I want to start experimenting doing e-liquid myself but when I compared the prices between US and Canadian vendors on the PG/VG base with N, the difference is quite large. If I buy in the US, thee is a chance that shipment will be confiscate if the base contains N by custom. But if I buy at the price from what the Canadian vendor are asking, is it really still worth it?

I get my base from the U.S, Canadian venders most likely get their base offshore, as I'm not aware of a Canadian manufacture for base. There is always a chance CC will seize the order, but most make it through. There is a DYI forum here ECF, you should check it out. Allot of U.S. venders out there, some better than others for shipping to Canada. P.S. Welcome to the forum.

See, nicotine is a restricted substance and vendors take some minor risks bringing it in for you, but you have good assurance you will receive your order. Drawbacks ... they are very expensive, and some refuse to tell you, if they actually tell you the truth, where the nic is from. It's these last 2 points I don't like, as I have no issues with the others.

If I buy from RTS, I know the source of it. Same with others such as Ecigexpress, Extremevaping, etc. These I know contain no rat poisons ... and although that is an extremely unlikely scenario, I won't take chances. American vendors have much higher accountabilities as they are right in the public eye, not hiding with 1 foot out the backdoor with HC about to shut them down. I may be wrong, but that's the way I see it. Nicotine is extremely poisonous, no monkey-do wiggle-room for me. I DIY, I am safe.

Is it worth it,yes and no.Depends like you say Birdieman, on getting the best prices,up against what you pay for ready to vape juice.
My finished cost for 30ml using Canadian nic including shipping and flavor will come out around $8,some people will probably spurt coffee over their keyboards having seen $8 and say they can do it for less than half that, but i'm ok with $8 as i've been spending $16 or more + shipping for 30mls from the pro's.
Have at 'er man, give it go,it's a bit of fun too,you never know, you may just come up with the next Bobas bounty.

I vape DIY unflavoured for a year for around $100 in liquid costs. Add $ 20 for flavors max. which I use for the occasional variety. Stocked for 15 years. Along with that, your freezer is your best friend. But I'll be done with vaping in a year or so too ... getting off all of it in the long run. Started 3 months ago at 24mgs, comfortably down to 6mgs now.

I found that the price of the e-liquid should go parallel with nic content. I found people buying 0 nic is getting rip off as they are paying the same price for someone buying 24mg.

At the same time if CC confiscate the shipment and you have buy it domestically, then instead of twice expensive, now you would be three times as expensive. Guess that's the risk you have to take (US or Can).

Very few shipments actually get CC nabbed and I realize the odd post here someone upset because of a bust doesn't represent an accurate picture at all. Many people have bought nic and juice from the US/China for years and never had any problem. If they nail 10%, I'd venture to guess that's on the high side. I just went through my receipts ... 23 times foreign liquids ordered, 23 times received.

At $10 for 30ml (ready to vape), and with a plethora of choices, I don't think it's worth the effort. I get mine from CanVape, and am deeply satisfied.

Good to see Canadian vendors getting their heads out of their .... it's getting very reasonable, although I don't care to fork over $600 - $800 annually for it.

6 months ago you paid nearly 2x as much. Some still want $10 for a 10ml bottle nowaydays. Anyone wonder why no love is lost?

Just did a rough calculation and it costs me about $5.60 per 30 ml for 18 mg DIY juice. All ingredients sourced in Canada. I vape zero nic which costs me about $3.50. It does save a few bucks a week but for me it's more about the added control. I know what I put in my juice, I mix for my taste buds and the device I'll probably be using it in and while I was lowering nic levels it gave me total control over that. Plus I enjoy the act of doing it. Works for me, but YMMV.

Amazing !!!

I get a 250ml 100-nic base, 2 liters of PG, 1 liter of VG for under $100 and does me for more than a year. Some Hangsen & NF flavors I use sparingly as I don't like heavy flavoring another $50 which last about 2 years.

This is an primo example of the grotesque mark-ups in Canada, and why I won't buy from them.

Per several threads I have read on ECF your average American pays 1/10th that much ---> $5.60 per 30 ml for 18 mg DIY juice

Isn't Darkhood mentioned it's about $0.22 per day and vape all he wants as he is in the States. Anyway at least Ryedan is 50% cheaper than some retail in Canada or may be more on others.

And when I looked at the shipping cost from US, the arrival price is pretty much the same as order from Canadian vendors. Isn't it, Hello World?

I've only bought once in Canada, which was the highest price I paid for nic-base so far. Most of my purchases were half that elsewhere.

Based on Ryedan's calculation in his post, it's substantially more expensive in Canada.

For 120ml. of 48mg/ml PG(clear and clean) it only runs about 24 bucks in Can. If I vape at 24mg, which I do,
I get 240-300ml of juice for 30 or 40 bucks(including plain pg/vg and flavourings).
Lasts me for months.

Is it worth it? I think so. YMMV.

Wouldn't even think of going south of the border, absolutely no reason to.

Finding a source that doesn't charge 10 bucks/30ml. for base took some time but the search was worth it.imo.
