Hello All,

I wrote this earlier and now can't seem to find the post, anyway... For those that been mixing for awhile now... Do you men/women when mixing make a base of your PG/VG and nic first, store it, then add your flavors on a recipe that you are familiar with or do you find yourself making it all at once whether a 5ml, 10, 30, etc. Just curious as to the habits of the vets here.

I have 40 10ml bottles that I keep in rotation. As soon as I have 10 empties I'll make a 100ml mix, complete with flavor then, after 10 8 minute cycles in a warm ultrasonic bath I'll put the 10 fresh at the back, as you would with shop stock. On average every bottle I take out has had 5-7 weeks steeping.

And so I mix everything together at once.

Only time I'll break this is when experimenting with new mixes.

Not a vet of e-liquid mixing, but I have experience with lab work. I do not pre-mix base in case I want to alter nic. content or PG/VG ratio. Another thing is to do things the same way every time to eliminate mistakes. Make a foolproof procedure and follow it.

I set up a glass with water to rinse syringes in, one for nic, one for PG and flavor, one for VG. One glass is fine for all of them. I call up my recipe on the computer, and review it first to make sure it is correct and for the amount of liquid I wish to make. I set my nic base, my PG and VG plus flavor to my left. My mixing bottle goes in front of me.

I draw nic first, remove the syringe from the water, wipe with a paper towel, then uncap the nic, draw, put it in the mixing bottle, then syringe goes into the glass, and cap the nic bottle. The used bottle goes to my right. I repeat this process for the PG, the VG then flavors. Bottles are only open for drawing and dispensing liquid, them immediately closed.

Once all is dispensed into the mix bottle, I cap it and label it. I rinse the PG / flavor syringe, then shake the mix and set it away.

The key here is to do things the same way every time; pilots use checklists for example, doctors scrub and use gloves all the time, every time. This avoids mistakes and spills or waste due to improper mixing. Good luck.

Yes. Actually, I order my pg and my vg from WL with 1.2% nic from them. I do not plan to go over the 1.2% nic content and this allows me to change my base ratio from the (my standard) of 50/50. I know that I may be able to save a little money by buying higher concentrated nic solutions and diluting down. It just did not calculate out for me to go that route.

I also know that adding flavoring will reduce the nic percentage - and, that's OK with me.

Yes I do. I read an old thread here where the concern was brought up that high% vg juice could potentially contain pockets of nic concentrate. The theory was that vg, being so thick, would potentially resist totally mixing with the nic without it having enough time to do so, leaving areas in the fluid that haven't been diluted. So if you use, say, 100mg/ml nic in 90-100% vg juice, and you mix a batch up and shake-n-vape, you could potentially drip a drop of full strength concentrate right into your atty.

That's not really a concern of mine considering I vape 50-70% pg and my nic is pg as well. I use Humco vg (from Wallyworld) which comes in 175ml bottles. I have a collection of those I use to make my base in (with proper labeling, so I don't add flavors to straight vg, lol.) I'll mix up about 4-6 bottles at a time of base (pg/vg/nic), let that sit till my other bottles run out, then use it for my small flavored batches. Plus it makes recipes so much easier. I only have to think of % for flavors, not % for nic, pg, and vg as well.

I don't worry so much with what strength I end up at, I make the base at 10mg/ml and if it ends up at 8 that would be ok. I usually never use more that 5% flavoring anyway, so It probly stays close enough to 10 not to matter. I also don't worry about the change in pg/vg ratio either. nowadays I usually stay closer to 70% pg juice just cause I always have more pg on hand, and I like th more than vapor (big clouds are nice though).
