DIY E-juice Question [Long Post, Need Help A.S.A.P.]

Hey ECF!

So I bought some DIY e-juice from a he, as recommended by a few of my friends, i purchased the following,

Bottle of 100% VG 3 Nic. Mix [No peppery flavor on arrival]
Banana Nut Bread by TFA
Vanilla Swirl by TFA
Bavarian Cream by TFA
3 30ml glass bottles with drippers
5 syringes

Experiment 1: Ok, so in my excitement for saving money and my low expectations of, "i just want clouds and mild flavor" i used an online e-juice calculator to make 20ml of e-juice. So it told me to do 17ml of the VG 3 Nic. Mix and 3ml of Flavoring [Vanilla Swirl] which equals to 15%.

After making it i left the top off for 1 night, shook it in the morning and placed it back in my closet [room temp + dark] I did this for 4 days.

Testing Phase: I put about 2 dripper fills in a clean empty TCT SMOK Tank with the 0.15 Nic Coil [no burnt flavor it just tasted a little chemical'ish and literally 2-3 hits after I started seeing stars [literally those light sparks all around] i couldn't get hardly any vapor production and the throat hit and my lungs felt painful and i was coughing like crazy and this morning i was coughing up phlegm that reminded me of when i use to smoke 2 years ago.

Oh almost forgot to mention my stomach was killing me afterwards!

Experience 1: BAD, but i'm not giving up! I just need help obviously!

The First thing you need to do whenever you buy New Nicotine Base is to Vape a Small amount of it (diluted down to a Vapable mg/ml level if necessary) to make sure it is OK.

If it is, and a Mix does work right, you can at least rule out the Nicotine Base.

Its premixed 3 Nic. 100% VG from heartlandvapes, so you're saying i should vape the 100% VG premixed 3 Nic. to see if i still get the same symptoms? Maybe i should of let the Nic and VG mix together and shook it more instead of just making a mix right away. Does Nic and VG need time to steep as well?

Shake that nic solution. Warm it up and shake it thoroughly. It sounds like you skimmed separated nic off the top when making your test blend.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking, i'm going to shake it up thoroughly and try a new mix. Out of the supplies i bought what would you guys suggest would be the easiest mix for a 30ml bottle? Vanilla Swirl? Banana Nut Bread? Bavarian Cream? and is the 15% good enough?

Are you saying you Bought 3mg/ml Nicotine base from Heartland Vapes? Or are you saying you Made 3mg/ml from a Higher Nicotine level Nicotine Base?

Ok... Shake Up the Bottle of 3mg/ml you got from Heartland Vapes. Give it a Good 2 minute Shake.

Then put some of the Unflavored 3mg/ml into a Tank and Vape it.

How does it Taste? Any Stars?

what would you guys suggest would be the easiest mix for a 30ml bottle? Vanilla Swirl? Banana Nut Bread? Bavarian Cream? and is the 15% good enough?

I think the main flavor is Banana Nut Bread 10%, hint of the taste of 2-3% Vanilla Swirl and 2-3% Bavarian Cream. What I usually do I add main flavor first and very little of undertone flavor. I taste it and add a little bit more undertone flavor until I satisfy with the taste.

hi @LevineDelta, as the others said mix/shake the Vg & nic. Vape a little to make certain it is ok. 15% is a good starting point, but I wouldn't recommend mixing more than 10 ml to try out a mix. If it turns out bad then all you've wasted is 10 ml. Here is a "recommended flavor percentage" chart for tfa flavors.

Bavarian Cream is 5 to 15%
Vanilla Swirl is 10%

As said in the post above mine, a combo of the 3 flavors might make a decent vape, taste is personal so you'll just have to experiment.

I've had trouble with vanilla swirl and throat hit with this flavor. You might look here for some TFA recipes :

Ok when i get home i'll shake the heck out of the bottle for 2-3 minutes then i'll vape it, if everything is good i'll try out 10ml bottle mixes like suggested and maybe start with the banana nut bread at first around 12% and if its good i'll also try that recipe suggested by Kriengsak!! I'll keep you guys up-to-date!

Last question before i go home is, if i vape the unflavored VG and it gets me seeing stars and still gives me a stomachache does that mean i need to contact Heartlandvapes and let them know i received a bad batch?

If you use the 3mg/ml Unflavored and it makes you see Stars, then Yes, you should Contact the OEM ASAP.

Maybe check and make sure you weren't shipped 100mg nic or see if you ordered stronger nic by mistake.

I'm starting to think that you have gotten a Higher Nicotine level than 3mg/ml by mistake.

I would contact the OEM and include a link to this Thread.

If it is 3mg/ml, and that is what you Normally use, then you should be able to Vape it Straight out of the Bottle.

But here's Deal.

There is No Way to Tell by looking at a Bottle of Nicotine Base how much Nicotine is in it. And it is Entirely Possible that the Wrong Label got placed on the Bottle that you have.

I would Not do Anything to it. And I would Definitely NOT Use it.

Contact the OEM. Tell them what is going on and that you think you Received a Bottle that has a Much Higher Nicotine that it should have.

I'm not sure what they will do because Nicotine Base is Non-Returnable. But Contact them and see what they say.

It does sound like maybe you got 30 mg nic instead of 3!!

Also though - that Vanilla Swirl - that IS, if I recall correctly, a VERY chemical-ly flavoring.
Almost ALL Vanilla's require a LOT of steeping. I could never vape many of them until many weeks later.

But you could make some 10% Banana Nut Bread and vape it right away.
Once you get the nic level checked that is...

If it IS higher Nic, you can get some straight VG, and mix it down to the correct % - and save some more money...

Now you said you shaked the heck out of it and then vaped it. Was that just the base or was that the flavored mixture you made. If your getting that strong hit that's making you choke and getting you light headed from just the base then we know it's not the flavoring. So either.

1. It's not 3mg as advertized

or

2. It needs to be diluted because your getting dry hits and it's the burnt wick that your choking on and it's the actual act of choking that's making you light headed.

So I would pour out a 9ml sample of just the base and add 1 ml of distilled water to that (10%), warm it and shake it really good. Don't flavor it just vape it and see if it's better if not get yourself different NIC from A DIFFERENT vendor. If it's better but your still getting a slight dry hit add 5% more water. Also check your wick and change it if it's burnt.
