Have you tried to 'fix' them? Maybe add a little of whatever the top note is in the recipe and see if the sweetness goes down.

Worth a shot I think. I, and many others are always tweaking their recipes. LOL

:)
I have started using them as additives, seems to be working ok.

@dennism , you will never learn more about DIY than by trying to fix a failed mix. I PROMISE! :)

Seriously, I have learned more by fixing failed mixes than I have anyplace else (apart from maybe single flavor testing).

There has only been one mix I didn't try to fix (chocolate milk and IDK why I even TRIED. I don't even like chocolate milk that much, LOL) it was vomitous. LOL.

But everything else I've been able to fix to my satisfaction and not gonna lie, it's one of the harder things to do but it was worth it (for me).

I mean alternately proceed as planned, but just using them as additives well, I'm sure it can be good but you are missing out on 99% of the benefits of DIY where you add all the ingredients.

Try to fix ONE, just one and see what happens. You may be shocked, plus I (personally) enjoy fixing mah errorz. Mostly.

I mean if you really don't want to, don't and if you are using the ACTUAL MIXES as additives, well yeah, you'd still get some cost savings that way. If you are using the one shots themselves to add a drop or two to ready made mixes, that's different.

If it's the former and you are liking the results, well forget everything I said, I am in errorz land, etc. LOL.

one basic cream flavor be enough
IMO no, one is not enough. That being said if I could only keep one it would be Hangsen cream, nice mouthfeel and not too sweet, think half and half. I find pairing FA fresh cream + FA vienna cream the most useful. TFA/Fa vanilla swirl is a must have in my stash as well. If you want a sweeter cream Cap sweet cream and WF tahitian vanilla cream are both good.

Thank You! I'm mostly looking for a cream that would work well in a pina colada recipe.

I doubt I'll pick up the FLV, they are hit or miss extremes for me. I'm happy with the cheaper creams I have.
Tell me about the cheaper creams, I'm a novice when it comes to creams, haven't ordered a cream flavor yet. The closest I have is vanilla custard v1 cap.

I don't like the mouthfeel custard leaves behind so none I mentioned are that thick. The WF tahitian has some marshmallow in it I believe. The mouthfeel is a dead ringer for it but tastes creamier and the vanilla doesn't overwhelm. Vienna has a nice smooth mouthfeel and has no spice notes, just a lovely thicker cream, slightly sweet. Fresh cream is exactly that, a slightly thinner cream like half and half. Cap is too sweet for me but my cousin loves it in the coffee mix so I keep it for her. It is a popular cream tho. Hangsen is just a plain cream, nice mouthfeel, very slightly sweet. Vanilla swirl tastes and feels just like vanilla soft serve ice cream and excellent for creamsicle recipes. If I get a mix too thick I can add vanilla swirl to make it right, also gives fruits a little boost and smooths sharp notes. Actually they all do that.

I use the flavor stash on ELR. I'm good about adding new flavors but usually forget to delete the ones I purge.
Me too I love that flavor stash on ELR I just recently started DIY and I love it but just like someone said as soon as I see it interesting recipe I'm missing half the flavors I got about a hundred and twenty flavors all ranging in flavor West capella in TFA and inwera wish I had a mixing buddy a friend that also did DIY as a lot of my friends thinks who am I kidding I don't have any friends after becoming a dad and a husband I don't have anymore friends I'm sorry I'm going off on a rant now but really I wish I had some people that I could do DIY with and not just on the computer

I reorganized my stash so at least I know what I don't have. Did break my 200 flavors limit during this last round of sales but have some I know I won't reorder so I'll be back down to 200 in about a year or so.

I am getting pretty good at adapting recipes and use another's recipe more as a guide, I don't copy them in my mix.

Yeah I'd have to say I pretty much do the same thing when I first started I did copy recipes just to pretty much get to know what I'm doing now I have to make them better but I still have a lot to learn

I know I have flavors I'll never use, probably. I think that's the case for everyone. Like "Joy". I will never use it again.

Subbing yeah it works etc. I mean, I don't use much vanilla so I'm always subbing. But, I can pretty much guarantee that some of my flavors will decay before I even try them, probably. LOL.

Anna
Put them to use find something you can use them in get creative think out of the box you never know you might make something tasty

I Think you are always learning with diy; you need at least ten lifetimes to taste all the potentially amazing combos available to us.
