if you dont polish or mess with them, then they will probably last forever. But if your like me and OCD and polish at the slight hint of patina, then lol your engravings will be gone in 3-5 polishes. UNLESS , you were to use a super non abrasive polish which I have yet to buy, which i believe is called haggerty's?

Depth is key factor here.
My vW nemesis is laser etched and this batch the engravings are actually raised off the mod instead of into the mod, presumably due to molten metal and the new technique.
Over time that raised bit will erode, revealing the engraving beneath it , which WILL be 'into' the mod.

My tree if life mod is deeply engraved so those will last quite long. I have polished/brushed one of the tubes however, and that engraving is noticably shallower.

My new brass nemesis is machine engraved, so something like that will last absolutely forever. CNC engraving is much deeper.

The stingray appears to have significant depth whereas the nemesis is more fine and detailed, and crisp.
I wouldnt be too concerned unless you plan to polish frequently. Use a non abrasive polish under those circumstances

On the naval brass nemesis (the legitimate one, not the clone) owners were having problems with the etching being removed by polishing. Atmomixani does offer re-engraving service on their mods so you can send it back and they can re-engrave it. Atmo just switched to deep CNC engraving on all their brass nemesises. It started on the Nemesis Legion Edition (which I have) and all future brass nemmy's will be having this style engraving, which is so thick it won't rub off.

You have to keep in mind this: When brass tarnishes/patinas, it's actually a layer of the metal that is changing composition. When you polish it to get it shiny again, you are removing a thin layer. Stainless steel doesn't patina/tarnish, so you're not removing metal. So even though the laser etchings on the SS nemesis are fairly light, it's not going to get removed like brass does.
