Hi there! Ok so I am new to ECF and somewhat to vaping in general but i've been doing some research and it would be VERY much appreciated if anyone could help me out. Pretty much i've been vaping for around 3 weeks now. Started out with a cheap Tececig, didn't like how short the battery life was nor the vapor amount. Was still able to stay away from cigs though, was smoking about 25 cigs a day. Now I have a KGO 1100mah 3.7v and I am EXTREMELY happy with it's performance and I would somewhat consider myself a vape addict now lol. Wrapping up my story.. I'm wanting to get into DIY e juice mixing. I like the control factor over everything and the cheap expense to do it. Really I have some ideas and I'd like to know if I have the basic concept down.

Here's what I'd like to start with:

100% VG base with 48mg nictotine
Pure Cigar flavoring
Pure Strawberry flavoring
Water

I want to stay away from PG bases, I think I might have some type of allergy to it. I've been waking up with a very sore throat and I've been having pretty bad nasal congestion. Not sure if it's the PG or if i've just come down with something. But anyways my perfect mix would be a liquid that will litterally have no throat hit at all. I'm wanting to get some SMOKTECH 1.7 ohm XL cartos for my KGO with a drip tip so the juice doesn't go in my mouth as much. I hope for a somewhat warm vape but like I said no TH and I want EXTREME flavor. I would like it to be so strong that it's as if i'm eating it lol. I want the flavor to stay with me for a bit like a cig would after smoking it. Along with the rest of the ''i wants'' I would like for it to be a thin enough liquid to wick very well so that I can take a rip whenever I want, one after another if I shall, but yet I don't want it to be so thin that it leaks or comes into my mouth easily. My thoughts to start out with was to use 10ml bottles and syringes to do my mixing. If my math is right, please tell me if not, if I wanted to run a juice with 18mg nicotine I should fill the 10ml bottle with about 3.7-3.8ml of my VG 48mg base. Then from there I was thinking about starting off with about 3% cigar flavoring (hope for a very slight taste of cigar) and 17% strawberry flavoring (for extreme taste). So like I said, if my math is right, it'd be about 0.6ml of cigar flavoring and 1.4ml of strawberry flavoring. From there I would thin it out with water with the remaining 4.2-4.3ml.

Please, if anyone can help me or has any suggestion from what I have mention, it will be very much appreciated.

Thank You So Much!

-Robert

P.S. The brand of flavors I am wanting to use is LoriAnn (says they're strong) Not too sure on the cigar flavor but I am also wanting to mix up Peach and Grape flavors with the Cigar flavoring.

Here & There
Welcome to the forum. If you want to stay away from PG bases Vaping Zone & ecigexpress have some super concentrated flavorings where you don't have to use crazy high amounts of flavorings to achieve your desired taste. The alcohol based flavorings might help your cartos too since you want such a high VG vape wicking can be a problem. I will let others who vape high VG or all VG further direct you as I'm a high PG vaper. Capella's also has a very good Sweet Strawberry but its in PG.

Robert,

Sounds like you are thinking this through before jumping. Good :)
It also sounds like you can do the math, another good :)
Quick and dirty check is Total mg of nic added (like 3.7 X 48 is 177.6mg of nic)
divided by Total final volume (10ml) gives Final nic strength in mg/ml (17.76mg/ml).
ALWAYS WORKS

Now for your ingredients:
The Loranns Strawberry (I used to use it) has food coloring in it (bad). It tastes fine and is about as strong as other vendor's 'strong' favoring. I personally use TFA Black Cherry and Redbull together.
TFA also offers various Tobacco flavors. I use them, but at 1% or so with about 10% total flavoring.

Your water percentage sounds a little high. I use 5 to 6% water to the total VG in the mix. I use PG/VG but water per the amount of VG. Some people use 10% water per VG. You can always thin a little but it is hard to 'thicken' a mix.
That would be a little less than 1ml water in a 10ml mix.

So, to get a VG mix using a 48mg/ml Nic/VG base will require a little extra VG. It's cheap enough, add some to your order.

Some people (myself included) have found that high flavor percentages actually reduces flavor some. Maybe impacts the way the mix vapes. You could always go a little higher in your strength (target 20mg/ml) a little light with the flavor at first, then bring the flavor up slowly, reducing the strength a little. Once you get to something you like record what you added to get there.

Starting with 48mg/ml and cutting it down is a good choice. It would be difficult to mix up something unsafe. Would always be less than the 48mg/ml. Good sensible approach.

Most vendors are now offering inexpensive glassware. A 10ml graduated cylinder would be a nice addition for small batches.

Good luck, have fun, be safe.

Ha! looks like we are twins OP! I, too have been vaping a little over 3 weeks and am actually originally from wisconsin! I am also getting into DIY. I wanted to mention if you haven't considered that the symptoms you are experiencing could be still a result of not smoking 25 cigs a day anymore. I suppose you will know soon enough after vaping on 100%vg for a while.
I am going to resist the urge to speculate since, as i said, i am new to DIY. I have been ordering through ecigexpress, myself, super fast shipping (next day b/c they are based in WA) and have not had problems so far-- on their super concentrated flavorings though, they are made in china, which gives them a flavor that is characteristic to china-made juices. Hard to explain, some people love it, others dont. But flavorings are pretty cheap so experiment. For next order with them I am getting flavors from all of the different suppliers they carry so I can determine what works best for me. If you are looking for extreme flavor, as was mentioned earlier, more is not necessarily better. Try using a sweetener, vape wizard, or ethyl malto. I wish you well on this journey, and good luck!

Hell yeah I do Rocketman!

You have some great suggestions and I'm very glad that you took the time to be thorough. Thank you for the formula to figure out the nicotine level too. It's alot easier than what I was origionally doing. In fact, that's why I wanted to start off with the 10 ml bottles since it's easier to figure the math lol! If you don't mind me asking, what did you mean by TFA? I realize it's a brand (I think :p) but not too sure.

TFA is The Flavorers Apprentice, which is a division of TPA, The Perfumers Apprentice. Been into DIY myself for a couple of months myself now and loving it, here is a link to blog posts by a member mere, Str8v8por:

Great info here, really helped me out alot. Also check out highdesertecigs.com, great pricing, flavor selection and DIY accesssories. John is very helpful and his turn around time and shipping is super fast. He carries alot of the TPA flavors along with several others.
I agree with Rocketman, a graduated cylinder was one of my best mixing investments!
Good luck and enjoy the ride!

@shotdown,
The 10ml graduated cylinder is really handy for mixes between 5 and 10ml.
48mg/ml is a really good choice as you will end up being able to accurately read the amount of each ingredient, but more importantly the Total Final Volume. Better than guessing with a juice bottle :)
Those that use drops to measure can't get as close. In addition to drop size variation caused by dropper tip sizes, liquid surface tension and viscosity cause variations between 'fast' drops and 'slow drops'. Reading the meniscus takes practice to avoid parallax error. Experiment with lighting and background and dollar store reading glasses.

I cover the top of the cylinder with some stretched saran wrap to mix before putting into a storage bottle then mix some more. Blending VG based e-juice is tough. 'Hot' spots from improper mixing is more likely with VG juice than with PG.

+1 for this tip from Rocketman. I have had flavors that were completely bland until I reduced the amount of flavoring in the mix. Some tobaccos will seem overwhelmingly sweet at too high of a concentration. Start at a lower percentage and add a drop at a time. You will find that some flavorings take an incredibly small amount to make a flavor concentration similar to commercially blended juice.
