Well, hi, I guess this is an introduction sort of thing. Poorly, as I'm on vacation and without internet currently so I'm trying to do this with the tapatalk app on my phone and sweet greasy Jesus is it confusing me. I don't understand; guess I'm just stupid, I dunno.
Anyway, I recently (as in, three days ago) came to the realization of how much I spend on cigarettes consistently each month after a friend blessed me with the gift of a free pack of Marlboro Menthol 100s. I ordered her a pizza out of happiness. Clearly, I don't understand the bartering system, either. But in short, I've been smoking at least 16 packs of 100s per month. I have no desire to quit smoking/get off nicotine/blahblah, I just ran into an ad for electronic cigs and knew that was to be my solution. (I've been smoking since I was 14 and seeing that ad reminded me of hearing about ~THE NEW THING OF ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES~ on the news some years back and thinking how awesome that sounded.)

I was going to just straight up go to Walgreens or something and buy the Blu kit two days ago because it seemed the simplest, most-cigarette-sized, fastest to obtain, etc., but then I got paranoid and really started researching e-cigs only to learn that most who go with Blu end up having loads of battery problems. I obviously smoke a good amount seeing as I go through at least one pack of cigs every two days so I knew that battery problems would kill me. After finding this site and reading more reviews, I ended up ordering the Smokeless Image Volt last night (it should arrive at my boyfriend's residence on Tuesday! So excited to get back from my vacation and unpack it!)

I got the second most expensive kit with 78mm sealed automatic batteries (I realize they're longer than 100s would be but I don't mind; I get a pack of Black & Milds every month or so as a special treat anyway so longer won't bother me too much), their newer "mega" charging case (which I haven't been able to find any reviews on, yet? I might make my own review/unboxing video), and the fabulous extras of USB cord, wall charger (why these two things don't come in the kit I got, I have no idea), two packs of carts in various flavors, one pack of blank carts, and a 30ml bottle of one of Smokeless Image's menthol e-liquids. All for just some change over $91 as I found a lovely coupon code ("voltsave" gives you a 16% discount) and chose free shipping.

I'm entirely new to vaping (unless you count the research I've done?) but I'm certainly picking up on the lingo and everything. I keep worrying, though, that I might've ordered a bad brand or something... And I'm still considering buying a Blu kit as a back-up. I dunno. Talk me in/out of it, haha.
So, hi, I'm Francesca.

Hi and welcome to ECF. The Volt is one of the better cig sized units so you did ok in buying one. I wouldn't suggest buying a Blu as a backup because it isn't compatible with the Volt. If you want a backup I'd suggest you find another KR808 compatible, or just buy an extra battery or two, another charger, and keep plenty of cartomizers on hand.

Welcome to ECF! Glad to have you on board. I started off with the Blu. Did you know that a tobacco company recently bought them out? Anyway, it's true that the Blu's battery life sucked! If you've ordered the Volt, then you've ordered the best cig look alike IMHO. Just wish you'd gotten the manual battery instead of the automatic. If you still want backups, I'd suggest you buy more batteries for the Volt, instead of putting money into the Blu. Do you realize that the Volt is 808 threaded and Blu is 510 threaded? That could be alittle confusing to have something with both types of threading.

I'm really generous and always pay people back for things. One of my friends bought me a coffee drink, once, and refused to let me pay him back in dollars/purchased items, so I painted him, instead xD

Thank ya all so kindly for the greetings. I have indeed read of the threading differences and I really doubt I'll get into ~bigger and better brands~ as the whole purpose of my switch is to save money, but I have been pondering getting more back up Volt batteries, especially in pretty colors, haha. I think my color choices in the kit were classy (both black, one with a blue LED, the other with purple LED) but the more I look at the colors, the more I just want to buy five thousand of them. Artfagproblemz.
What's the difference between the automatic and the manual (besides the obvious button-pushing thing), exactly?

Aside from the button pushing thing, some auto batteries can get juice in them since they need airflow to activate the internal switch. To put it simple, they're easy to break. Though there may have been lots of changes from when I was using auto batteries in my first kit and now. Once I got a manual battery, I never looked back.

I've been trying to contain my excitement about getting my kit to just sharing with my man and one of my besties who has that, "Yeah, sure, whatever, just keep lookin pretty and it'll all be okay" attitude. Haha.

Oh, other random question: Since I can kinda draw a connection between the two, with some of the flavors (e.g., grape, which happens to be included in one of the variety pack carts I got), could one say it tastes/feels similar to smoking hookah? This is probably more of a Volt-specific question...

HI Francesca and Welcome and Congrats on your vaping decision !!

Hope you LOVE your Volts & Yes I do believe that their auto's are upgraded compared to other 808's to combat leaking issues ....just get in the habit of ONLY filling your carto's,while OFF battery & ALWAYS ALWAYS wipe off your connections B-4 putting carto back on battery ....& you should be fine !

I've got a tendency to say weird things, haha; glad ya liked that phrase, though, my family hates it but they're pretty Catholic xD
17 year olds love me, for some reason. On that note, I drew me and my 17-year-old friend being creepy just a few hours ago. Hurrhurr.

I'm paranoid and obsessive compulsive so there's really no way I'd ever consider filling a carto while attached to the battery. I understand laziness but yeesh, that just sounds like an awful idea even to someone who has no vaping experience.

Hmm, I may have to invest in a manual battery, then... Definitely will if I have any issues with the ones I ordered. I think Smokeless Image has done quite a bit of updates on their products, recently, though...

Welcome, Brittlebrittlemoon!

The Volt auto batteries are now sealed (though should still take care not to get liquid on them), and I believe SI was the first company to introduce the sealed autos. The manuals are nice as well, I have both.

The mega v2 pcc is a good one. Can get about 4 charges of a 65mm battery out of one before recharging the case. About 3 for the 78mm batteries. The lid seems flimsy, but I've been packing mine about for a while now without any problems.

I started using the Volt batteries when SI was recommended to me by someone when I whined that I really wanted a nice red battery. I have that nice red battery now, 65mm, 78mm, auto and manual. I also have all the colors, now. And, a couple (or so) of the X2's. Damn, they're coming out with colors in the X2's, now, too...

I like the bling, I have lots of colored end caps and diamond caps. Recently purchased some stealth caps (theatre vaping).

I like my Volts and Volt X2's, I don't foresee myself jumping to bigger and fancier in the near future.

My new favorite picture (of my "portable" setup - it is by no means all inclusive):

yes, I'm a hoarder of bling

By the way, if you made your Volt purchase on Saturday, June 30, I think you should call SI customer support and see if you can't change that coupon code from the affiliate code to the one day only code of HAPPYBIRTHDAYIMAGINE - for an additional 14% off... not guaranteed they will do it, but hey.

Oh sodomizing Satan, that bling hoard is beautiful. It's really nice to see their battery colors besides just in the shir pictures on their site. I'm really diggin' the blues and that gold, ah. I do like them to look more cig-like but colors are just so nice... I wish they had different cart colors/readily offered mre than just black cartos. I'd have a sky blue battery/orange cart e-cig like that.

And thank ya c: That drawing isn't too impressive though, I did it in 20 minutes on a plane. And yet, the combined power of our 16 chins is so majestic in that doodle...

Welcome, Francesca! Oh man, that was an epic first post. I'm really excited for you, as four months ago I was waiting for my first e-cig to arrive. My wife and I both made the switch using the same SI Volt started kits. You got the best cigarette lookalikes on the market, in my opinion. You have barely begun your journey, and you are off to a great start.

I love your drawing, and am excited to see what you think of your kit!

And to calling customer support, I am not a fan of confrontation though I did technically order it on the 30th. I'd probably go for it if my phone speakers weren't broken xD Maybe I'll email them...

This isn't confrontation. SI is well known for their extremely good - and accommodating - customer service.

Oh, the flash on my camera really brightened up the purple (looks like their raspberry in the picture), the darker blue which really is more the color of the shadow on it, and the gold which is actually their copper (looks antique gold to me).

Wooh! Thankya thankya! I get really off topic/distracted so it became an epic tale of madness instead of a normal post. Which I probably couldn't create even if I tried. Wateva wateva i do wat i wawnt.

I'm further excited, now! I wish I could get my manperson to switch, too, but he's tried a friend's e-cig before and it just made him sick. Despite his smoking a pack and a half a day also destroying his health. Maybe I can convince him to try my Voltbaby, hm hm hmmm. Any suggestions in the convincing department that don't involve me nakedly sticking an e-cig between my legs? Because that is the only place my mind is going with this.
