Hi im new to this forum im trying to help my father quit smoking as he smokes in the back room of the house and wakes me up every time he does!! I was reading some of these forums and he said he would try the E-Cig it but is very sceptical as he says with his anologs he is fussy in regard to what brand he smokes and likes a light cigarette and he says he cant take a regular non-filter/cigarette as it is hard on the throat just wondered what would be good to start him on? also im from canada so i wonder what would a good supplier be? any help would be appreciated thanx :D:cool:

Most people i have introduced e cigs to have stopped smoking in the first 2 weeks.
What brand of cigs does your dad smoke?
What's your budget like?

As far as the flavors, I have found that most of the ones I have tried are nowhere near as strong as a real ciggarette (even lights). After using a pv, analogs are just plain NASTY tasting in comparrison and make me wonder why anyone (like me) ever starts them in the first place.

As to which models to pick, well it depends on his level of willingness to fiddle with stuff.

Low tollerance for fiddling = a 2 peice system, ie a cartomizer type.

Higher tollerance for fiddling, just about everything else :)

So I would nail down wich of the 2 above he is, and look at either a cartomizer type, or hit up the stickies in the new members section for suggestions.

Having said that, I stopped smoking after 25+ years upon the first use of my 510 with manual battery.

The route many seem to go with is something close to the look of an analog, as they think that matters. Then after trying them and seeing that they work, end up going for something with more battery life. Some might suggest going straight for a bigger mod, but theres nothing wrong with the cheaper approach to see if its for you (or him) first.

Good luck.

He smokes Players Light (or standard the call them now as they cant call them Light anymore) As for budget if he would quit as he smokes at least a pack a day and they are $10 a pack here so im sure E-cigs would cost less then half easy! Im looking for a decent starter kit and a fairly good supply for refills etc. and good shipping here to ON Canada

Canadian from Ontario here, I'll plug some of the local guys.. Also you might want to try the Canadian Forum on here.

Happy Vaper - Canadian Quality Electronic Cigarette/Personal Vaporizers and DIY Smoke Liquid
Happy vaper sells the 510, which many users here like and recommend. The guy who runs the company is based out of Toronto. He holds get togethers in the Toronto area. Check on the Canadian Forum here. He has lots of e-juice flavors but doesn't sell any juice with nicotine. He's the guy you would want to setup your Dad and show him how to use it, if you are local.
*disclaimer - I have never bought any product from this company, this advice is based on other users reviews

Vapables.com
Sells only e-juice with nicotine. Again from Ontario. I have emailed them and got a response within minutes to my questions. My order was at my door the next day. They use Express Post?? Canada post, so its 1-3 days delivery time.

Vapes Mart - Canada's #1 Supplier of Personal Vaporizers and Accessories
The product they carry of interest is 36mg flavorless e-juice. This can be mixed with no-nic e-juice with flavor. They also carry the 810 (which I use) and the 910. If you order e-cigs from here, they are cheaper than happy vapor but you get a bit less customer service. Also make sure you check on the website that the juice is in stock before you order it, or you'll be waiting. That means clicking on the description of the juice to get the full screen view, not the add to cart..

You can also order from China. You will get all the products much cheaper, but it will take 2 weeks. Also there has been problems with getting it past customs. China suppliers are good with refunding/sending again so you don't loose your money, but you are stuck waiting. I would suggest you order your 1st time from a local guy, so you get it quick with some support.

I saw one of those KR808's today for the first time, got to try it too. I prefer my 510 but I drip. For a new vaper, especially an older person less inclined to want to fiddle with things I would totally recommend the KR808. It seems the least likely to easily frustrate someone as "new fangled gadgets" are known to do to older people. Low nic content would likely be sufficiant, and you'd just have to get him a variety of flavors to try. You never know what your main vape is going to be until you start trying. Most people start with the thought that they want it to taste like their favorite brand and quickly abadon that tought.

I wen't from wanting camel wides (or the closest flavor I could get) to vaping strawberry about 90% of the time. Get him a bunch to try and when he finds the one that works for him you'll know because it'll be glued to his lips worse than an infant with a pacifier :p
