So I thought it was funny that my battery wasn't dipping at all with my hana dna 40. Picked it up for the first time today and the battery was at half all of a sudden. Vaped for about 10 mins, look down and it back to full! Anyone else seen this happen as well?

Yes. I assume you're running it in TP mode? Basically the way the battery meter works in the DNA 40, is that it "forecasts" the remaining battery life based on wherever the wattage is when you let off the fire button.
So say you have your DNA 40 set to 30 watts in TP mode. When you take a hit, the wattage will be at 30 watts for a little while. Then, as you approach your target temp, the DNA will "throtttle" back the wattage to try and maintain that temp. So when you let off the fire button, even though you have it set for 30 watts, it might be at, say, 6 watts when you release the fire button (because it's throttling back the wattage). The battery meter will then forecast the remaining battery life based on that 6 watts. If the wattage is still at 30 watts when you release the fire button, you will see the battery meter drop.
Or it will go back up if the subsequent hit ends at 6 watts.......make sense? I hope I didn't confuse you!!
Just think of it like this; the DNA 40's wattage is constantly changing to try and keep the atty below a certain temp. So too will the battery meter change based on what the wattage is at when you're vaping it. If it's at 6 watts, then the battery meter will probably be near full. If it's at 30, then it will dwindle much quicker.....hope this helps!!

I won't pretend to know the answer, so maybe one of the other guys can chime in....I only usually run my DNA 40 in temp mode and I am sure that that's how it works in TP mode, but truthfully I am not sure about regular "kanthal" mode.....I feel like the battery drop should be much more linear in that mode, so I don't know why you're seeing what you're seeing. Did you change the wattage at all going from one atty to another? All I can think of is that maybe you decreased the wattage, and that caused the battery meter to go back up.....not sure though.....
I haven't changed anything since i started vaping today. It seems to be staying at the same lvl now. Was almost full when I picked it up. Took a few vapes and noticed it at half. Thought that was weird and kept going. Couple mins later back to full. And now it's back down to half again. It's been staying at half though since I started this thread.

Ok youre right even in regular mode. I turned it up to 25 and after my vape the battery went lower. Took it to 35 same thing, then to 40 and after the vape the battery was at nothing. Then took it down to 8 watts and after the vape battery was almost full.
The chip is basically saying that you have more battery life at lower watts. In order for the chip to run at 40 watts, it needs to run at a higher voltage than the battery itself. It does this by pulling more amps from the battery. There comes a point where the battery voltage will be too low to push that wattage so the chip does the calculations for you letting you know that the 40 watts will last until 3.7 battery volts (example. I don't know the exact numbers.) Then you can lower the wattage to 15 watts and push the battery to it's lowest point at 3.3 volts with a consistant 15 watt vape every time you hit the fire button. The battery meter doesn't reflect the mah left or the voltage, it shows you how long you can get a consistant vape based on the battery limitations.
