Everyone gets the free bats but how do you add protection?

A: solder on a circuit protection board shown below (link to how-to guide: http://www.technfun.com/soldercells.shtml)

Why do you add protection?
A: (see Forum FAQ's)

Where do you get the PCB's (protection circuit board) or CPM's (circuit protection modules)
  1. dealextreme ($1.95, free shipping, ETA 3 months, includes flat wire)
  2. All Battery ($1.95, free shipping if you can find the code or $10, ETA 3 days, you have to find flat wire)

and there is the rub...where to find the flat wire, besides lots of 1000 on alibaba.

help mister wizard....

I think I found the answer to this problem - it was suggested to me on Candle Power Forums:

wire the board into the device instead of the battery.
this doesn't avoid the problems with charging them, but if you're confident in your charger, as I am (did a week of research on Candle Power Forums), then this protects any cell you put into it and I'm more concerned about them not vaping down to a point where the cell can't be recharged, or if they charge thru a connector, that it will have over-charge protection.

ps: read a thread about using the mosfet on these boards for a touch switch, but it didn't go anywhere...nice idea to have a single board do everything tho, if it'd work out.

DanKa, TomCatt,

bstedh,
I'll check local shop too, thanks!

i can imagine using these board buried in a mod, but since it needs a connection to both the positive and negative ends of the battery, it doesn't seem easy or clean to put it in the tailpiece.

But, it also made me think a threaded tailpiece may not be optimal, something that clicks into place and allows multiple electrical connections could move the board to the tailpiece
