After reading a lot of threads regarding TPA's DK tobacco flavoring being difficult to work with (too perfumy/citrusy/flowery/etc.), I got a hold of some and tamed this beast. I wanted to share my recipe with you all and see if it changes your mind about this flavoring.
You'll need:
TPA DK tobacco
PG
VG
VG Nic Base 36mg/ml
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
Dropper (for ACV)
To make a 5ml test batch @ 30pg/70vg 18mg/ml:
DK tobacco @ 5% = 0.25ml
PG @25% = 1.25ml
VG @ 20% = 1ml
VG Nic Base 36mg/ml @ 50% = 2.5ml
ACV @ 3 drops per 5ml
Note: The vinegar is what really makes the DK taste great instead of like I'm chewing on flowers freshly picked from an orchard on a fine Summer's day. It really files down the floral/perfumy notes that most people seem to experience with it. But don't worry, you won't even taste the vinegar in there.
Back to business; After you have made your mix, give the liquid a hot water bath for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the bottle about every 5 minutes. Then, store the bottle in a dark cool place with the cap and dripper out to let it breathe for about 24 hours. Afrer 24 hours are up, you can place the dripper and cap back onto the bottle, and let it steep for a couple more days. Afterwards, you'll taste a pleasantly slightly nutty/slightly sweet flavor that's well balanced.
Well that's my recipe for TPA's DK Tobacco flavoring. Give it a try and be sure to let me know how it turned out for you!
Peace.
EDIT: I find the best time to put the bottle away to breathe is when it's still warm from the hot water bath. I believe it helps to speed up the breathing time a bit.
