No, have not tried the ekowool, yet. However, I am planning on experimenting with some 3mm loosely woven Germany silica and some cotton yarn.

- Andy

I've been using the 3mm German silica in various rba builds, and it's hand's-down the best silica I've used. (Especially regarding flavor) :)

The e-bay seller stated the following info about the fiber diameter:

The fibers have a diameter of exceeding 6 micron and therefore they are considered as harmless to health.

I ordered a Diver today, and am really looking forward to giving it a whirl... :vapor:

Oh Yeah... BTW, has anyone heard if the Diver will work well in the carto-locking AGR tank?

AGR Tank - Stainless

DV has the V2, which is supposed to have addressed leaking issues. ;) $11.49 for stainless steel, and the carto-lock is a great deal for me if it's compatible. :2cool:

It won't, the AGR tank uses flangeless cartos, and the diver has a machined flange on the base. If you remove that flange, it should work fine, but that requires grinding. It's up to you if that is something you want to do, I personally would rather use a tank that has the flange slot milled in it than potentially damage my diver trying to make it fit in something that it's not designed to work with.

First, are you using the German silica from Vaporbase on ebay?

Second, I trust that will enjoy the Diver, as much as I have. I love using cartotanks and the Diver has definitely elevated the cartotank vaping experience for me.

Damn... :( Thanks for the info! I'll just use my Siam Mods carto tank. ;) I almost sold it off along with my others when I stopped using cartos. Glad I didn't now. :p

I actually had to go out and acquire a couple of new tanks, all of my old ones were given away to friends that were getting into vaping, so when the Diver came out i had exactly zero tanks left to try it in... Here's to paying it forward... lol

Yep, the silica from Vaporbase. In my 2 1/2 years of vaping, I've used many different types of silica, and this is the best so far.

I'll be sure to post my experience with the Diver when it arrives. :)

atty was designed to use nr, i don't see why people are so persistent on not using it, buy another system if you don't want to deal with the nr, imo the top insert aligns the brass pole for ease of insertion into the ceramic cup

Like eratikmind mentioned, it was posted by Atmistique that the Diver doesn't require NR wire. I have no problem working with NR wire, I just wanted to give that build a try.

This paperclip method sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a try next time

Curious to read about your non NR vaping experience with the Diver.

My only reservation, which you may or may not confirm, with simply using only R wire . . . Is that, much more heat may be generated by the R coil assembly, which could potentially lead to flooding. Especially, at juice levels of a 1/2 tank and less.

As an experiment I wrapped one without NR just now. It seems that it produces less vapor than doing it with the NR and it gets incredibly warm incredibly fast. I didn't want to risk damage to the plastic insert in the base so I took it apart and put my known good coil back in. I do believe that is the last time I will be doing that. 2x 2mm silica with 32ga kanthal for a 2Ω coil on an eVic.

Thank you, Serial70, for sharing your experience with the using only the R wire. That gets me a bit closer to my suspicions with regard to excessive heat being generated, which might cause any potential flooding.

No worries, I just don't want to do an extended run as I don't want to damage my Diver... I feel like the heat would in fact lead to more flooding, be it from the heat thinning out the e-juice or from melting wire shaped channels into the plastic insert on the base of the device itself.

Is nickle wire more robust than silver? The silver wire is incredibly easy to break. Also, I just got my Diver today & ready to set it up. Has anyone used it w/a 45mm tank? I have a suitable driptip. TIA!

FogHawg, I use a Nickel Annealed (Ni200) wire for the reason you have noted. It has been working just fine.

As I have 6 or 7 45mm (XL) tanks, I will be using them for the extra juice capacity with an extended DT, when it arrives from Atmistique with 2 additional Divers.
