This might be a silly question but I do NOT want to mess up my GGTS.

I have noticed black discoloration on the outer tube where I rest my fingers. This is probably due to not only my personal bodily system but also all the lotion I use on my hands. ( I do not wear costume jewelry since I turn it black very quickly.)

What is the best way to remove the black icky? I tried Brasso but that only partially removed it. As I stated above, I do not want to mar my GGTS and have not clue what to do. 8-o

Lisa knows everything about how to shine the GG but other people here knows, they will help you soon when they will see your post.:)
Discoloration is because of dirty hands or hands with oil, or from this lotion you use. Other factors can do that too. Its nothing serious, it can be removed very easy with a product that shines metals.

Apart from wearing gloves only joking to get oily deposits off you can use vodka or gin then polish with any metal or car wax as long as not abrasive:rolleyes:

Hey, From time to time, I shine mine up with a product called "Autosol" Its a product for Metal Polishing, It cleans it up real nice. I would have to think the Brasso would work too, Since that is for metals also... Sometimes it takes a little elbow greese. I know some others use treated jewelry rags...the ones that are made to shine up your jewelry. Mist from this forum turned me on to the product Autosol and I purchased it over the internet.

I use the treated polishing cloth for sterling silver. I give it a good rub down every night before bedtime. If you body chemistry turns metal dark you will probably need a good metal polish too. Brasso isn't the best one. The men will chime in on that I am sure. You still may like the cloth for between times. You look like a girl that likes bling. You already have one recommendation. I am sure you will get several.:)

If you are not sure what to use to buff out the marks, go to the hardware store, bring the GG and show them. Im sure they will recommend a product that will work fine. I went to my local hardware store and got this called "Never Dull" magic wadding polish. about $5.99. Works perfect for me after imprints looked stained on GG, use a little elbow grease and should come out like mine fine!....

Vapn also mentioned that '"never dull' wadding stuff to me - it sounds fabulous, not sure we have anything similar to that in the UK.

I used to be "expert" on shining GGs, but that was on the old models. This GGTS is different and requires slightly different treatment, specially with this small amount of discolouration that seems to be ocurring.
I have some metal polishes on the way to try out, I will report back (if I remember :D)

Good point. Need to stop listening to my crazy engineer husband who does not vape. LOL

I take my rings and bracelets to a jewelry store for cleaning..wonder if they would clean up my GGTS?! lol

Seriously though, I will look for the polishing cloth tomorrow. I seriously do not want to mar my favorite vap machine. :D

I did successfully use my dremel buffing pads with polishing compound on my original trans but I didn't want to risk it on the TS because of the unique finish that it has.
I dug out my silver polishing cloth tonight and got GREAT results. Lay the cloth on your knee and rub the device over it in the direction of the "grain".

I really want to get some of that stuff..........

Here is a question..is there something that can be used as a protectant against this sort of blemish?

We have discussed how to remove it but what about preventing it?

I have some polishes coming (must chase those up) that are supposed to also provide a protective barrier...........I will post my results when I've tried them. :)
