So finally I've ordered a gallon of vg/pg to start making my own eliquids to save money, now the question is I also would like to add 12% nicotine like they sell at my local vape store... im not sure how to mix correctly? So for an example I noticed on wizard labs site we can buy 12mg/ml which im assuming means it contains 12mg of nicotine per ml. that being said, if I wanted to make my own 30ml of ejuice id be mixing 12mg of nictoine multiplied by 30? so 360mg of nicotine?

between here and there
Hello again.

Go here.

DIY E-Liquid
and read. There are a lot of ejuice calculators and recipes there.

And have fun, but always observe the warnings about how to safely handle nicotene.

You need to total the number of ml you want to make and the amount of flavoring also. Most flavor are at 20 pct so in a 30ml bottle 20% would = 6ml for flavoring. If your base is already at 12mg pg/vg then you would need 24ml to fill to the 30ml bottle.

I use 100mg/ml. Its easy for me to do the math this way since I like different levels for different flavors. As the above poster said yes you can add the amount you needed. However most juices dont have 100% pg. Ehich base did you get? Pg or vg? I use pg nicotine base. I also like to make my liquids a 50/50 of pg and vg. So if I use 15% flavoring it would look like this. Oh and I will be making a 30ml bottle.

You NEED to use a calculator. Especially because your guess at how it works is, well, way off.
You CAN'T get 12 mg juice starting with 12 mg nicotine base - because to MAKE your juice, you are diluting the nicotine base with PG, VG, and flavors (which have more PG in them usually).
I highly recommend
a) you read, as suggested, people's questions, answers, and recipes
b) get and play with the EJuiceMeUp calculator -
You put in your starting Nicotine Base (48 mg/ml? 100 mg/ml? In VG or in PG, or in a mixture - whatever you have to start with)
You put in your target PG/VG - whatever you like
You put in your target volume - 30 ml? Try 5 ml first to see if it's good, maybe.
You put in your flavors, and each ones' percentage, following or making up a recipe
The calculator then TELLS you how many mls of each ingredient you need. It takes into account the dilution I described above.
The math, doing it yourself, can get tricky...

eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

Step one: Download this calculator. Step two: Read the DIY Forum and learn the calculator above. Hint: Since you will be diluting your nicotine with both flavor and PG and VG (to achieve a desired ratio), you will be starting with a higher nicotine level juice than where you want to end up at. If you buy 12 mg/ml juice, you can then only end up with less than that by adding flavoring and PG and VG. A good starting point is 36 mg/ml juice to start. Dilute that down to 12 mg/ml juice by adding flavor and PG/VG. Check it out on the calculator above. After studying the calculator carefully for 20 minutes, it clicks, and then all makes sense to you. Good luck.

Man I feel dumb lol. I totally forgot about having a stronger base than your target level. I only use 100mg so it slipped my mind.

No shame in being new to something. Just follow the advice and read the DIY forums, so much info, even a seasoned vaper can feel a bit of a noob (like me when it comes to DIY) I highly recommend e-juice me up calculator mentioned above.

Using 100mg can be dangerous, so please be safe and make sure you follow all the warnings and wear gloves and eye protection, protect your pets, kids and yourself.

Enjoy the vape out of it.

I dunno, "Xmas Tree" might be a good flavor.

Just this morning, I drove past a field, or a school maybe, and got a big whiff of "just cut the grass," and I thought, "I wonder if I could make a juice that tasted the way I-just-mowed-the-lawn smells?

Sweeter and thicker with VG, thinner with more throat hit with PG.

Start with small batches at first. Don't make the mistake I did and mix up a 30ml bottle of something that ended up tasting like sucking on a Christmas tree.

Just add higher pg flavor comes through better, vg tends to mute flavors.
Small batches definately the way to go especially if mixing many flavors together. Such a waste having to throw out bad mixes.

I have made a bunch of bad batches. Some I vaped anyway. And some I have stashed away in case I make a mistake and dont get my supplies in time before I run out.

A little trick I learned a while ago. If you like menthol, you can try adding a bit of it to something you're not crazy about. It can take over the flavor and become quite good. I use menthol crystals mixed in PG.

An Example of how to calculate quantities for a mix
I use a PG base because my mix is PG dominant and it's much easier to work with than VG, especially after being stored in the freezer

SOURCE
Nicotine Base - 100mg/mL in PG
Flavor in PG

TARGET
10mL of 20mg/mL 70%PG 5%flavor

BASE:
(10mL total juice) * (20mg/mL target) = 200mg total nicotine in the mix
(200mg total) / (100mg/mL base) = 2mL base

FLAVOR:
5% of 10mL = 0.05 * 10mL = 0.5 mL flavor

PG:
70% of 10mL = 0.7 * 10mL = 7mL total
(7mL total) - (2mL base) - (0.5mL flavor) = 4.5mL PG

VG:

30% of 10mL = 0.3 * 10mL =3mL VG
