@Phone Guy yeah Ti wire does seem to be a little more forgiving. I've been taking ~20% off my nickel temp setting for using titanium and it works well. Using 24g I can stuff a heck of a lot more cotton in without the coil deforming too. That gauge is rock solid! lol
5 wraps @ 3mm gets me around 0.20 ohms on a Squape.
Where did you get 24g grade 1 titanium wire? I ordered from the ring Lord, got 30g & 32g which is all they had in grade 1. Not impressed with the way it comes either, wrapped wire on a cut piece of cardboard from a used shipping box :(

I doubt I'll order from them again.
Those were the only grade 1 sizes, other sizes were grade 5.

Yes my wire came from Stealth Vapes and I remember it said all spools come with magnets unless requested otherwise. They might work well for some but I seem to waste more with them when it hangs up. I'm ordering without next time. Need to get some 28g too soon. Wish Temco or someone stateside would carry this. Ugh???

Well they're just snagging my wire and kinking it. Next time no magnets for me.

these magnetic spools come from Stealth Vapes? I need to reorder soon, running out of 28ga, will keep an eye to see if I can order without magnets then, thanks for the heads up!

As far as I know, you don't pay more for having them. Why not try them out? If you don't like to use them, just take them off? I really don't see an issue here. It's nothing more than a little square that sticks to the roll?

I whish my titanium spools came with magnets [emoji14]

The magnets must be new? I ordered a bunch of tempered wire a while ago so won't be needing any anytime soon :( I want magnets now though. I might need to order more wire because I like the idea of the magnets.

@Phone Guy - nothing wrong with crazy. I like crazy. Tempered wire helped me so much. And keeping my coils small helps too. That's why I like tempered 30ga so much. 7 spaced wraps hits my sweet spot every time now. But it took me time to get there. Lots of time and lots of crazy. It took me more than a couple of weeks to find my sweet spot. But I also struggled in the beginning with Kanthal too. It was a different struggle but a struggle none the less.

Keep up the crazy, man!

Ok.. Here's a couple of updates (I'm forgetting where which threads I'm asking questions in and where to post certain Responses... So don't worry crazy is all I got right now) [emoji14]

I ordered some Ti wire from the ring Lord and it came wrapped on used shipping box cardboard, wrapped in saran wrap. Very unprofessional.

No spool, is this how you guys got it from them? This to me is ridiculous. I think when I need more Ti wire I'll order from a better supplier. The used box thing really struck me the wrong way, if I sold unused wire here in the classifieds, I'd get flamed for wrapping it on USED shipping box cut outs. Let alone a real company.

Anyway, I tested today with a 0.11 nickel build of 28g 8 wraps on 2.5mm in my squape Reloaded, not 100% sure where the ohms really are since my stand alone meter reads it as 0.06, the sx mini reads it at 0.086 and my dna40 reads it as 0.11....

Anyway, set for 400f to 550f first on the dna40 at 30w... Tried to remember the flavor and more importantly the heat from the dna40. Then let it cool down, put it on the sx mini sync the resistance, fired at 30j again 400f to 550f and honestly felt they were exactly the same. Maybe this coil is better than the last time? The 2.5mm easily fit inside the coil hole in the deck of the squape, no wires were touching anything except the posts so no touching Coils and no grounding on the deck. And I wicked it with less cotton than I would have normally in order to NOT disturb the Coils at all.

The vape was good, but the comparison from dna40 to sxm seemed to be pretty darn spot on to me, at least today it did.

So, I guess what this is probably telling me is I need to improve my nickel coil making skills and wicking method. I think (think) what's happening is while threading the cotton I'm accidentally causing the Coils to compress and touch under the cotton where I can't see it. At least that's what I'm telling myself today anyway.

Dude, I ordered some nickel from a vendor that came wrapped around business cards and I thought that was bad. You got me beat.... Lol Needless to say I never ordered from them again.

Have you got your tempered nickel yet? I've never used Ti wire so I can't really comment on that but it sounds like your getting close. And that's a win for sure!

I say start off small with your builds, get them working for you. In the beginning I found 28ga to be difficult to work with because of the number of wraps I needed to stay above .10. Fewer wraps for me made it much easier to manage my coils and find my mistakes.

What I'm really liking right now is 9 wraps of 29ga. Keep at it and if you have luck with the Ti wire, I might really need to try it.

How does Ti compare to tempered nickel? I think from what I've read it's as firm if not more so? I'm really curious now and anxious to try it. Sounds like it holds it shape really well.

I'm going to get me some ordered and maybe start experimenting with some different atty's while I'm at it. Try something other than my always goto SqR.

Nice guys.... Thanks!

So I've got a few spaced nickel coils under my belt now, but still running into some problems. Before when I took one apart, the nickel was black in places and the wick had usually gotten at least a little singed. The last couple I've taken apart the nickel still looks pretty fresh, and the wick isn't singed at all.

By problems, I mainly mean the temperature control is kicking in before I get the TH I'm looking for.

I'm thinking at this point that I'm doing well with the coil, but somehow not wicking appropriately?

Maybe you said in an earlier post but what temp are you set at? Plus, what wattage are you pushing and what's your build.

Not knowing any of that I would say up your temp some - get it to where you like it. Nothing wrong with bumping your temp up some. I don't think I would push it past 500, but not knowing what your currently at makes it a little hard to say.

And I honestly don't know why you couldn't take it above 500. I just never have. But hell, it goes up to 600 so why not, right? There's got to be a reason behind that number? Anybody know what it is?

I thought you're supposed to drop the temp by at least 100F (could be more) compared to what you would run on nickel wire, because it's properties are different.

Anyone else whose used Ti want to chime in?

400-500F while using Ti seems way high to me, based off of everything I've read about using Ti wire on these TC devices.
