Higher cost doesn't necessarily mean better quality.

I highly recommend wizardlabs.us
A LOT of people go to him for their DIY stuff, myself included.

He buys flavors from The flavor apprentice and Lorann in bulk and sells them in small bottles for cheaper than the companies he gets them from sell them.

They are 1.50$ for 8mL...if you use them at 10% that's enough to make 80mL :)

The taste of the flavors varies widely. Some of his flavors I hate and others I love. Your going to hear this ad nauseum on here- Taste is subjective. Experiment and find what works best for you.

Take good notes and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Download the e-juicemeup calculator, it has the cool feature of being able to store your recipes. I make test batches at 5% unless I read otherwise. I found 75% of the flavors I've bought are good in the 4-8% range.
buy some Ethyl Maltol crystals to make your own EM solution, some Sour, and some sweetener. They do wonders for juice.

I've been using Wizard Labs since they have the nic, pg, vg and a whole bunch of flavors. I'm not super picky on taste, IMO but the boysenberry was super perfumey, I thought.

Ethyl Malto is the only sweetener I have used so far and I like it fine. I am really new at DIY but I am quite happy with some of my DIY attempts and will continue to delve into the wonderful world of DIY:) Personally, I have like the 4 tobacco flavors I have tried once I started using the ethyl malto and some caramel in the mix with a touch of tobacco absolute. I have used Marlboro, English, Virginia Fire cured and Asian Ry4.

I generally make 5 ml batches but with the tobaccos, since I liked them, I just made 4 different tobaccos in 15 ml so that I could start experimenting with these "base" flavors and add other ingredients. I tend to like tobacco flavors in general.

I have been making fruit flavors using 10% fruit [50/50 on strawberry/apple, my own mix] and 5% ethyl maltoand have made boysenberry [yuck], strawberries and cream [that is a TFA flavor and not a mix of my own], cantaloupe, apple, kiwi strawberry [TFA flavor not my own mix]

I find them to be quite vapable and like being able to try them alone so that I kind of know what they taste like before giving mixing them in with other types like tobacco, graham cracker, whatever my culinary mind can come up with.

I have been using ethyl malto liquid.

I am very new to DIY but have found it to be very satisfying. I have spent about $100 but have enough product for 12 - 30 ml bottles or $150 plus dollars worth of e juice. Some of these items will be in use for quite some time. Many of the flavors will last me for quite a few DIY sessions and all the blue glass bottles will last indefinitely. Some of the large gauge needles, the syringes and the pipettes and such will be usable for quite a few batches. So, my costs are going down fast.

Considering how much I vape, I think it is money well spent. Oh, and I can mix up 24mg, 18mg or 12 mg as I feel I need it instead of having a bunch of different flavors and strengths bought well in advance since running out of juice sucks.

It's kind of fun and more convenient.

I agree ... Wizardlabs is FANTASTIC for DIY supplies. I get most of my supplies there.

However, for Capella's (I use only Capellas for certain flavors - like Peanut Butter, NY Cheesecake, Marshmallow) I go to highdesertvapes.com. They have the best prices and selection I've found for Capella's flavors.

For a fantastic vanilla, I go to DIYFlavorshack for her Holy Vanilla (great, authentic vanilla ... her Sugar Cream is great, too!). Have to say though ... Wizard's TPA Vanilla Swirl is really good!

If you need bottles, try sunburstbottle.com. They sometimes run specials and you can get bottles very cheap.

Hope that helps ... those are the main suppliers I use. There may be others out there that are less expensive, but if there is ... I "dunno". :)

Merry Christmas and HAVE FUN making your juice! :)

Virginia fire-cured is very good. So is TFA tobacco flavor. I am vaping Captain Black tobacco right now and all I can taste is vanilla. I wish it had more tobacco flavor but it is still good nonetheless. I have some english tobacco flavor I haven't tried yet, it smells like pineapple. What percent do you use it at and how would you gauge the strength of the flavor at that percentage using a scale of 1-10?

I think it is foolish to just throw a bunch of flavorings you haven't played with yet together and expect it to work. I like to do the same thing as you;Test each flavor individually and see how potent it is at different percentages before making mixes.

I was told if I am using a unflavored 36mg nic base that is 50/50 blend to add 1ml flavor to 5ml base.Would you recommend this much virginia flavor or should a do a little less and then add more.Im trying to have a 30mg nic level after adding flavor.I love virginia flavors just want to make sure its not overpowering .

I vape 60/40 with 7% virginia and 2% ethyl maltol. So if I make 5mL I use .35mL
I
wouldn't use more than 10% if I was mixing it at 50/50, which is .5/5mL

It is always easier to add more than to cut it down. Personally I think 20% is way too high, even at 50/50.
Try adding half a mL to start off.

Let me know how it works out for you. :)

You like a high nic level.

One ml with 5 ml would be about 20% which would be a lot of TFA Virginia Firecured - I think.

My mix is nic base using an ejuicemeup calculator ends up at 18mg nicotine 70pg/30vg

4% TFA Virginia Flue Cured
5% Ethyl Malto
5% Caramel
1% Tobacco Absolute

I think this tastes plenty strong:)

Good idea. I'm not liking the french vanilla so far.It was good at first but I got sick of it quick.

I highly recommend getting the lemon flavor. It can be mixed with any fruit to turn it into a fruit-lemonade flavor. I'm finding it to be very versatile like ethyl maltol.

Following this thread closely. Nice to see other people's thoughts on the flavors.

Glad to hear that since I got some vanilla cupcake and the lemon flavor.

Actually think Im going to go with the vanilla cupcake instead of french vanilla .Like the idea of a nice cake vape :)

I just made one tonight with Vanilla Cupcake, Peanut Butter (Capella's), Caramel Candy and some Cotton Candy.
It's steeping right now, but it smells REALLY good (Peanut Butter Caramel Cupcake!). Yum.
(Hope it vapes as good as it smells!) :)
