DIY Caramel apple

My first attempt at DIY.

25 drops of caramel
20 drops of apple
~6ml 100% PG
~3ml 24 mg/ml VG

Came out alright, I guess...not my favourite that's for sure. I'm flying by the seat of my pants here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I still have lots of flavour left to mess around with, but not much nic :( I'm Thinking of trying flavouring pure PG and see how that tastes...maybe I can drop the nic completely?

What was it about the juice you created that you didnt like? Caramel and apple usually play well together , you just need to get the proportions right . Also , which brand /type of flavourings did you use (FA,TPA ,LORANN etc). Was it a sweet or tart apple flavour ? Perhaps a less sweet apple flavour would work better than a sweet one. 2 very sweet liquids might be a bit overpowering together .

For myself , I prefer the Apple to be the dominant flavour , with the Caramel providing a softening effect , and present as a background flavour.

Just off the top of my head , try :

10 Drops Caramel
20 Drops Apple
6ml PG
3ml VG thinned with PGA or Water.

Try this without Nic until you get the taste you are looking for . You can always add a drop or two of either flavour to get the balance that suits you .Make notes on what you add , for future reference.

I'm looking for an AWESOME caramel apple. I guess I'll try yours, Salemgold. But, I don't want it to be a hint that something's going on behind closed doors. I read about people saying that these sweet flavors are too sweet. So far, nothing's been too sweet, and not even coming close to taking a big bite out of a sugary goodness caramel apple. Hint of flavor is for the weak.

My caramel apple flavoring is:

50% TPA apple
25% Lorann Caramel
25% Lorann or TPA English Toffee

Then I make a VG juice with 10% flavor and 12 % distilled water, the rest VG and nic. I have found TPA is more of a red delicious, rather than a tart or candy apple flavor, and so seems a more accurate apple for this. That said, I have also found that TPA apple, which my favorite, is a rather volatile flavor, and is prone to just diminishing over time in a juice. I get about a week or so out of mine before it tastes of all caramel/toffee.

I have also found that to be true and one of the reasons that I like to use FA Apple although I do like the PA apple alot :)

Well Plumber, I made your recipe -vanilla. I only had about half as much caramel as I needed for 10mls, so I substituted a bit of butterscotch. I'm quick steeping it, so I'll test it for enough vapor. Actually, I only used 10% VG. I'm hearing that VG deadens the flavor, so I'm trying for less. That's quite a bit less than I'm used to, so I'll add more if the vapor isn't to my liking.

This is actually a new strategy that I came up with last night. I figured that I should make it with 100% pg, add VG a little at a time until I like it, and record my final numbers. I didn't adhere to that, but 10% to start should be fine. I don't think I'd be satisfied with less than that anyway. If I have to add VG, should I be adding flavor to compensate? I'm not worried about my final nic ratio. The reduction should be minimal, and I start with 24mg, so a little less than that will be fine.

Once I'm OK with what I've got, I should know in a few days how good it is. I'll report back. This is the first I've seen with butterscotch. I like BS, *laugh*, so I'll add it to my flavor order today. If it turns out fantastic, I'll make it this way all the time.

Edit:
I tried it, and the vapor is OK, but could be a touch better. I didn't taste any flavor at all. So, I brushed my teeth, and it tasted a little better. I couldn't discern them, but something is there. I can't really taste any apple though. I used twice as much apple, as each of the other single flavors. ie. 2 apple, 1 caramel 1 sweetener. Or, in my case, .5 caramel .5 butterscotch. Will the apple grow in strength or weaken?

I guess the apple does grow in strength. I can taste a bit of today, a little over 24 hours since mixing. I guess not many are concerned with Caramel Apple these days, it's understandable. The butterscotch substitute probably wasn't the best, but it was all I had. Maybe tomorrow it will taste better. I've gotta get some more flavors here.

Sorry, not ignoring you mgordon. Just been glued to another thread with the little time i have during the week. That work thing getting in the way (people like running water). I don't have any BS  so i can't comment on it. I use mostly VG and it tends to not mix as easy as PG. I warm my finished batches up under hot running water and then give it a good shake it tend to blend better. Yes, the apple will tend to show more after a few days.

Yeah that other thread has been in the spotlight for many. I vaped nothing but Caramel Apple for at least 4 months so do understand why you are trying to perfect your recipe. I personally like it with just caramel and apple in it ( I like the bite from the apple and vanilla or sweetener may smooth it out too much for my liking) so would be no help at all when it comes to adding sweeteners or vanilla to it. Good luck to you :)
