Now I posed earlier about how excited I was to get my first rebuildable ( smok RSST ) Unfortunately , the cotton wicks suck and give me lots of dry hits . If i was going to get a rebuildable I should have spent the extra to get a better wicking system .

Now from what I've read the wick hole is 3.4 mm in the smok RSST,

NOW ... with this being the case . I don't know much about this , and I would much appreciate a list of what I should buy to get the best vape I can get .

The difference between the SS cable opposed to mesh ,is I'm assuming it is what it is.. a SS cable . How this would wick ? I have no idea .
As for the mesh , I know this SS, but actual mesh rolled up into the appropriate circumferance to fit into the wick hole.
As for the Ekowool , this is a silica wick (right) but hollow , as to be wrapped around the SS Wick/ Cable .

Any links or input or as to why this is ? I'm guessing If i get a 2mm SS cable , wrapped by a 1mm EKowool , that should be exactly what I need ? Not that I mind tipping , but I'd prefer to have tipping not be a necessity . Opinions on Using just regular 3mm silica wick would be appreciated as well ( But I'm looking for a little more bang for my buck) . I'm looking for overall good vape production , no dry hits , and good flavor. Also , could Ekowool just be used as a wick on it's own , and if so , why so much talk about wrapping it around ss Mesh or cable ?

Basically.. I'm clueless lol . Instead of educating through youtube videos and monotonous googling ( Which I don't mind , but I'm getting burnt out of it lately ) If anyone could tell me what to purcahse and from where and why (Maybe from the same vendor as opposed to having to order 4-5 things from different websites) I know it'd be a pain , Please no pressure to go out of your way to enlighten me about all this ) Looking to change from 32 awg to maybe 30 Awg as well to go down to 1.8 ohms rather than the 2.6-2.8 sometimes 3 ohms I've been getting) I have been using kanthol , and Don't know what difference Ribbon kanthol would give me , or vapowire , or whatever the other "nickel" stuff is . I'd love to have enough $$ at the moment to play around with mulitple setups but this won't be feasible for a few more weeks until I start my new job.

The learning curve from anything after a vamo with a kanger seems to dramatically steepen due to how subjective the opinions of personal experiences are and the vast amount of customizable pieces after breaking away from stock heads to wick systems and rebuildables . Much love -rob

IMO you cant beat mesh for genys. Ive tried cable 3 types of ceramic, eco wool, silica, cotton. A properly made mesh wick will produse lots of vapor and flavor. IMG_1269[1].jpg

Thankyou so much for the quick replies brothers !

Buzz love - When you say mesh , I'm assuming , or assuming that when mesh is ever being referred to , that would be SS ? And unlike Mavric you prefer just the mesh as opposed to wrapping it around a SS rope ? Any website you'd reccomend and what kind ? I checked a few but the parameters / measurements used are very confusing to me at this point , as well as what "size" Mesh ? ( I read 400/500 tend to be the norms ? Is this the equivalent of... "thread count " for fabric , for lack of a better comparison ?

Mavric - 3/32 being a measurement .. 3mm / ??. So you Prefer a SS rope Wrapped with SS mesh. May I ask why . Any site reccomendation would be appreciated also .

Lastly , 30g Kanthol would work fine ? I don't know if I'm ready to delve into any other types such as ribbon or whatever , or other material for coils until I have a solid grasp of wicking materals :p

Again this is a vamo so I'm pretty sure its regulated to not fire below 1.5 ohms or I'd recieve a low ohm . I reading on the display? guessing this is dependant upon how many wraps I'll be using also . I'd love to try a micro coil , correct me if I'm wrong but I couldn't make a microcoil with a lighter could I haha I'd need a torch?

And now another can of worms to open up , difference between nano and a micro coil ? I'll worry about that later I suppose

3/32 as in 3/32", or 2.4mm-ish.

I wrap mine with a 2mm hollow ekowool sleeve around the SS rope. For me, mesh adds a bit of a metallic flavor to my vape no matter how much I oxidize the wick. It's subtle, but it's there. Also, with ekowool I don't usually have the hassle of dealing with hotspots.

As far as wire guage, use what makes sense depending on what resistance you need. I recommend starting with 28g because it's thicker and won't break on you as likely as the thinner ones. If you are trying to stay above 1.5 ohms, 30-32g kanthal is going to be your best bet.

It's expensive but if you are concerned about good wicking you might want to take a look at ReadyXWick (properly kiln treated XC-116). Zen was on a vape TV program and sang it's praises, including saying very positive things about the wicking. You can read a bit about the Ready X Wick on Zen's blog. He will be including a sample with his products very soon.

The Ready X Wick is hollow and can be used with other wicking material such as mesh, cable or cotton inside it but it doesn't seem to be necessary.

I would strongly suggest that you stick with RBA Supplies if you are interested in XC-116 wick as there seems to be improperly treated XC-116 floating around. It is not at all safe to use.
