Hey, I'm new here and i've been reading up a lot on E-Cigs. I'm soon to be purchasing a Joye 510.

However I have a question about the nicotine concentrations of e-liquid. I'm looking around and the lowest dose i can find is 18mg/mL. I was wondering if this correlates to the nicotine content of an average cigarette? I currently smoke winfield blue which are 12mg per cigarette and thats enough for me.

What im looking for really, is clarification on the concentration of nicotine in e-liquid and what concentration i should buy?

Thanks in advance,

-- Aleid.

From what I have noticed, everyone is different. The best thing to do is to buy a bunch of different strengths, and experiment.

You are not going to get the same nic hit with an e cig as you do with a cigarette because of all the chemicals cig companies add to increase absorption rates. In addition, I find myself taking random puffs throughout the day on my ecig, just because I don't have to schedule smoke breaks for myself anymore. Totally different experience, but definitely prefer it to smoking.

18 mg/ml can't be comparable to the quantities contained in a regular cigarette either because the absorption dynamics are different but mostly because 18mg/ml is the quantity of nicotine you find in 1 ml. The 12mg declared in the pack is the quantity of nicotine absorbed by the filter of a smoking machine during specific test. It's an hypothetical quantity of nicotine you absorb after smoking a cigarette but a cigarette contains a lot more nicotine, from 12mg to 27 more or less. So don't worry, you'll never be absorbing all those 18mg in a ml, but for my experience much much much less.

I think you're getting your "tar" and your nicotine numbers mixed up. That 12mg number corresponds to the typical tar found in one (fairly light) cigarette, whereas the nicotine figure would probably be something more like 0.8mg. This makes the math (as dealt with in a fair number of postings here) a little more complicated. But there are so many individual differences surrounding our nicotine needs that experimentation is probably more valuable than math anyway. The advice to obtain, if possible, some 0-nicotine "doubler" of the same flavor of the juice you like is wise. It took me a while to hone in on my through-the-day comfort level. I know I like a few drips of 36mg early in the morning, but even 24 for the rest of the day seemed a bit much. By obtaining some 36, some 24 and some 0, I'm able to mix in a couple different ways to have some 18 (which seems to do it for me, although I'm thinking of trying some yet lower).

Happy vaping!

I wonder sometimes how accurate the mixes are that you buy online, especially since some of the same flavors are pale yellow while others are darker and orangish colored. I have what I believe to be Dekang USA Mix that is a definite orange and a USA Mix from another supplier that that is the color of weak beer. The darker one is much more flavorful and creates more vapor. Go figure ...

It makes you wonder what the nic content is, too. How would you test e-liquids that you buy? Are there "litmus" type papers that would do that?

Hi Aleid,

In regards to the Aussie suppliers, it is actually illegal to sell nic juice in Australia. You will find that there is several new suppliers who have popped up online, but they sell 0% juice. One idea would be to get some high-nic juice elsewhere & use the 0% doublers available in Aus to mix your own.

There are some good US & China suppliers where it's possible to buy quite a good amount of juice for a reasonable shipping cost. Sharing a shipment with a friend or 2 will bring that cost down to similar to locally-bought.

Vaping nic juice does not get as much nic into your body as a ciggy does (I assume some of the nasty chems in analogs help get it into your body more readily)

Also, from everything I have read & personal experience, how many mg you need has a bit more to do with how many analogs you smoke per day, rather than the strength. This can also change through-out the day too.

o4_srt has the best idea- do get a bunch of different strengths. I was a heavy smoker (40 per day) of 16mg. I mostly vape 18, if I have a craving/nico urge, I will switch to 24 or even 30 for a short time. I also use higher strength when having a few drinks. If I'm having a long & enjoyable vaping session, I might sit at 12.

Best of luck!
