That sounds like a good project to put on the shelf for later when your curiosity gets the better of you and you have the Shapeways box working. I guess there would be plenty of screen area available since the VT has such a big screen. Just a little bit of a surround in place to cover the area the dna screen didn't cover up?

Duane
Yep. That would do it.

Maybe when the evic gives up its ghost but by the time we'll have probably a dna 400 with a large capacitor with a 600W boost :D

Anyone having anything funny with their battery meter going on? It's not really a problem, just inconsistent.

See...what had happened was: Because I've been trying to figure out what my battery life actually is like on the Opus, I have the battery meter with the percentage on the screen at all times. It was going down to about 25%, I would lock it and let it sit. I would come back about ten minutes later and the battery would be reading at like 45%, which I thought was awesome, no big deal. Tonight, it did something different. It was at like 25-30% and when I unlocked it after not using it for about five minutes, the battery life was at like 10%. Is this something with the board or the battery? I should also note that the actual battery meter (not the percentage, just the picture of a battery that looks as though it is draining) is fine and it is just the percentage meter that is wonky. I realize I am being nit picky, but when this is the only thing I can gripe about with this mod no matter how hard I try to find something, I would at least like to know if its related to the board.

Also: with Lipos, is it a bad idea to run it down to the point that it has to tell me the battery is "weak" and needs to be charged?

Are you running updated firmware? I'm not for sure it caused exactly the symptoms you described, but their was an issue on some of the earliest versions of the firmware with battery capacity different than the first evolv beta mod. But it was fixed by the July 9 firmware update, it may have been before that.

Like I said I don't know that it was those exact symptoms and I know it was resolved in a firmware update, so if you're on newer firmware that's not the same issue I had seen.

For those not looking at the Evolv forum Brandon said earlier today:

Due to the new board dimensions and input power requirements, many of the vendors are having to totally redesign their mods. Remember, we had 3 generations of dimension-ally identical boards. Opus just happened to have a dual 18650 case that fit a lipo rather nicely, which allowed him to get to market sooner.

I suspect you'll see quite a few production mods hitting the market in the next 2 weeks.

Being "Buddy Buddy" didn't hurt either.

I'm having a hard time keeping myself from opening my Opus. I screwed in an SXK Magma clone on it an may have forced the 510's insulator down a tad, not sure but have a couple of atties that don't connect on this mod only.
Edit: Well the cover slides off after removing the screw. The 510's insulator was not screwed into the 510's body all the way, see picture, I don't believe now that it was pushed inward by the Magma's 510. They used silicone to keep it in place, I used a dab of Super Glue gel.
Looks better than the one Busardo showed, his must have been pre-production.

BTY... success
But just in case it will never see that Magma again.
That glob of stuff on the 510 is theirs..BTW

Vapor Shark said they were going to announce the VS DNA200 at ECC (8/14).

Yes, I updated my Opus when I received it which was after July 9th. I've noticed that the battery percentage meter (which was the "problem") has been behaving a bit better lately, not sure why.

Dwcraig1: Could you please walk me through the watt hours adjustment?

Also, mrkaos where do you buy your coils from?

Connect with escribe, mod tab, watt hour calculator. It will walk you through it. On mine the battery is 1000 mah so that was my input, it's too easy.

Enjoying the device, only with nickel for now to, waiting on my ti to get delivered.
Options are quit "overwelming" with how you can tune it to the build (wich is a good thing).
Gonna be fun to preset all those profiles, very easy to scroll trough menu to, need more dna 200s once there are more choices.

Finished this mod a few days ago, just got around to taking a few pictures. Meet the lego200:

Wiring inside is 12 gauge to the 510, 16 to the battery. The extra XT60 in there is between the dna200 and the 510, since I wanted things to be modular (this being lego and all). The 510 is from fasttech, basically a varitube clone. Battery is a Turnigy nano-tech 1000mah 3S 25~50C. Everything else is lego including the button actuators, chip holder, screen mount. No glue, only a small bit of double sided tape to hold the screen. The only cut into the lego was for the 510 (a hole for the threads, and a recess for the top plate.

The style plates attach onto the side. So far I've made the two seen in the pictures, but I will likely make a few more. And I need to find some mounts in black. The grey ones stand out when the plates are off (they are completely hidden when they are on though).

Been using it at about 50W mostly, 410F - 430F, preheat set to 200W 1sec. Vaping great. Now I just need to keep myself from ordering more dna200's.

Mat the rate evics are dying the oreorders wont even be fulfilled

I just clicked order on an sx mini m class ajd im beginning to thhink maybe that was a bad move and i should just wait for the opus.

Would anyone recommend the m class is still the go to buy over the cirrent dna200 releases. Namesly the opus? Also i wonder how long the opus will take to get back in stock and what production issues may be present.

From orevious reqding the yihi chip seemed more accurate than the dna 40 and handled temo co trol differently but may oreferred it. I wonder id the 200 chip handkes it the same way as the 40
