Hi, I'm not entirely new to vaping, but I've decided to try my hand at making my own liquids and have a few questions regarding the mixtures. I just bought 2 large bottles of my liquid base (1 bottle VG & 1 bottle PG) and some pure flavorings from Capella and Flavour Arts (snickerdoodle & ginger ale).

1. Since I wont be adding any nicotine to my liquids, is there anything else I would need in order to make immediately usable liquids?

2. I know that some people add water, vodka, or sweeteners to their mix. What are these used for, are they required, and how do they affect the liquids?

3. What % of VG/PG do I use and why?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information!

I don't add anything to mine other than the PG, VG, flavors and nic. I mix at 80% PG and 20% PG. I use carto tanks, so that gives me a fairly thin liquid that works well with the punched cartos, and still gives me a little vapor production boost from the VG. PG gives more vapor and throat hit, VG make more vapor. Depending on what set-up you're vaping with, you may be able to add more VG and be fine. The VG will just make it wick slower, and if you're a chain vaper like me, you need a thinner juice that can keep up! :)

Depends what flavors you got and how you like them and as far as vg/pg ratio depends what you use as far as tanks cartos or attys.I agree check out DIY thread thats what helped me get started. One helpful tip is start low on flavor % and add more if needed and get a atomizer to test out mixes. You can always up the flavor but its hard to fix it if you put to much :) Good luck !!!

sweetner is well sweetener. water is sometimes used to thin. vodka is used to thin sometimes but alcohol is added many times to add TH

you can mix it up and try it it might be ok but usually flavors need a few days to fully break down, mix and develope.

the ratio is up to you whatever you prefer but a good standard mix is 70pg/30vg.

and most people start around 5% and go up as some flavors can be overpowering. most of my DIY i am right around 10%

Greetings from Canada! Welcome to ECF!

You have what you need. I recommend Distilled Water since tap water may contain chlorine (if it is City) or minerals (if country well). Distilled Water is inexpensive at any Drug Store, usually $1/ Gallon +-. Bottled water is not Distilled Water.

70% PG and 30% VG is a good starting ratio to try. If I use 50/50 I dilute (thin) it with 5% DW, or 100% VG I use 10% DW just to make it thin enough to wick well.

Your flavoring is usually in a PG suspension so this comes out of your PG ratio. <E-juice me up > is a good calculator to use to get the math straight. Since you don't use nic there is not much danger of over doing anything but it is good to keep your recipes in the calculator for future reference.

Relax, Enjoy!

Go here... DIY E-Liquid

PG and VG ratios are very.. individual. You'll find people on this forum who vape anything from 100% PG to 100% VG and all ratios inbetween. Personally I always mix at 50/50 due to high PG juices make my husband's throat sore. You are going to have to play round and find what works well for you.
