first got it I was ecstatic to say the least.. But then I noticed the charger came, but no batteries.. Wow, I paid $135 dollars for this thing, waited about 10 days for it, it finally gets to my house, and I can't use it. No big deal..... I found a battery store close to my house that sold batteries that fit the charger that was shipped..

I sent a message to Jay about the batteries the day I opened the package and his reply was less than helpful.. Something about chinese holidays screwing him up...

whatever,.. i gave him a chance to send them out.. still no dice with the batteries. So I sent him a PM today about still not receiving the batteries that I paid for..

Then tonight while I'm chilin on the couch, taking a couple puffs on the GLV2..

and..... BOOM:ohmy:

the ... thing explodes in my hand while i'm taking a drag. (before you ask, yes the batteries were in the correct way, and yes they were the correct battery, CR123)

Needless to say.. I don't recommend this product,... the only thing I'm happy about is the vent hole in the bottom of device that screws on.. I still got some junk from the battery in my eye when it exploded but I ran to the sink and rinsed it.. Hopefully I won't wake up blind in the morning.

I really hope Jay will refund my money, I do not want a replacement.

Doesn't look good :( They were definitely rechargeable cells and not primary (i.e. non rechargeable) batteries were they? I've never seen rechargeable li-ion's in a local store, only the non rechargeable CR123's (often used in camera's).

definitely rechargeable.. I checked before i purchased..

Were they protected batteries?

You should only use protected batteries with an e-cig. Also, the hole on the bottom probably saved your hand from injury.

Non protected batteries can explode under certain conditions- especially when used in series, which is how they are used in the GLV2.

Ok... had to take a moment to check facts.

First off, were the batteries protected?

Second, if there was a short in the device (defect in the GLV2) that would not have caused this with protected batteries which have a cut off to keep them from over discharging or being damaged by over current.

I dont recognize those batteries. What brand are they?
Can you please post so others can know what they are?

The particular pv would have nothing to do with a battery incident in most cases.

Glad you are ok.. bet that was scary as hell..

The last explosion I saw on this forum was a person that used non rechargeable batts..

After a bit of research,.. they are in fact UNPROTECTED.. do NOT buy NUON cr123 batteries!!!

I wish this was listed on the site prior to my purchase.. ESPECIALLY since i purchased the correct battery from GLV and they did not come with my order.. Maybe this isn't the devices fault, but I did send Jay a PM, ..and posted on his GLV2 thread that I needed batteries that were not included with my purchase... the only reply i got was about some "chinese holidays" that screwed him up.. Not my problem..

Thanks for everyone else on here who could tell me that UNPROTECTED batteries COULD/WILL result in CATASTROPHE... shouldn't I have read that on his site???

i really hope this saves any serious injury in the future...

I was just about to say that thos e batts are unprotected. You'd be able to see the PCB board especially with the "skin" coming off of them in your pics. Trying to pull a lot of current out of a unprotected, and most likely a lower quality battery is a bad idea. I know you should have recieved your batts with your GLV order, but you could have sourced them elsewhere as well. They are available from a lot of vendors on here, and would have been a much better option than just getting some noname batts to use to tide you over. I'd clean your GLV up and try some correct batts in it, I'd bet it still fires up. If it's a $ situation with the batts, PM me and I'll send you a set to use until you get your originally ordered ones in from Jay

Sorry this happened to you. You should've done more research on HV devices and batteries. Anyone that's gonna stack batteries should know to only use protected. I recently got a BB from Altsmoke and read everything i possibly could about the device and the batteries. This is exactly why they don't recommend stacking batteries because someone will use the wrong ones and have them blow up.
