Hi Fellas,

I am experiencing some weird phenomenon, that my diy liquid gets weaker or flavorless quicker than commercial liquids.
my ratio is either 7030 or 8020. they are well-preserved in dark, cool drawers whereas the commercial liquids are on my desk. my DIY liquids becomes flat after 2-3 weeks, while the commercial ones stay much longer.

is there any thing i should do or add in to the liquid to make the flavor and smell last longer?

Thank you!

It could be either using too much flavor or using too little flavor. There are also some flavors that many consider to fade after some time. Each brand of flavorings is a little different as to how much is needed. I find that TFA/TPA concentrates need a bit higher levels than say Capella. This is also true with what type of flavors you're using, such as fruit flavors can be used in higher levels than many bakery/desserts.

Some people swear by steeping, others prefer the "shake and vape" approach. Im a bit mixed in my approach. Ive got some recipes that I vape within a day or 2 and others that have been steeping for up to 2 months.

What flavors are you using?
Which brands?
What are your percentages?

Hi Darth,

my most used brands are CAP, FA, and TFA. my flavor base is around 20-30%, makes my liquids to 7030-6040. but i store them in plastic bottles. and I do realized that they tend to last much longer in glass bottles. does the material of bottle matter?

IMO, 20-30% is way too high. I use most of my TFA at around 10% and CAPs usually start at around 4-5% unless it's a dessert flavor in which case it's lower still (2-3%). I store my liquids in opaque plastic bottles. I do this because I don't have any suitable glass bottles on hand but I think glass might be preferable.

30% of flavor is a bit high. Can you please post one of your recipes? We really need more information in order to provide accurate information. Percentages, brand and flavor names.
But honestly it sounds like high flavor content is the culprit here.
here is one of the liquid that fades away pretty quickly
1% Coconut INW
12% ripe strawberryTFA
6% double watermelon CAP
5% sweetener TFA
2% white peach FA

this one comes out pretty good after steeping for 5 days, but starting to fade after 1 month.

Are you sure your coils are not clogging. 5% sweetener will do that. Clogged coils reduce flavor and vapor production. 12% on the ripe strawberry may be a tad high. May want to try 5 - 7% and reduce the sweetener to 1%. and the watermellon (Another form of clogging sweetener) to 1% or eliminate it. Or the other choice is to keep cleaning, rebuilding or changing your coils more often.

Hi Danny, thanks for the feedback.
I use RDA to vape, the clogging issue is a new concept to me, so does clogging issue occur on RDA?
But yeah! I will definitely apply your suggestion!

Clogging will occure on any device that uses a coil RDA, RBA stock store bought kanger coils etc.

You can remove the wick, dry burn the crud off the coils then rewick rebuildables so you have that to your advantage.

The main things I see in this particular one is the TFA Strawberry Ripe may be too high, and the sweetener is definitely high. I wouldn't use sweetener any higher than 1%. The TFA Ripe, maybe 8%? It's hard to say because I would literally cut those percentages in half (and omit the sweetener completely) but I know not everyone's tastes buds are like mine... I would definitely lower the sweetener substantially if nothing else.

I have not heard this attributed to CAP's Double Watermelon before... is this a common result (the clogging)? I did a quick google search but didn't find any helpful info. I am always questing for a "better" watermelon but have not experimented much with the DW yet.

Thanks for all you contribute to this community!

I could be completely off base on that one but I was under the impression that most watermelons are mostly flavored EM or sweetener.

Check out this video from Madvapes on dry burning. It's a way of life for consistency in your vape. Clean coils produce great vapor!
