Recommendation is used to try. Then you just tweak it with more or less flavor. so 30-40 is ok as long as you can handle it. I would go up by 5% increments tho.
Also the more flavoring means less vg/pg and nic you can put in. So if you vape high mg nic, then you need to get the higer stuff to cut with.

I would consider using a syringe rather than drops. A thin liquid will have smaller drops. Other things affect drop size too. Your calculated %s may not be as high as you think. Also, too much of a flavor might thin the juice too much. Example, Loranns Cheesecake is in ethanol, and 30% ethanol will not vape well at all. But the TH and the BH (brain hit) will be impressive.
Flavorart coffee espresso is way strong at 4%, I don't even let it steep. A two week steep may make it un_vapable...lol

The carrier for flavoring is often PG so what I do is check the flavors ingredients and if it is PG I count that towards the total amount of PG in the mix. For example if I have a juice that has 10% PG and 20% flavoring my total PG is 30%. Same goes for flavoring with a PGA carrier, I count the flavor as part of the total amount of PGA in the mix.
I don't know if anyone else does it that way but it works for me.
