One of the main reasons I've hardly touched temperature control has been the huge number of wraps needed for dual coil Ni200 to get sufficient ohms.

That was with the dna 40.

I've just bought a dna 200 device and reading the spec sheet it seems that it's happy for TC builds down to a least 0.05 :w00t:

Am I reading this right? Does this mean we can now build dual coil TC Ni200 with far fewer wraps (safely)?

At full power the DNA200 minimum resistance for temp control is .08 ohm. The "soft limiting" feature allows for lower resistance but limits wattage. As I type this am vaping a 30g, 2.5mm 10/9 wrap dual nickel on a Velocity clone. Hcigar VT200 is reading the coils at .06 ohm and temp is set at 490 and watts at 85. Works like a champ, great flavor and vapor production.

The Wismec RX200 with the Joyetech chip is rated at .05 and it handles that same build just fine. The Hcigar was $130, the RX200 was $50....

edit - VT200 now reading .05, dna200 "refinement" feature at work :)

@Johan55

Got it.

Thanks.

So essentially if the DNA200 will fire it, it's now fine to vape? Is there an actual lower ohms limit for TC coils with the DNA 200?

Yeah, pretty much. People have purposely tried to brick the dna200 and apparently it can't be done. Every chip/board I have had has a lower ohms limit for tc.

For all things DNA200, go here DNA 200 Early Adopters Forum
