Why don't you send rejoice a GGTS to test in those condition? If it works out he/she can buy it, if not he/she can send it back. It benefits you for your research and he/she doesn't waste money or time.

We already found the problem Harpo as you saw. But my offer to Rejoice still exists. She can return it to me any time

I can tell from the pictures that you hold your just like I do. My thumb goes where the mark is in the first picture. My finger right over the button. :):):)

Does your pinky stick up in the air when using it? My husband says I look like I am sipping tea from a tiny china cup...lol

Crash, try the Nevr Dull. It really did work without a lot of elbow grease.

somewhere out there......
when I used polish I got the same thing on other mods as well. So I decieded that keeping things shiny might be making those marks faster. With the oils on our hand mixes with the chemicals from the polish caused it to blacken faster. I highly recomend using a metal cleaner. And keep cleaning it until the cloth or rag shows no more black. then use a buffer for nails to get that shine you want. THis will help keep the black to a minimum. All that black stuff is oil and salt build up from your hands.

Also keep your hands clean using dawn (degreaser) after using lotion or eating. Doing this before using your GG or any mod will also help with build up of oils.

Since doing this method several months ago with my GGT I only need to clean it once every two weeks besides the button. The brass is a different story though. :)

I ordered some Flitz tonight. I also ordered a 6" bench top polishing system with all the wheels, polish bars and other goodies to put a top notch shine on anything. I'm hoping the Flitz will help "lock out" the contaminents. We will see soon...

To clean and protect my mods I use a German product called "Flitz". This will not only clean stains off the metal but leaves a protective coating that will seal the metal against oxidation etc.

I am sure that we all have our favorite products but I have been using this product for over 10 years and have been happy with the results.

Hey Imeo I wonder if you can make or get one those protective clear covers for the ggts like those for the GGT.... maybe that could help with those who are around things that cause these problems.

I made covers for my Slims using a roll of clear packaging tape, the type used for wrapping parcels.
If you cut it to exactly the right size, take care not to get any fingerprints on the sticky side, and avoid introducing air bubbles then it is almost invisible when applied, especially on the brass Slim.
It takes some trial and error to get the size correct, and to wrap it straight so the 'join line' is barely visible, but its possible.
I used a hot paperclip (with Slim battery removed!) to melt away the covering over the safety hole.

I found it Ace Hardware. I also looked at Lowes and Home Depot but no luck. I did not try Wal Mart but the Nevr Dull website says they carry it.
I found it at amazon.com and ordered it. I tried the toothpaste but I had mine so black I'm not sure if it was the dye from my gloves that I couldn't get it all off still had dark blemishes. I bought something today which is a stainless steel aluminum cleaner - for sinks that looks like ajax. Put a little water on a cloth put - its called Cameo - on the wet spot and applied it to the part that was black rinsed it with water and wiped it clean with a scottowel. It now looks like the day I bought it.
