What's to Explain?
The FDA is asking people to Comment on e-Cigarette use. Do you think the Only People who are Commenting are Pro e-Cigarettes?
Yes, I do think that going back in, making a big point of upbraiding a total stranger on their behavior does qualify as accosting. If he'd simply made the comment then and there, while it was happening, that would be "talking." Making a big point of it, calling some stranger to account for their behavior, yes, it's accosting, and it's at least equally rude as the stranger's behavior, if not moreso.

The part where the public would know whether or not someone asked to vape indoors.
I can't think of a better time to expose as many people in the general public to the relative harmlessness and good natured respect of vapers.
Sure... But that Only Works if you are Not Angering More People by one's actions.
And I am Sure that there were people who were standing in line of the OP Description that were Not Happy with what they Saw. As well as Other people in the Store.
They might not have said Anything. But I would hate to think if they went and Made a Negative Comment to the FDA. Where if that Dude hadn't Vaped while standing in line, that they would have left No Comment what so ever.
What makes you so sure of this?
Just as possible that someone saw it, and wrote to the FDA along lines of, "now that I've seen this in action and realize it is way different than smoking, I really hope you don't harshly regulate these things. My experience, as one who doesn't use these things, is very positive."
I'm as sure of that occurring as you are so sure of the opposite happening.
Considering he came to ECF to post about "That Disrespectful Punk", it's pretty easy for me to imagine how the talk went.
Because Most of the People I know who do Not Use e-Cigarettes, which is most of them, have the Attitude that what you do is Your Business. Just as long as you don't do it around Me or My Kids.
Not say'n this is Right or Wrong. Just how they Feel.
The OP, where he calls he guy a disrespectful punk? Yeah, I saw that. Accosting him sound like a reasonable description, and we're only hearing one side. It would likely sound even worse if we heard the so-called "punks" side.

Thank you for taking the time to read, take apart and analyze my post. You make some valid points. You also miss some valid points.
Simply because a Meeting is Based on sudo-science does NOT negate a back sided agenda. Do we agree ANTZ see Vaping as Smoking? Do we Agree they CANNOT provide Proof Vaping is Smoking - under current terms?
Then they Must approach this under a different guise.

To Clarify a bit for you and everyone else. I communicate the way I know how. Others may or may not understand my points. Then there are those that will take what they hear/read as they see fit regardless.
I am Never anywhere, at any time, for any reason, without my Mods. Normally a minimum of 3-5 and often as many as 10. I solidly choose to Vape when and where I personally feel okay with it. This is in total disregard as to whether it is indoors or out, however always with regard to respecting others.
My idea of respect comes from my upbringing and has little to do with those around me or the year/time in question. I have my standards and those are not likely to be influanced at this late date.
I cannot be sure a dirty look my way is from an ANTZ or a simple civilian that thinks I'm doing something illegal. I choose not to make assumptions.
Occasionally I may put my vape away or I may simply move on. On occasion I choose not to Vape. Again that has nothing to do with Vape anywhere with respect or otherwise. I do not feel the need to Vape every minute 24/7.
People please remember this - when the fight stops being a true passion and becomes an obsession, you will drive away the very supporters you need.
People need to learn and be educated........................NOT INDOCTRINATED.
Find a way to work things out and stop assuming you know exactly what everyone means all the time.

I can see your point....I was just going off what he said the situation was. I personally don't see anything wrong with what he described...I think vaping in the checkout line is ridiculous. He called him a disrespectful punk on here but , according to him, he just talked to him about some common courtesies in a polite manner. He said he went and got his device so the kid would know he was a fellow vaper...possibly so he could relate? The op has been steadily torn apart for having the balls to do what he felt was right... Agree or disagree, it doesn't really matter. Why make the situation sound so dramatic? He talked to a kid. I'll bet the kid won't vape in the checkout line again....and not because he was "accosted" but because someone pointed out that it wasn't exactly appropriate.
ok...stretch it as far as you need to. I apparently accosted this guy today by asking him directions. No anger or aggression....but he clearly didn't want to be bothered...so unwanted fits. Some sensitive folks we have here on ECF.
Sorry, but if you come up to me with the idea that "You vaped inside, that makes you a disrespectful punk and I'm going to fix it!" then things aren't going to go well.

I've seen it. I don't say anything. I watch the "non-vapers" as the "public vaper" does his thing. 90% just go on about their business, while some do look either uncomfortable or down-right nasty.
I "stealth vape" in public. Never in front of someone though. I'll be scanning the isles in a store, pull on my eGo and just hold it until there's nothing left to exhale. Seems like no-one notices. I get my hit and no one is offended. As a matter of fact, some have asked me about what I am doing. Once I explain, they start pumping for more info cuz they want to quit analogs too!

The term "Disrespectful punk" is the term the OP decided to use. That shows his attitude, and I don't have any reason to embellish or exaggerate.
I see, so you're using the words he used to rant on a forum and placing them into the actual situation he described. I gotcha. Wow.
