Hi, I'm new to this forum as my husband finally agreed to try ecigs. He is a longtime smoker (20+ years) and has promised to quit SO many times. The regular quit smoking aids don't seem to help long term so he is sceptical of e cigarettes. So I want to buy something that is very easy to pick up and start. I don't think that initially he will have the patience to mess around with liquid or whatever so what does everyone recommend? I believe, through my very brief research, that you can get cartridges with the flavour already infused, no messing around with adding your own. Anyway, I would appreciate recommendations from an experienced "vaper". Thank you.

Hi Punz and welcome to ECF. Pre filled cartridges are expensive and not really that tasty. I just bought a kit for a gentleman that wanted no hassle and a good vape. I left him some notes but literally gave him the PV, showed him how to refill and left- less than 5 minutes. Called him a few days later and all was good. He's now vaping 2+ weeks and having no problems and has quit analogs. Here's the kit I got for him. Everything you need to get started except for juice:
eGo Vision Stardust & Extreme Vision Custom Kit 1100mAh

Yes you unscrew the tip off, tilt the clearomizers, drip some juice in, put tip back on and vape. Usually enough juice for a few hours depending on the amount he vapes. It'sw also a manual rather than an automatice:
Manual beter because:
less chance of damage from juice
won't go off from loud sounds
puts the vaper in complete control. If a stronger vape is needed just hold the button down longer. The automatics have a shut off system- usually 8- 10 secs.
LR stands fro low resistance and gives a warmer vape.
read somewhere else about someone moistening a cotton pad or something and then getting a burn taste so I don't really want to deal with that.
Yes those are cartomizers systems. If they aren't first filled properly or run dry the stuffing/ filler will burn and the taste is impossible to get out. The clearomizers have a wick and element and no filler/ stuffing- you can see how much juice is left so very little chance of burning/ bad taste.

I'm only a month into vaping so not that experienced.
As a Canadian, one of the things you should keep in mind is how easy it is to get supplies locally. Once you get past 5 posts, go to the Canadian sub forum. Lots of local help there.
I tried some of those prefilled ones before and found them lacking.
I tried the eGo like the one Vapoor eye er pointed it and have not smoked since.

Check out the volt from smokeless image. Since he is reluctant, I would get him a cig look-a-like. The volt is the same as the halo g6 but much cheaper, the cartos last longer and they have the best customer service around. They do sell prefilled cartos for about $9, but they can easily be refilled about 15 times. It's just a matter of putting a few drops in the top or filling the boot and pushing the carto into the boot. It only costs about 20-30cents to refill so it's a big savings

Hello, and welcome to ECF!

tell him not to be skeptical. It will work. The hardest thing for me so far is finding my favorite juice. I still smoke the ones i have even if its not that great after a few days they taste better than analogs anyway.

That is one problem - finding a right juice can be harder that finding the right equipment. And this whole vaping experience... I think one needs to be very much involved and, to a point, clearly dedicated to this in order to work. I'm not saying anything bad, really - just that in spite of it being the easiest way to stop smoking, it still takes some effort.

It may very well be that all he needs is a proof that this could work - in which case you should just go for the most basic thing out there that works, and the Smokeless Image kit should absolutely do the trick. I would not overthink this right now - if he wants to do this, he will need to look into it himself eventually and decide which hardware and which juices he should try for the next step. Just make sure that you get at least two Volt batteries, some prefilled cartomizers and some blanks and a bottle of juice for him. The rest however, is entirely up to him and there is little you can do to make him succeed, although I know wives can be pretty resourceful at that too :)

Welcome to ECF Punz!! Lots of options and choices, the Volt is a good beginner setup.

And if he's stubborn, get him to talk to us!! There's many of us that smoked for twice
as long or longer than your DH, and never thought we could quit.

Vaping isn't exactly quitting so much as switching to a much safer nicotine delivery system...:)

when i decided to try vaping, I had no intention on giving up he nicotine habit, just the nasty smoking. I love the action of smoking. Holding the cig, inhaling it,you name it, I just hate the smell, the way it makes my lungs feel and honestly, the taste. I hid my smoking from my children and my family. The only person who knew I smoked was my wife. I was very tired of spraying down with axe when getting out of the car, and immediately running to the bathroom to clean up and rinse my mouth. The only reason my clothes didnt smell as much was because I work outside and thats where I smoked. The last straw for me was when my kids noticed the smoke smell in my truck one day. I knew I had to give it up, but there was no way I could give up the habits that are associated with smoking.

Vaping gives you that satisfaction. I know that the veterans put the mini down, however, it does help to satisfy that part of the addiction. Once you get used to it, its easy to transition to a larger battery that doesnt look like an analog.

Now, I use the small battery on the road so I still feel like I'm smoking in the truck and the larger batteries with clearomizers at home. Its the best of both worlds.

Have you husband come on here and talk to some people. We have all been through what he is going through

Thanks for all the info. I think that I am leaning towards the eGo Twist. Just have to discuss it with hubby now.

A couple things you might want to consider before you decide on a Twist.

For the amount of time it runs between charges, a Twist is one of the largest e-cigs out there. The 650mah will last maybe 5 hours for the average vaper and is as big as other models that run nearly twice as long. The 1000mah will last about 8 hours between charges and is absolutely huge. It's not that big around, but it's ridiculously long.

The Twist is a terrible choice if it's your only e-cig. What will he use during the hours they take to charge? The 650mah version doesn't last all day and will take a few hours to charge. It may need charging twice a day. The 1000mah might last most of the day, but what will he use during the 5 or so hours it takes to charge? You definitely don't want to leave them on a charger overnight.

And this is all not to mention what happens if, for some reason, his Twist malfunctions. These are mass produced Chinese e-cigs. They aren't exactly fail-proof. Nothing will send hubby back to cigarettes faster than a dead e-cig and nothing to back it up.

Unless you get two of them so you can use one while the other charges, it's not going to be a very good situation. If you gt two of them, you'll spend as much as you would on a real, full featured variable voltage e-cig with two batteries that you can replace for a few dollars instead of throwing your whole e-cig away when it wears out.

For a new vaper, especially a somewhat reluctant one, you'd be wise to avoid the variable voltage models for now. It's an unnecessary complication that he doesn't need and likely won't appreciate while he's still transitioning from smoker to vaper. Keep it simple, effective and time-tested. The best choice in your situation is the Volt from smokelessimage. This is coming from someone who generally hates cigarette style e-cigs and rarely recommends one. But in certain cases, they are clearly the best option and, IMO, this is one of those cases.

Well said!
The best choice is the one that will be used.
