I downloaded escribe 10 days ago when i received my mod, when i set the tcr to 0.00092, escribe keeps resetting it back to 0.006.
I tried the included SS 316 curve, and had a warmer and better vape by setting my tcr to 0.001.
0.006 (actually 0.0062) is the TCR for Ni200. Are you trying to change the built in Ni200? You have to open a new material and say that one is SS and then enter the TCR. Or use the built in SS one.

I'm not sure when they updated the link in the Evolv store, it is up to date ATM (V1.0.35.2). As of now the latest versions of EScribe are: RECOMMENDED 2015-10-21 V1.0.35.2 • TESTING 2016-02-29 V1.0.42 available Early Firmware - DNA 200 Early Adopters Forum both versions should allow TCRs down to 0.0008.

My wierd resistance problem resurfaced on one of my mods. I recleaned the screws hoping to provide a better ground but no luck. It reads any atty 0.17 higher than it's sibling. I don't know what else to do beside trying to unscrew the Evolv 510 connector, disassemble it, clean and if necessary resolder it.

Any other suggestions? Thx.

Do you lock the ohms? If so why not unlock and let the device "refine" and see if that helps. Just a thought....
No I don't :(

On the sibling, the resistance has been rock solid at 0.31 for the past 4 days. On this one it goes haywire from 0.48 to 0.60 and back.

When I short the 510 connector I get between 0.02 and 0.11

When I short (internally) the board between plus and minus tab I get "shorted" but when I short the plus tab with the screw (ground) next to it, I get 0.02

It feels and smells like it's a ground issue but where??

Sounds like from the board to the 510 ground.

*Edit*
Just re-read the last part. The screw next to the ground is connected to the case? That might be the cause of the unstable resistance. Any way to tighten or re-tap that ground? Can you go straight to the 510?
The ref box uses three screws to connect the board's ground to the chassis. There's no space to put a nut or similar on the 510 connector. It sits flush both on the top and bottom (doesn't protrude).

I'll try to clean the areas with acetone tomorrow and use some silver conductive paste on the taps that press against the box.

this is exactly why i love evolv. sorry for your bad luck but that is what it is, bad luck. i have hundreds, maybe thousands of hours across all my dna200 devices. i have more than i will mention because i have a hoarding issue. anyways, only one failed so far. this is a huge ymmv and i truly believe in luck. in fact i am very superstitious. i was just blessed that all these work. perhaps a few people did not get that blessing. i am terribly sorry for that to happen to anyone. although i am not a huge fan of vs to begin with. my personal luck with those is the rubber coating rubs off all over. so it really depends on higher powers i feel. you may think this is stupid but it is my belief. not to mention in any case evolv cs is 100%. i must say vs cs as well. just send it in. that's all. on the other hand yihi all failed on me. yet many others has superb results with those. i really do feel this is some force at work. explain hoe some people have something last forever and another person get's five in a row doa! well, evolv is my gig. i just look at yihi and it fails. this is certainly strange.

i am about to mess with ss. never did before. if i have any questions i know many of you guys will have the answers for me. thank you for that. i do see many prefer ss to ni. both for health and better flavor. so i am about to try it.

Just checked, i'm running the 1.0.42. Will try again and report back.

My reference mod starting acting up...it was the ground and I had to remove the chip, clean and re-seat. I would like them to have used more coarse threads on the case so I could tighten it more for the ground effect.

I can now confirm escribe accepts TCR values lower than 0.001. What actually happens is when you set your TCR in the "actions" tab and press ok, it is now set. Now, when you disconnect your device then reconnect it and go back and press the "actions" button and then the TCR tab, you will see the tcr going up to 0.006, but if you press cancel, your tcr goes back to whatever you previously set. Dunno if this is how it's supposed to be or if this is a bug in escribe.

I see, I guess that's because EScribe converts it into a simple curve for the device and does not save the single value so the input box always shows the default value. I will post it in the report a bug board on the Evolv forum.

Thank you for reporting this, i've read your post on forumchitchat. You are absolutely right about this being a usability bug, and the proof is that it got me confused to the point i believed values below 0.001 could not be set. Every time i went to check my tcr value after setting it, i thought it was being reset to 0.006, and so i had to set it again and again.

I just solved my issue and hopefully for a long time :)

I cleaned the whole reference box, polished the notches where the board rests one, wiped all tabs with acetone, cleaned the screws, assembled everything back and put the atomizer on. I was expecting something in the 0.31 range (like it's sibling) but got 0.45 instead :(. I fiddled with the atomizer, cleaned the 510 connector carefully with isopropyl alcohol and was rewarded with a stunning 0.68 ohm now!

I was about to throw the towel and send the thing back to Steve when I decided to try one last thing:

I unsoldered the positive wire from the board and with the help of 3 torx drivers and a trainee at work, I managed to unscrew that connector. It was so gunked up in the threads I thought it was glued in (6 months of non stop use). I then disassembled the connector and the positive wire solder joint didn't look very bad but not just perfect (severe OCD on my part). I dissoldered the old wire, grabbed a 1.5mm pure copper stranded wire (around 14 Awg), did a new solder joint, cleaned the connector completely with acetone, cleaned the threads on the mod, assembled everything. Soldered the wire back to the board and tested it.

Voila! 0.31 spot on! It's now holding for over 7 hours without any change :)

Now both siblings read EXACTLY the same and when I short the connector I get the "shorted" message while before I was getting randomly between 0.02 and 0.15!

Happy camper :)

You must have an old version of EScribe.
custom_Tcr_Limits.jpg

And there is a proper curve for 316 included now.

Speaking of a proper curve for SS 316L, i've just tried the DJaquith V4 csv file, and i can confirm it works perfect.
Setting my tcr to 0.00092, i had to set my temperature as high as 550F in order to get a good warm vape. Now with the Jaquith file, i have it set to 420F and getting the best results on SS 316L since i started using it.

So, the 510 was gunked up between the 510 and the body?

Definitely. It looked like jelly. I guess condensation and liquid drops found their way through the 4 holes around the connector to slowly seep into the threads. Still I can't be 100% sure if it was just that, the solder joint or a combination of both.

What I know is that today, after 22h of use (and 5 hour sleep), the resistance still reads 0.31 :)

Regards
Tony
