Do Analogs taste lousy after vaping for a while?

Heh...not to worry. Believe me, I don't intend to find out.
I'm happy to report that today marks my 3rd full week without a single analog. (Since the very first day my e-cig came in the mail).
I still continue to be amazed this worked for me after smoking for many years and trying everything you could possibly imagine to quit, all to no avail. That is, until I found this thing that I can only describe as a miracle....my e-cig!

However, I just can't help but wonder at this point what an analog tastes like now. There is NO WAY I'm going to take the chance and try one, but I'm sure some of you have. Either because it was an emergency of some sort and your e-cig just wasn't available, or you gave up on them for a while, or whatever the reason.
On another note, it's unbelievable how that old habit of analogs stays with you mentally, even if you're very happy with your ecig. Especially times like in the morning with my first coffee, or after a big meal. I'm still automatically thinking for a breif moment: "Time to go outside for a smoke".
In the later years, I never smoked in the house. There could be a hurricane with torrential rain and 120MPH winds, but that couldn't stop me from running outside for a Cigarette.
But after that very brief moment of thinking I have to head outside like I did for so many years, it hits me: "Wait a minute, I don't smoke anymore!" So I take a few hits off of my e-cig, and all is well. :)

Still, there is this urge now, to see what an analog tastes like after 3 weeks of not having one. (I hope this will pass, and I'm sure it will). It's almost like I want to try one so I can re-enforce and confirm once and for all: Wow! This really tastes like crap, now I REALLY know I'll never go back to them!
Like I said, I absolutely refuse to take the chance, but for those of you who have, what was your first thought after puffing on an analog again?
Like me, I'm sure you'll hate to admit it if you have "relapsed", but I'm very curious to know what your experience was if you have.

Congrats on making the switch!

It took a long time for analogs to taste awful to me. I took the no pressure approach when I first started vaping. I'd try to vape often but if the urge to smoke was huge I'd just do it guilt free. That works for some but not for others. Back then I looked at smoking as kind of a treat.

Now you couldn't get me to smoke if you tried. Somewhere in the transition something changed. I hadn't smoked for ages and then tested it recently. I got the worst headache and ended up getting sick. If you can stay away from them I'd guess that would happen sooner for you than it did for me and would be the best way to go.

Good luck on your journey!

Your post is exactly what I went thru three months ago. I stopped smoking the day I got my kit on Jult 12th. The idea and habit of smoking was constantly present. I would vape and then the craving went away. I did cheat three times during the first month and had a cig. It was just ok so I didn't buy a pack. Now I am three months into vaping and the urge for a cig is gone. I was playing golf with a smoker buddy a few weeks ago. I grabbed one of his smokes but I couldn't finish it. Then I had that nasty taste in my mouth and throat for about an hour afterwards and it sucked.

So don't worry about it bud, the cravings will go away. Your brain just needs time to reprogram.

Good luck....

Oh, whats worse... I am now 7.5 months in smoke free. One of my friends is still a smoker. He came over to my house for the first time since I have been vaping. 2 minutes into him smoking a cigarette I had to make him go outside. The SMELL was making me sick! That's the first time that's happened since I started vaping, but now I find that I can't stand cigarette smoke at all.

Thanks for the reinforcement guys. Yeah, I fully expect there to be many different types of responses. But so far I'm really glad to hear that the success rate is very high using e-cigs compared to any other method. (And I don't mean just from this thread, but other areas of this forum as well as different studies and articles I've read).

welcome to the clean air club :) been cig free for a good 2-3 weeks now myself, and I also get a craving, but it seems to be just a nic. craving, because after I take a couple of good 18mg hits the craving goes away.

If you like fluffy clouds, you should quit reading my post right now!

The thing is, e-cigs are not really an effective way to quit all together, since you will still crave nicotine. And I bet it makes it even more difficult than any other form of quit-aid, because it's so damn enjoyable, and practically guilt free. SO you are substituting one addiction for another....much better one mind you but still an addiction. And since it's a bit more difficult to keep track of how much nicotine you intake while vaping on a daily basis, you need to be careful not to exceed the nicotine amount you used to smoke in tobacco in the first place. Don't forget that nicotine DOES have its adverse effects on your brain as well as constricting the blood vessels, which can be an issue for some people who are having issues on that department to begin with.

Just a caution, if you are using this as a means of completely getting rid of addiction.

I stopped smoking the day after I got my first 510 a fair while ago now (9 - 10 months ago maybe?). I just gave up smoking. I didn't want to, I had to, and at 23, now 24 that's pretty bad going if you know you have to stop smoking. I started rolling my own pretty quickly when I smoked and really preferred the taste of rolling tobacco; so I thought.

Tonight I went out with my other half and he still had a pouch of my brand I sent him because they don't have it in the USA and rolled one up just to see because we're both vapers now and really liked this brand. I nearly threw up when I took a drag off it. It tasted nothing like I remembered, at all, whatsoever. Licking a wet ashtray might have been a better tasting experience. It surprised me as I was smoking it because it was "better tasting" than prerolled floor sweeping fire resistant chemical paper'd cigarettes. If I can't enjoy what I thought I'd be tempted by 9 months later because I truly liked the taste of it, then odds are you'd find the exact same thing; vaping is by far better than smoking and having that one "just to see" truly makes that statement. I don't feel like I "fell off the wagon" one bit. I didn't have it because I needed it or wanted it, I wanted confirmation that I am now a vaper and I sure got it.

It took many years of my life to work out that I had to stop smoking, but it only took three drags on a hand rolled cigarette of my favourite brand to work out exactly why. Never again, thank you ecigs and ecf.

Oh yeah, I very aware of that, xiotaki. And even a little concerned about it. But I'm so damn happy to be off analogs for the first time since I can remember, that I'm just savoring the moment right now.
I do plan eventually to cut down on my Nic levels (I was a 2 pack or more a day smoker of analogs, and I'm using 24MG juice right now which seems to do the trick quite nicely).
I realize inhaling anything into your lungs can't be as good as nothing but pure air, but I'm honestly enjoying this so much that I can actually see myself down the road continuing even with no Nic content at all....I mean, I've got to have some kind of habit. After all, that's the way I've lived pretty much my whole life. :D

well, you're on the right track! I was a 2pack a day myself, and I started at 24mg, but I found out that my obsessive habbit couldn't handle 24mg's so I quickly dropped to 20mg...well 2 week in, I am now down at 18mg, and I might be vaping slightly more, but atleast it's a little more guilt free. And yes I think you're right on the money when you say that you would continue vaping even at 0mg. This seems like a realistic and an eventual goal for me as well. After all, I don't even drink, so quiting nicotine as well will probably make me the most straight flier in human history, lol. Doesn't sound like too much fun :)

I actually agree with carpedenbass that you might be totally surprised by how bad it tastes. I'm not going to encourage you to go out and burn one, but if you did I bet you'd find it disgusting.

I had a few in the first week I was vaping, and they just got nastier and nastier tasting to me. I don't think I smoked a full cigarette down to the .... in that week of transition. I haven't had one since then, because I have no *want* for one.

I quit a 3ppd/40yr habit in 5days and half a pack, I had the occasional urge around a couple of buddies who still smoke for another 3 weeks or so and find now, 2mos latter, I have no desire and like others, find the smell disgustingly choking and have no desire to taste another funkarette at all...you might take a puff or three just to see how bad it is but, why bother, when the urge hits, just vape away, it's so much better on so many levels.............

For me, analogs became nasty by the end of my first week of vaping. I deliberately lit one just to find out what it would taste like now that my taste buds seemed to have perked up significantly, but also to find out if there was a chance that if I had one, would I get hooked on them again? Thankfully, the answers were no, and OH HOLY CRAP I NEED MY TONGUE SANDBLASTED, STAT! Not necessarily in that particular order.

That's one of the great things about vaping. Even if you want to try an analog, well ... go ahead, try one. They won't draw you back, and if anything, they'll simply reaffirm that analogs are horrible, horrible sticks of certain death and vaping rocks.
