So all vaping gear will return to it's roots and everything will be disposable when the battery is used up sort of like cig-a-likes?

Not disposable....IMHO, but similar to cellular devices. The chip lifecycle will calm down and you will get a mod that you are happy with for 12 to 24 months.

Duane,
I sure hope it doesn't go the route of cellphones with non replaceable batteries or proprietary battery packs. Designed in end of life.

George....
Yeah...I'm sensitive to the whole idea of end of life/disposable thing at my age. :D

More seriously, I'm hoping things will develop along a different path. Disposable doesn't have to be inevitable. I don't remember the disposable flashlight being the market leader. On the other hand I can see how some manufacturers would like us to use up our vaping gear in a year and have to buy all new.

Was thinking about what was said somewhere here that a 60 watt, 70 watt, 80 watt device would be nice... (don't recall what wattage really was posted)

Kinda cool fact:

Just used software to default the DNA200 to a maximum of 80 watts and a Temperature Limit of 525F. Uploaded those settings and done. Took all of about 30 seconds to make the change....set to my vaping style now....can reset to default later if desired.

That's disposable.
Everything that's not a mech is technically disposable. Hell, all of these buttons were pressing to fire our devices have a lifespan. Also, there are places that replace cell phone batteries. No reason batteries on these can't be replaced.

Well on the first part at my age I can definitely identify with your sensitivity.

Why can't they put a LiPo in and 18650 package? Items I have taken apart with Lipos just look and feel like a lump of clay. Kind of looks like you could put them in any form factor you like which is one of the reason I thought they used them in cellphones (yes I know they also have greater output).

I think you've missed the point some folks are concerned about with the high power non user replaceable power supply. I'd like the Evolv unit that allows me to have only one device and be able to replace my battery if I'm in the forest or at the beach.

I know there's an advantage to the manufacturer if I have to own two units so that one is always working while the other is being recharged but that isn't consumer friendly to this consumer.

Not out of the question for mod manufacturers to give ya replacable battery modules.... heck Hana has one now for the DNA40 (modular design)....

I really think the development cycle will make you desire to swap out prior to a year. In fact, if they can get to a year without me thinking that it was a big jump forward then I would be happy and be actually spending less. I am not actively vaping anything less than three months old and have given away lots of stuff in the six month category currently due to the shear advancement in the market. I would love a year life cycle, two would be great. Soon we will have auto screen orientation, auto wire/metal selection, serialization of atomizers, blue tooth, induction coils, timers, choice of IOS or Android as the base OS, clocks, alarms, gps and you name it as the standard.

Seriously, this tech is still in the stone age...wait till it matures...it will be amazing.

Retird,

Actually I think there are several that are already doing the slip off slip on battery modules. What is the chance they will be priced similar to 18650s? That was a stunt pulled by the cellphone companies when you used to be able to replace their batteries there was no two manufacturers that used the same dimensions. I still have some of those things laying around because every time they came out with a new phone they changed the physical dimensions of the battery.

What ever happened to "Go Green".

Be interesting to see what comes and the price points.... I've used LiPo's for years and they were cost effective.

I don't think the Hanna device is LiPo...it's just a couple of detachable sleds that hold 18650's Right?
I know a user replaceable LiPo pack can be made for vaping. It's been done for cameras and some cell phones /power tools etc.
No doubt it can be done technically but Mooch earlier said he deisgns that sort of thing and said

"Definitely, that's the stuff I design for a living. But, you need a hard case and the protection tech adds to the parts cost for the battery pack. That dooms the thing before it even gets out the door."

I hope he's wrong.

I'm hoping that Evolv will want to be a leader in creating a power supply alternative/standard for their device which would be consumer friendly to those who aren't into disposable or redundent vaping devices.

Hey there retired was curious if we have to use LiPo's or will 2 18650's work up to certain wattage? Id rather have less watts and utilize a flask style mod. thanks
